What to expect
Meet your guide at Bayeux train station or Place de Quebec, or your Bayeux hotel, and settle inside your comfortable, air-conditioned minivan with a group of eight travelers or fewer. Then, drive to the Normandy coast as your guide shares background on the Allied D-Day landings of June 6, 1944. Few people know about the huge sacrifice made by Canadians as they held positions west of Caen and halted counter-attacks by the German 12th SS Panzer division. While many have seen the movie Saving Private Ryan, most don’t know the numbers of Canadian soldiers buried in Normandy as a result of the two months of fighting that occurred here during the summer of 1944. Stop at Juno Beach, where Canadian assault troops first stormed ashore in the face of fierce attacks from German strongholds. The Canadians suffered the second-highest number of casualties here, with the Americans losing the most at Omaha Beach. Hear how the soldiers swept through heavy machine gun fire, and visit different sections of the sands from St. Aubin sur Mer to Graye sur Mer, where the 3rd infantry division landed. Next, visit the Juno Beach Centre, a museum dedicated to the 45,000 Canadians who lost their lives in the war, including the 359 on D-Day, and 5,500 during the Battle for Normandy. Chart the story of these Canadians through the photos, archives, first-hand accounts, and artifacts, and see the excavated German bunkers on the beach. Pay your respects at the Canadian War Cemetery and then track the route of the 9th Brigade advance on June 7 to the Abbey d'Ardenne and the capture of Caen and Carpiquet. Lastly, stop to take in the monuments commemorating the bloody battles of Hill 67, just south of Caen. Your comprehensive tour then concludes with a drop-off at the original starting point.

Americans Should Take This Tour
Nov 2019
It was a great tour. We were told by our guide a lot of Americans don't do this tour. If you don't do it, you miss out on at least half of went on during D-Day and beyond.

Canadians at Juno Beach
Sep 2019
Our group of ten had a wonderful time here. One of the people was actually able to find the plague with his father's name on it. Add tp that the Juno Beach Centre and it is a very meaningful excursion. There is much to see in the Centre as well. give yourself lots of time, particularly if you are interested in the Canadian effort in the war.

Amazing Tour of the Role of Canadians in the D-day Invasion
Sep 2019
My uncle was killed in the battle for the Carpiquet/ Caen Airport. I was interested in seeing his grave at Beny sur Mer but also wanted to see first hand where he was, not just from news reels. Matthew was our guide and he was outstanding. His knowledge of the military efforts was remarkable. He explained gun placements and brought what it was like not only for the men but for the civilians. Whilst we were touring the Juno Centre he researched my uncle’s records. As soon as he knew that he was with the Winnipeg Rifles, Company A, Matthew was able to show me where on.Juno Beach he landed and where in Carpiquet he was killed. It was a very moving and unforgettable experience. I could never have learned this without this knowledge and compassionate guide. Many thanks to Matthew and Normandy Tours.

Great tour!
Sep 2019 • Couples
Our tour guide “sunny” was informative, organized, and her sense of reverence and honest love of sharing her own personal family history with respect to d-day was refreshing. It was a pleasure to spend the day with her. We enjoyed the smaller group tour. Would recommend this tour!

Impactful and informative
Aug 2019 • Couples
We thoroughly enjoyed our day with our guide Sophie. Excellent English tour with a stop at Juno Beach, the Canadian military museum as well as a the Canadian cemetery. The history of our countries involvement in WWII were shared with us in detail as well as a few hidden gems and stories not found in our history books. If you visit Paris I highly recommend travelling out to the town of Bayeux for this tour. We traveled by train Paris to Bayeux (2 hours) There are plenty of hotels, BandB’s and AirBandB’s In Bayeux. The small town has wonderful cafes (close at 9:30) and a beautiful cathedral. Definitely worth staying a night or two.
A few notes: the tour runs from approximately 8:30-6:00pm. You can bring a lunch but Sophie made reservations for our group of 6 at one of the sea side towns. I suggest bringing water and snacks for day.
Fantastic experience
Highly recommend this tour
Next time we travel to Normandy we will do this tour (again) as well as the American tour. This area is packed with history that you could only fully experience through a tour.

Dad's bucket list check!
Sep 2018 • Family
My elderly dad, two young adult children and I had a wonderful day long tour of the D-Day sites significant to Canadian troops. Our very knowledgeable guide (sadly I cannot remember his name) gave an informative history lesson while driving another family of 4 and us to the various sites related to the Canadian invasion. My dad has wanted to go to this area for years as one of his uncles from Saskatchewan was killed in the days right after June 6th; when our guide heard what day my great-uncle died, he knew exactly what battle that would have been (in the push to capture Caen) and went out of his way for us to see that location - such a thoughtful action that meant a great deal to my dad. The visit to the Canadian cemetery was also very important for us, and my father was able to place a small Canadian flag and a small Saskatchewan flag at his uncle's grave site. A meaningful, emotional day - so very glad we did it! Highly recommend to any Canadian visiting France.

Canadian Tour with Kate
Jul 2018 • Couples
Kate picked us up at the Churchill Hotel in Bayeux and we had a fantastic day-long tour with her. Lucky for us we were the only clients booked, so we had Kate all to ourselves. What a pleasure! This young lady exemplifies the meaning of dedication. She left no stone unturned, researched on-the fly, answered countless questions and shared her related life experiences with us. She is a cut above the rest; brilliant, informed, and compassionate to say the least. Normandy Tours is fortunate to have such a valuable guide in their employ and we were blessed that she crossed our path to help us commemorate my father’s and his Essex Scottish Regiment colleagues’ service and sacrifices in WW2. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend Normandy Tours or their guide Kate and look forward to a repeat experience in the future.
