About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- GM8580 contributionsTour #1 Omaha BeachWe did a half day Omaha Beach tour. Our guide Stephen was very informative and he painted a clear picture of what it must have been like for the soliders at that time. We are grateful for our visit which was a very moving and unforgettable experience. Definitely recommend Overlord Tours.Written November 6, 2024
- elis7270 contributionsAn excellent tour, one we won’t ever forget. It touched us deeply! Our tour with Remi of Overlord Tours to Normandy and Omaha Beach was one of the most compelling we have ever experienced. Not only is Remi a very well-informed and personable guide but more than that, he had a passion regarding the information and history he presented to us. We also visited the American cemetery, Bayeux and Honfleur Sainte Mere Eglise on our tour. All the other components of the tour were great with convenient stops, a clean, modern, well-appointed van, plenty of time to enjoy the stops - everything one could ask for in a tour. Do not hesitate to book with Overlord tours.Written November 4, 2024
- Clprn0 contributionsOutstanding tour of the Normandy Region and D-Day experience! We took the 2 day “Bradley’s Tour” with Ben as our guide. Both days were absolutely outstanding! We learned all about the history of this region, received detailed information about D-Day, saw a well balanced variety of places and museums, and were truly impressed by our guide’s knowledge of this region. The tour was very thorough and Ben was a delightful guide. We loved this experience, and it exceeded our expectations! Highly recommend this company!Written November 4, 2024
- debraeT8629LK0 contributionsThe best D-Day Tour!We went on the full day Band of Brothers with Overlord Tours in early October 2024. It was by far the best guided tour we have ever taken! Our guide, Valentine, was a young full-of-energy young man who was not only very knowledgeable about all things D-Day, the area toured, and the history, but was clearly passionate about the subject. The tour started in Bayeux and took us to Omaha Beach, one of the memorials, Point-du-Hoc, the church in Angoville-au-Plain (amazing story!), St Mere Eglise, and other inland points of interest. It was an eight plus hour day. We came away with so much knowledge and understanding of D-Day and the events that followed. Worth every minute and penny spent. Out of a 16 day trip, this was one of our favorites!Written November 4, 2024
- omullens0 contributionsFull Day Normandy TourThe key to these tours is the guide and somehow Overlord has found the good ones, Valentin especially. He was knowledgeable as well as personal. He answered any and all questions and took time to show us the smaller points. The drive from Bayeaux is short but the day is long but very much worth the full day experience. Online scheduling and payment were extremely easy.Written November 4, 2024
- 83jond0 contributionsGreat tourThis 10 hour tour was outstanding. Oliver, our guide, was exceptional. His knowledge of the American beaches was excellent and his delivery and personality made the tour easy and most interesting. The 10 hours passed too quickly as Oliver's facts and interesting tidbits made the day go by fast as he really held our interest. All the stops were great and we thoroughly enjoyed the day.Written November 2, 2024

