- skatermom590 contributionsVery crowded. Outside terrace and beautiful some worth seeingExtremely crowded on on Monday afternoon in October mostly tourists. Lots of food choices but all seemed packed. Enjoy the quiet in the shoe floor. The outside terrace is lovely And the glass dome is beautiful Children floor looked good Loved looking at the handbags. But too crowded to really shopWritten October 9, 2024
- LegalRover0 contributionsGreat for shopping loversThis is a very high end department store so if you are into shopping, this is the place to be! Galeries Lafayette is a gorgeous building with an amazing dome. There is a glass walkway you can stand out on over the inner atrium. If you go to every floor and every department, it will take you several hours as this place is really huge. I see other reviewers talk about a fee but I don't know what that fee is. We just walked into the building and shopped and dined for a few hours. If you can, try to go to the outdoor terrace for sweeping views of Paris! The baked goods were divine. We had lunch on the top level and as expected, it was pricey. Lots of people visit so if you don't like crowds, this isn't the place to be as it gets very crowded with pushy people.Written October 6, 2024
- dahnahh0 contributionsShopper loversIf you love shopping go there! I got great deals there, bags that are limited edition as well. It’s really big so you should know which stores you want to go beforehand plus the LV line is always so long so I advice to go earlier.Written October 4, 2024
- SWCortez0 contributionsNot worth itWe purchased tickets for 2 adults and 3 children thinking we would all get to make macaroons for the price we paid. Only the kids got to participate and they only got to mix the filling for the macaroons and nothing else. Very hard to find and no one in the Galleries knew anything about the class or where to go. Definitely would not recommend.Written October 2, 2024
- soumayab4800 contributionsGaleries Lafayette: Stunning Design and Breathtaking Rooftop Views of ParisGaleries Lafayette is an enormous shopping complex with a stunning glass dome interior design. It offers a wide range of brands, from clothing to perfumes. Though it was very crowded, the free, fabulous view of Paris from the rooftop made the visit worthwhile. A must-see for both shopping and sightseeing!Written October 2, 2024
- LyndallS0 contributionsInteresting and very busy.A huge shopping complex spread out over several blocks and streets. If you cant find what you want to buy here then you probably wont find it anywhere. Very crowded and a bit overpriced. Fabulous view of Paris from the top of the Cupola building.Written September 28, 2024
- wanderair0 contributionsAvoid Galeries Lafayette!!!I visited Galeries Lafayette Paris Haussmann on Sunday the 22/09. The shopping experience turned out to be a disaster at Max Mara counter. Their Asian sales refused to let me try "teddy coat" unless I agree to buy another coat... Since when the france allows "la vente forcée?" While she said this is Max Mara's usual practice, I had a much more pleasant shopping experience 20 minutes after at Printemps! For those who want to have a real luxury shopping experience, la Printemps is definitely the place to be! Not Galeries Lafayette!Written September 23, 2024
- FionaA6280 contributionsFabulous department storeThe design of this beautiful department store is fabulous. The dome, the glass sky walk, the roof top terrace were all absolutely amazing, as was the whole building. The high end designer brands on the first couple of floors were "just for looking" but lovely to see all the displays. The third floor still had high end but slightly more affordable for a treat. We had lovely brunch at the pretty Elan cafe which was one of the cafe/restaurants within the store. A really great visit.Written September 23, 2024
- Rebecca T0 contributionsThis was not a cooking classThe class comprised watching the instructor mix the cookie dough, and each participant forming one macaron, then mixing the pre-measured ingredients for the ganche and spreading it on pre-baked cookies. Baking the cookies is the hard part, and we did not learn how to do that. The instructor was robotic.Written September 22, 2024
- ginyount0 contributionsShop till you drop!I attended the fashion show (every Friday) here with my granddaughter. Buy tickets in advance. It was so fun. Purchased souvenirs here, and my favorite Le Jacquard tea towels (in the home goods building). I pay 35.00 each here in the US. They were 19.00 euros here. A true MADE IN FRANCE product. Beautiful patterns and So many to choose from. This is a very high end department store. Bring your wallet. High end designers.Written September 19, 2024
- Shelbi B0 contributionsGorgeous department storeI could wander around here for hours. Beautiful! We did the glass sky walk (grab free reservations online), went to the rooftop terrace for sweeping views of Paris (including the Eiffel Tower), went to the fashion show (get paid reservations in advance), and took a macaron making class. And that doesn't even include the shopping!Written September 11, 2024
- ParisgalChicagoIL0 contributionsGlorious Galeries! This was our seventeenth trip to Paris and when we were looking for new opportunities to explore, we were thrilled to take this wonderful tour! Led by a very knowledgeable woman who used an IPad to show early photos and add to the historical interest, this small group got to see the Archives/learn about the gorgeous dome and explore behind it and so much more!Written September 11, 2024
- Dale C0 contributionsIf you can't do Paris Fashion Week, this is it!Three Aussies went to last Friday's fashion show at Galeries Lafayette. We had a most enjoyable time. The models were great and the clothes fabulous. I thoroughly recommend this.Written September 4, 2024
- ALS20170 contributionsStunning department storeWe visited this department store after advice it has a stunning dome and roof top terrace where you can take some superb pics as well as buying designer clothes etc Tip the Dome is in the ladies building there is a bridge to get your Instagram shot, go to the roof terrace in the same buildingWritten August 25, 2024
- StarfishStingray0 contributionsVisit the 7th floor terrace for stunning views over Paris!A fabulous department store, well worth visiting. Highlights were the stationery department and toy department. However every single floor was perfectly laid out full of gorgeous brands. Aside from the famous domed roof which is stunning, I would highly recommend visiting the seventh floor roof terrace for a stunning view over the Paris rooftops and the Eiffel Tower. As a free activity, this was a lovely way to spend half an hour. There are also deckchairs on the roof and almost a 360 degree view. A fantastic photo spot. Quiet too!Written August 21, 2024

