This was a fantastic tour. Our guide, Pierre, was excellent. Very knowledgeable and able to answer every question he was asked, including some fairly obscure ones! He presented the information in an interesting way, easy to understand and not just ‘facts and figures’. The stories of individual exploits and heroism were particularly engaging. We visited quite a few sites but it didn’t feel like we were overloaded. There is so much to see that you can’t see everything in one day but I really felt we got an excellent and comprehensive experience. Booking was easy and the office person I dealt with was also very good with info about parking, timing etc. 10 out of 10 all round.

We booked 2 spots on a full day tour to see Omaha and Utah beaches. We opted for the tour that picks you up from the train station so we took the train from Paris to Bayeux early in the morning and got to Bayeux around 9:30 am. Charles, our tour guide was waiting for us at the train station, ready to get started. He did a great job of combining the more facts and figures history with some more people-focused satires to really helps us understand the events that took place on these historic towns and beaches. It ended up being just my husband an dI because there still aren't a lot of tourists in France, so that was kind of an added bonus, we could ask the questions and get more info on exactly what we wanted to know. My husband had a family friend that landed on Utah, and Charles did his best to try to find information about him from us. The vehicle was super comfortable and clean, the structure of the tour was exactly what we wanted and Charles was an amazing guide with a real love of history that showed in the way he explained everything to us. He also had good lunch and dinner recommendations and things to see in Bayeux, which is definitely worth spending at least a day there. We had been trying to see if we could do a tour of Mt Saint Michel the next day and had been unsuccessful in finding one, during lunch, Charles called around people he knew to see if he could get us a tour. Though it didn't work, it was thoughtful of him to try! We had a really great time and would recommend this to anyone looking to learn more about WWII and history, and looking for a different experience in a beautiful place!

Went to Normandy wanting to see the D-Day beaches. Decided to do a tour rather than see them on our own. Looked at reviews of various tour companies and decided on Overlord since that got a lot of positive comments. Our only hesitation was that their tours were for up to 16 people which was more than others. Since we went during Covid and France had just recently opened to US tourists we figured that there wouldn't be that many people so booked Overlord. Did not regret it. Our tour had 6 people, almost as good as a private tour. Our guide, Jordan, was fabulous. Very knowledgeable and had good stories. My wife who didn't know much about D-Day learned a lot and found the tour very enjoyable. Would also recommend that you watch the movie the Longest Day before you go. Highly recommend Overlord.

Overlord Tours gave us exactly what we wanted, a private tour with who we consider their best guide Mickaël Patin - courteous and with expert knowledge on the subject of D-Day Operations, unit and personnel.

Originally booked and paid for in October 2020, they maintained our reservations and honored the original price and requested guide. This was our 2nd visit and we continue to learn the events and terrain.

We recently spent a wonderful day with Michael Patin to see the D-Day beaches. There were 8 of us from a cruise ship that docked in Cherbourg. Michael was there to meet us at the dock and served as our guide and driver for the day. He gave great explanations of what we were seeing. His descriptions and explanations were enhanced by diagrams and photos in a binder. We seemed to have enough time at each stop to appreciate what we were seeing. The American cemetery was very peaceful and beautiful. It was so emotional to think that each of these 9,000+ crosses represented the loss of life of a young man. The stops at Omaha Beach, Utah Beach, La Pointe du Hoc, and the cemetery really brought home what the Allied troops experienced during WWII and D-day. We stopped at Ste. Mere Eglise for a lunch break. Unfortunately, the other tourist buses got there before us and nearly all the restaurants were full. Four of us did manage to eat at Au Domino, on the square, where the food was good and the service was fast. Throughout the day Michael gave us insights into the history, culture and current conditions in this part of France. He was familiar with the local wildflowers, crops and trees. Michael got us back to the ship in good time. Thank you for a wonderful, meaningful day!

This tour provides a good overview of the landing beaches and a couple of other sites related to D Day. Our guide, Thierry, was knowledgeable, articulate, and gracious.

He had some helpful maps and interesting pictures, which were presented at various stops along the tour.

We had toured the area on our own several years ago—I would definitely recommend visiting the sites with the benefit of a guide.

Unfortunately, the visitor center at The American Cemetery was closed due to covid, so we were only able to tour the cemetery.

The tour makes for a long day, but is very worthwhile.

And thanks to Thierry, who kindly returned my scarf to our hotel after I left it in his van!

This was absolutely wonderful. Michael was our guide and his knowledge was incredible. I'm usually hesitant about a group tour but could not have been happier. I'm not a military expert but Michael was able to perfectly articulate this part of history.

Yannick was our tour guide and we had a fantastic time throughout this full-day tour. Yannick was engaging, friendly, incredibly knowledgable and had a binder of pictures to reinforce his moving stories. We had a small group that day and he was able to provide more detail due to the extra time. Yannick's energy kept us going through a long and emotionally draining day. The tour gave a good scope of the gargantuan enterprise that was D Day, and made the mission into a series of personal vignettes.

I cannot praise Overlord Tours highly enough. With 2 young children ( a 4 year old and a 15 month old), we were very concerned about how our children might behave on a full day tour of the Normandy beaches. Our guide, Michael, would not have been more fabulous. We were able to see all the sights that we wanted to at a comfortable pace for the children and not feel rushed through. Michael was incredibly kind to our kiddos and had our little boy holding hands by the end of the day. Michael had incredible knowledge of the various areas and is obviously dedicated to the preservation of the historical sites. Absolutely outstanding tour company!!

What a fantastic tour and made all the better with Christian who is an extremely knowledgeable guide and passionate about the history of France and WW2. We done the full day tour with 3 other couples and Christian managed to keep us all interested and gave excellent explanations and descriptions of the events that took place, not only during the beach landings but also on the lead up to D-day and D-day +. I highly recommend doing this tour.

We will be back sometime in the near future and plan to do the overlord tour of Sword Beach.
