We will start this tour at a place where the guillotine, a gruesome accessory of the French revolution, took its toll with thousands of victims’ severed heads. This will be the opportunity to learn and “revive” this horrendous episode of French history know as “Grand Terror”. At the end of a short informative walk following the guillotine’s bloody trail, the Grail will be the eeriest Parisian spot ever where the victims are still buried: a fairly sized private estate with a countryside touch to it that shelters an impressive old cemetery with emblazoned graves of the wealthy centuries-old nobility. There peacefully rests the heroic marquis of Lafayette, hero of the U.S. war of Independence, whose deeds influenced America's destiny. Amidst the eeriness of this place, you’ll realize how French and Americans are closely connected through each other’s past. More than getting a history course, you will truly experience a meaningful moment. Oddly, you’ll come out of it with an uplifting sense of awe, of bliss, of peacefulness!

I live in Paris, and I learned so much from Milan's fantastic U.S. and French revolutionary history tour. He gives a lot of detail and context from this period of Paris' history and you will never see the city the same way again. This tour takes you to a really special, very private part of Paris that most people will never even realize it's there. Milan's expertise and passion for his subject shines through and will keep all members of your family fully engaged. I took the tour with an age range of 12 to 78 and everyone really enjoyed it. Highly recommend!

Looking for the French Revolution? It’s surprisingly hard to find in Paris. While most French Revolution tours will take you to places like Versailles or the Louvre that you might visit anyhow, Milan will take you to the hidden sights you would never find on your own! He is an excellent storyteller, and he leads the tour in a way that allows you to piece together the puzzles of the history yourself! He took a lot of time to answer my questions and get to know me. This is an incredible tour, excellent for anyone who wants to really get a sense of revolutionary history. Not to be missed! Merci, Milan!

We took this tour on Halloween 2018, and it is still fresh in our memories. We were blown away with what Milan taught and showed us. The time just flew by! I don't want to give away any surprises - Milan unfolds this experience like a mystery novel, and when you get to the end... WOW. Such an emotional experience, and 1 of the best tours we've ever had. We are avid history buffs, and we are still overwhelmed about what we learned... How did we not know these stories before?!?! If you have any interest in The Terror, Lafayette, the American Revolution or the human experience, I cannot recommend this experience enough.

This was such a great walking tour. We have 4 kids , aged 9-14 and knew they would be interested in learning more about the French revolution after visiting Versailles. Milan is extremely friendly, engaging and very good with kids. He kept them involved in discussions and was funny. We learned more interesting history than just French Revolution ... and it was surreal to stand in exact places where people were executed by guillotine. We all learned so much and Milan went above and beyond to fill our heads with so much fascinating history. He spent extra time with us and couldn’t have been more helpful. Highly recommend booking this if you like history. Milan gave us great tips for other sights we were planning on seeing.

Thank you so much, Ann, Martin and your 4 musketeers! This is a great reward to know that my input in teaching History is well received to anyone, especially when interacting with the younger ones. I had an amazing time with you and your kids. Kudos to the acuteness of their knowledge on the matter. I was impressed. Hired!!!

My afternoon tour with Milan was quite a memorable experience. Because this was not my first trip to Paris, I was looking for something more unique to experience. Being the middle of the week in December, I was lucky enough to have Milan all to myself, and even the morning rain gave us a break. A huge fan of history, I enjoyed stories of the European monarchies of the time and learned about the connections between them. We enjoyed a brief stroll to a beautiful little spot, hidden away from the city noise, to continue the tour. I was moved by the stories of the people of Paris and by the beauty of the location. I only wish we could have continued with the walk further, as you suggested. If you have nice suggestions for my next visit to Paris, please send me a text! ;)

Yes, the rain gave us a break that day. What is really nice is that, unless heavy rain or a storm would impact such a tour, the rain can easily fit in the picture. It gives another feel to this beautiful place where I took you. Definitely let me know when you visit again, there is so much to discover in Paris!

Milan was such a knowledgeable and engaging host. I've been studying the French revolution with my 11-year-old and Milan really brought that period of history alive for both of us. His stories of people's lives during the revolution painted a clear and vivid portrait of the chaos and transformation of that decade, particularly during the reign of terror when Paris lost 80% of its population to execution (many of them to the guillotine). The tour also highlighted the connections between the French and American Revolution and how much they influenced each other. City walls, bloody squares, mass graves and peaceful parks - this tour is a walk into one of the most potent parts of world history.

You describe it very well, Jenn. It was a pleasure taking you and your 11 year old with this tour to such a magical and unusual place. And how connected to the actual "yellow vests" demonstrations! Thank you ~ Merci !

I have been to Paris at least 15 times. I saw and learned things today I knew nothing about and had a great time in the process. Milan is, without question, one of the best tour guides I have ever had and I would hire him again in a heartbeat. Funny, smart, charming and always listening to what it is your interest might be and the direction to take his comments. I loved my afternoon with him learning about French and American history and how they intersected in the most out-of-the-way locale. Highly recommend joining any of his tours. I would hire him again to take me almost anywhere is Paris. Very knowledgeable and approachable.

Milan is a wonderful tour guide! Despite recovering from a cold and dealing with unexpectedly inclement weather, his enthusiasm for the history of the city is unmatched! We saw parts of the city we never would have on our own, and Milan was able to bring the bloody history of the French Revolution to life. To top it all off, at the end of the tour he made reservations for us at the oldest cafe in Paris. Wonderful way to end our vacation!

Thank you so much! I'm doing better now :-) I'm so glad you enjoyed your last day in Paris including with a nice diner at this iconic restaurant, and probably with the leisure walk I showed you at the end too.

Milan Melet of With Love From Paris Tours, gave us a grand tour of the gravesite of General Lafayette. He is quite passionate about his job and very knowledgeable of the history! I have to add that Milan is an excellent English speaker and very engaging! The visit to the gravesite was a very sombering moment also knowing that bodies are also buried there guillotined during the Reign of Terror. My husband's great grandfather #6 was part of the American Revolutionary War and wanted to honor him by seeing this special grave. He was able to pay his respect to General Lafayette and offered his French Fourragere to the General!
You will need a good pair of walking shoes; easy hike.

It was indeed quite an emotional moment, and a great reminder of who we are in face of History. After we had a first day tour of Paris, I remember how important it was for Don to come to this site and vibrant memorial of so many important events. If I may have taught you some, I surely learned a lot that day from Don's personal experience and links to this part of our common History. And, it has been simply a great pleasure to meet you both. Thank you ~ Merci beaucoup
