Highly recommend this English speaking walking tour- our tour guide Hexel was fantastic- knowledgeable, humorous and able to manage a diverse crowd. We went in the afternoon, 2-4:30pm. Lots of history to learn about that you might miss just walking the streets on your own. Leaves you off at Sacre Cour where you can go in for free or walk around the artist shops for the rest of the afternoon. Wear walking shoes!

Our tour was booked through Paris Urban Adventures. The delightful guide, Eli, was an American who had relocated to Paris. She was very knowledgeable and it was obvious that she has studied the history and learned the background of the Monmartre area. As she led us at a comfortable pace through the streets, she paused often so we could take it in at our own pace. She pointed out such interesting places as the house where Vincent Van Gogh and his brother lived for a time, the last remaining vineyard in Paris, the last windmills of the dozens that used to be there, the cafe featured in the popular French film comedy, Amelie, and other points of interest. Finally we reached the summit at the Basilica de Sacre Coeur, and marveled at the panorama before us - the city of Paris. Eli was enthusiastic and her commentary was sprightly. In short, she made the walking tour delightful. I would recommend this tour to anyone who is interested in getting a feel for the city of Paris away from the major tourist spots like the Eiffel Tower and Arc de Triomphe.

This was a great tour of the Montmarte area, very informative and not too strenuous for those worried about navigating the hills. Our guide was Maria - very nice and a resident of Montmarte - and she did a great job, although I would suggest she use a small speaker and perhaps slow down a bit as the general noise in the area made it difficult to hear her much of the time.

Unfortunately, Sacre Couer was closed off for a fashion show so we couldn't see it or even get too close at the end. (Nobody's fault, but with the intense and beefy security guards on hand lining the streets you'd have thought Pres. Macron was hosting every leader in the free world.) Maria also mentioned that our City Pass allowed us to ride the Petite Train and get a glass of champagne at a restaurant near the end of the tour, but this was unclear. By the end of the tour, the train had stopped running and the restaurant did not seem approachable by people claiming they were entitled to a free glass of champagne. Perhaps the tour co. could explain this better before or during the tour. It was no loss though, since we didn't even know our tickets could get those. All in all I'd definitely recommend the tour, especially if you're a fan of Amelie or Emily in Paris, neither of which we'd seen. (I watched Amelie on our plane home and understood the tour a bit more - good movie.)

I was always skeptical of guided tours (like, why pay when you can tour the area yourself, right?), but my husband convinced me to sign up and I’m SO GLAD I did!

We learned about the history of the different landmarks, some scandalous secrets, and their recommendations for food and shopping were excellent.

We went to a few of the mentioned places after the tour and were not only -not- disappointed, but actually blown away.

And this goes for every guided tour we’ve gone on so far. Some of these places you could seriously get lost in without their guidance. Others feel too overwhelming to even know where to begin. Some are tucked away with signs so unassuming, you wouldn’t think it was anything special.

If you’re on the fence, I absolutely recommend that you sign up for these tours! The guides are really nice, helpful, and funny, and will answer all your questions. Do yourself a favor and DO IT!

Joanna provided an entertaining and memorable glimpse into the lives of the artists that shaped the Montmartre district. Although we were a sizeable group, she made sure that we were all able to keep up and to hear the information, while having time to take in all the sights. Lots of walking but at a comfortable pace.

The group was too large so it was difficult to hear the guide. Too much time spent in the middle of the road near Moulin rouge, where it was noisy and smelly (public toilet was nearby). Some of the group couldn't keep up with the guide and they missed a lot of the info. I was disappointed with the crowds where the artists were painting... but you can't help that.

A good tour. The guide was properly engaging and was upbeat. It is a climb so elderly and less active (Or carrying kids :)) should be aware!. Plenty of good information. This is a group tour..... its good and good value but a guide with 10+ people can only do so much.

Funny guide who sang for us and lovely way to tour Montmartre- easy about two hours long enough time to browse then go off on your own to explore and eat. There are hills in that area and it is hot in July. Cobblestone roads.

I thought that I would enjoy seeing Montmartre - but I had no idea when I signed up for the tour how much Tamar would heighten my enjoyment. What a fantastic tour we had! Tamar’s anecdotes about Montmartre and her charming demeanor really made this bright spot of Paris sparkle. I would highly recommend this tour, and Tamar specifically, for anyone who is interested in getting to know more about Montmartre