- dougcV7436WB0 contributionsSo Glad We Did This!Valentine did an excellent job. He knew the information - wasn’t just giving us a prepped speech. The half-day tour made us feel like we got a lot of good information without being completely overwhelmed.Written November 2, 2024
- S5307GCmaryg0 contributionsD Day American tourExcellent tour. Endlessly interesting to hear about the d day invasion and stand where the action took place as well as visit the graves of the fallen. Guide, David, was excellent, historian.Written November 2, 2024
- KilroyWasHere0 contributionsLook no further!I've visited the Normandy Landing Beaches many times with family, and accompanying student groups, but it never gets old, and I always learn and see something new. I booked this Overlord full day tour for myself and a couple of friends, both history buffs, on the basis of the description and the reviews. We couldn't have been more impressed with the planning that went into the tour, the thoughtfulness of communications from the main office, and the quality of our guides Ben and Camille. Our group of 12-15 were in two minivans, a larger van having broken down, and consequently had two drivers/guides. Benjamin was the more experienced of the two, and knew the history and the anecdotes inside and out; as many times as he has led this tour he recounted them as if it were the first time, with liveliness and emotion and humor, and in excellent English; Camille was our driver, "in training" as a guide, but also extremely knowledgeable and animated, also with excellent English. Our two vans traveled together, with the group mingling at each site and both guides working together seamlessly to deliver information, provide fascinating details, point out essential topographical features, and of course answer questions. They appeared to make a point of getting to know each of us a little, which added a personal touch to the group experience. Their limitless energy and investment in our enjoyment of the tour were extraordinary, and the scheduling was such that while we were aware of seeing a variety of sites we never felt rushed, yet were surprised to see the day come to an end. Camille was kind enough to drop us off at the Bayeux train station so we could catch out train back to Paris. This tour was unforgettable, and worth every centime! Merci mille fois Benjamin et Camille, et bonne continuation!Written November 1, 2024
- 496charlotteg0 contributionsGreat supplement to a trip to the beaches of NormandyWe enjoyed the full day with Thierry. Some of us were more knowledgeable than others about the history but we all enjoyed it and learned a lot. Seeing the beaches is moving but having someone describe exactly what happened puts a whole new level on the experience. He told us stories about individual soldiers that we will always remember. We finished the day with a much better picture of what occurred around the days of D Day. I would recommend this company.Written November 1, 2024
- L609CDchristinaf0 contributionsOmaha/Utah Beach full day tour - amazing! We had an amazing experience with Overlord Tour of Utah/Omaha beaches. Our guide was Guillaume and he was exceptional. He picked us up at our Airbnb right on time. He was kind and extremely knowledgeable. The communication with Overload Tour as a whole was fantastic. Can’t recommend highly enough!Written November 1, 2024
- Guide652489374910 contributionsNormandy: A Somber & Rewarding Day's VisitTOURS FROM CRUISE PORTS #9 Our wonderful guide Benjamin met us at the cruise port in Le Havre. As we stood on Omaha Beach we were rewarded with his knowledge (with exhibits) of the history & sacrifice during the battles at Omaha Beach & Pointe du Hoc as well as insight into the sacrifice of many civilians. Our research that led us to Overlord Tours was happily confirmed with Benjamin as our guide. We highly recommend Overlord Tours & Benjamin.Written November 1, 2024

This tour presented by Overlord was excellent! I had done a previous tour with another company a few years ago and this one was most definitely better and exceeded my expectations! Our guide Thierry was so knowledgeable. He clearly has a passion for the subject, he brought pictures and charts to enhance his talk and augment what we were seeing. He also clearly had a great respect for the veterans and what they sacrificed there. I’m fact we went the day after DDay and there were still many WW2 vets at the cemetery. It was a truly a memorable experience. As we were delayed in our itinerary due to ceremonies at the venue, Thierry stayed over the allotted time to make sure we still got the full experience. He is truly a kind man and a great guide and Overlord tours was very accommodating. Well worth the price of the tour.

Would 100% recommend this tour! We only had one day in Bayeux and wish we would have stayed for 2! This half day tour was the perfect intro and a great overview of the main sites we wanted to see. We got to see the inside of a few bunkers with guns, battlefields, Omaha beach, US cemetery, and others all while our guide taught us about each stop and filled us in with many facts and stories. Antoine was so knowledgeable, knew the answer to all our questions, and we learned so much about WW2 and what took place here. He also had recommendations for what to see/do with our little time left in Bayeux. We'd highly recommend this half day tour!