The Macaron Pastry class was supposed to be delivered in both English and French as written in the booking confirmation “You can book the course in English and French.” However, the instructor clearly lacks the basic English proficiency to communicate clearly in English and to make matters worse, she spoke in a very quiet voice so that many of us stood who farther away could hardly hear and/or understand what she was saying. (There were more than ten people in the class on that day.) She clearly favored and spent far more time speaking French than English, left us wondering what extra information she was saying in French that she did not communicate in English.

I should have read these reviews before going as I was expecting to actually have a go at baking macarons. Instead, we watched the instructor mix the ingredients and then all we did was to put a teaspoon of ganache onto pre-made macaron shells. The instructor was lovely and very knowledgeable but it's a shame we couldn't make our own. We came away with 4 pre-made macarons each and a recipe card but it's not worth the price at all. I don't think a baking class is an accurate description - it's more like a partial demonstration and talk.

The person who did the class was super nice and knowledgeable. My family and I were disappointed that we didn’t do any actual baking; mixing chocolate with butter in a bowl is not baking. We stood around and watched the instructor talk through the steps, and then we assembled 4 macarons. For $65/ per person to just assemble 4 macarons and whisk chocolate I won’t recommend this class. My teens were expecting to wear aprons (it even said it in the description), measure flour, use a mixer. If there wasn’t enough time for macrons to cook or cool then extend the total class to allow for that baking time. From the pictures I uploaded you can see only one mixer, and bowels and whisks for the rest of us. We each piped two macaron halves.
Save your money, find another place that lets you do actual baking, not paying to watch. I wish I could get a refund.

I was gifted this experience as I love to cook and I often take cooking classes when I travel. The class was well-organised with instructions provided in both English and French. The duration of the class was just right and pitched at a level suitable for both novice and experienced bakers/cooks, as well as children and adults.
Attendees were taught how to make the shells as a group (but participants got to pipe at least 2 shells) then the fillings (2 types of ganache) individually. I presume this was to ensure that the class could run to time and that it would be suitable for all levels and a mix of adults and children.
In short, this is a great experience for the price, duration and location. I would recommend this activity for solo travellers, couples and families. Before or after the experience attendees also have the opportunity to browse the Galeries Lafayette and shop.

This was a fun side activity and a break from all the walking and sightseeing. Located right inside the Galeries Lafayette department store, easy to find. Class was full at 15 people and all American tourists. Teacher spoke English very well. The teacher demonstrated how to make the meringue and then mixed the dry ingredients into the meringue. She put it all into a piping bag and then we each had a turn to pipe two shells. That was the part I really wanted to practice more but we each only had those two shells. Afterward, while the shells were drying, we returned to our stations and made chocolate ganache and pistachio ganache. We then assembled two macarons each (from pre-baked shells) and got to take those home. It's about a 1.5 hour class and we learned some secret tips which we'll try when we get home. Overall, this was a fun class, didn't take up a lot of time, cost was reasonable. And when you're done, you can step right out and do all your shopping in the department store.

We have booked a macaron workshop here which got cancelled June 26 because of Covid. Very understandable but I am still waiting for my refund after 2,5 months! I’ve never experienced anything like this. It’s hard to get in touch and all you receive are emails sent from no-reply addresses so you can’t even reply. Be warned!

Save your money! You won’t get to bake macaroons. If you ever FIND the place (we wandered the area for 30 minutes before finding it and we weren’t even the latest attendees because everyone got lost), you will watch the instructor make the batter, and then each person can pipe 2 cookies. For the fillings, all you do is mix the pre-measured ingredients. There is no opportunity for personal creativity or flare. Additionally, the instructor we had was not very enthusiastic or nice. You pay $65 to eat 4 macaroons you did not create and take home two recipes you could have found online for free.

We had a lovely time learning how to make the perfect macaron. The facility was spacious and modern, and our instructor was excellent and guided us with patience and kindness. Exploring Galeries Lafayette before and after class was so much fun... don't miss the rooftop! This experience inspired me to make macarons for the holidays so my friends and family have reaped the benefits as well!

Cute idea but not worth the money. At the start of class, the instructor made the cookies and asked if anyone wanted to "practice" piping them onto trays. I assumed that meant we'd all get the chance to make them at some point but nope, that was it. The rest of class consisted of whisking a tablespoon of chocolate ganache and even less pistachio butter, then spreading them onto the premade cookies. Our instructor had little interaction with the group beside asking our favorite French desserts. No instruction on how long to bake, what they should look like, etc (though we did leave with recipe cards). At $65/person... we walked away with four macarons. Plenty of other ways to spend money in Paris.

We loved Marie and this class! She was kind, talented, and funny! The place is so clean and makes you feel fancy. They do a great job of having everything set up for you before the class starts. Together, we watched Marie make the shells of the macaroon, she allowed us to pipe them onto the tray, and then you individually make the ganache. You leave with 4 of your own to eat. My friends and I had a great time and felt very comfortable and confident (although none of us are cooks, and we felt a little nervous going in). There was a range of ages, including two younger kids, great for everyone! We're excited to make these for Thanksgiving!

I am interested in taking this class, but aren’t able to locate exact times of the class on the website. Could you please let me know so that I may book this class around my schedule for that day? Thank you😊

We took the "family experience" class because we had an 11 year old with us. It was at 10:30 am. It looks like the adult class is at 2:00 pm. On the website if you click on "Reserve" it will give you dates and times to choose from.

Thanks so much for your reply and information. We have already booked to go to Disneyland on the Wednesday so we might have to look elsewhere- just difficult trying to find classes accomodating our boys ages, I think that they would absolutely love it!