As many other people have written in their reviews, there is a reason why this tour is so highly rated (and recommended). It is the perfect tour if you are staying in Paris but want to get out for a day trip to Normandy. Our tour guide, Fred, was absolutely amazing. I cannot say enough great things about him. He was very friendly, knowledgeable and patient with us. My fiancee had broken her ankle shortly before our trip, and he was able to be flexible while not sacrificing any part of the experience. He loves what he does and it truly shows. He conveyed a genuine sense of gratitude from a French perspective for the Americans/British/Canadians (and many more) in their help to liberate his country. This solidarity and appreciation was on display at the American Cemetery where he allowed us to have our own time in such a solemn place.
On this tour you visit the British Sector and the intact German gun emplacements. You then go over to Omaha beach and it is truly moving. Then you are taken to the American Cemetery, that is worth the price of the trip itself. The tour then wraps up at Point du Hoc for some breathtaking views of both Utah and Omaha sectors. Lastly, Fred gave us wonderful suggestions on where to grab a quick, but nice, dinner before heading back for our 8pm train. Overall the experience was fantastic and we cannot wait to come back and do the full Band of Brothers tour.
Note: if you want to do the afternoon half day tour.. it starts at 1:30pm, you can take a 10am train from Paris Gare du Nord and get in around 12:30pm for a quick lunch. The tour ends around 6pm and gives you enough time to take the 8:15pm train back to Paris from Bayeux.
If possible, spend the night in Bayeux and do the full day tour, either way you won't be disappointed!

Remy was excellent. He was warm and friendly, explained everything well, and it was clear how much reverence he has for the sacrifice of D-Day. He was engaging and also sprinkled in humor to lighten the mood perfectly. He took great care to welcome each member of our group. He balanced gracefully the task of making the most of each stop while also keeping the tour going to see all the major sites. He made the visit very meaningful and when I return I will specifically request one of his tours again. I highly recommend him and the Overlord group. Thank you.

Really had a great time even if it was cold and raining. Our guide was awesome Rethro I believe was his name. He had a lot of knowledge about D-Day and told us story’s that I never knew about the landing of the the troops and it was very amazing to be able to experience a little bit of history and to be thankful and blessed to be able to live in these days . I recommend that you should take this tour if you want to know more about the history of our for fathers .

Everything about this tour given by guide Fred was amazing. He was patient, kind, and very knowledgeable about local and national history. Throughout the afternoon he kept a close eye on the group and checked in with us if he sensed we needed anything. I was very impressed by the factual history he shared that is generally NOT in books because it made the tour come to life and have deeper meaning. Totally respect his integrity and position on historical accuracy. At the end of the tour he was kind enough to drive two in the group to the train station as they had minutes to spare or miss their departure. Fred, if you read this THANK YOU so much! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

My son Luke and I went on this afternoon tour of the Omaha Landing Areas on October 22nd. Our guide Michael was absolutely brilliant. So knowledgeable, imparting so much information whilst also allowing us plenty of time to explore at each stop so we never felt rushed. Just an overall great guy who made the afternoon the absolute highlight of our short break in Normandy.
Thanks so much Michael, all the best.

We took the train from Paris to Bayeux where we met the afternoon tour. We had plenty of time to stroll through Bayeux, visit the Musee de La Tapisserie which shows the 69 meter long story of William the Conquerors English invasion, had crepes for lunch and then met our tour all within walking distance. We had to change our tour plans, because our first train was canceled, and the Overlord Tour group was very accommodating and was able to fit us in the next day. So much was packed into four hours before the tour returned us to the train station. There were only six of us in our van, so it was very comfortable, and we got to know the other people. Our tour guide was so knowledgeable and had so many extra stories to share with us about the battle of Normandy. Highly recommend!

Our guide was Steve and he was fabulous. Very funny sense of humor but when we got to the beaches he was all business. He painted an incredible picture with all his knowledge and it felt very solemn and moving. As we drove thru the towns he explained how these areas were affected during WW2. Amazing amount of facts. It was a wonderful experience. Also, he was a careful driver. Highly recommend!

We took the 1/2 day Normandy - Omaha tour with Overlord Tours and had Rudolph was our guide. What a great experience. Rudolph has so much knowledge of the area, D-Day and first hand details from veterans that were there on June 6, 1944. We lucked out and only had 4 in our tour that day which made it that more personable. Rudolph did an amazing job and recommend both Rudolph and Overlord Tours to others when traveling to Normandy.

We arrive in Cherbourg at 8 am April 27 on the cruise ship Rotterdam which departs at 5 pm. It appears that there are frequent trains between Cherbourg and Bayeux. Would we be able to fit in one of your half day tours to the landing beaches and American cemetary?
Thanks for you help,
Steve
