This was a fantastic tour by The Tour Guy and definitely one we would recommend if you really want a great overview of Versailles.
The information on meeting up with the tour was great (outside a metro stop in western Paris), and the tour guide was very organized with train tickets for everyone, which we used to get on the train and ride about 25 minutes out to Versailles.
Once at the train stop, we walked about 20 minutes to the actual Palace of Versailles, where our tour guide got all of our entrance tickets and a headset, and then led us into the palace.
Once inside, our tour guide, Anastasia, showed everyone how to use the headset, which was basically a little unit with headphones that allowed you to hear her commentary crystal clear when we were in crowded areas of the Palace where it would have been difficult otherwise.
We then went on about a 2-hour tour of the main parts of the Palace. Anastasia was an outstanding tour guide. Very personable and engaging, with lots of detailed knowledge about both the history of King Louis XIV and the history of the Palace, as well as the various rooms and art.
After the tour, we were left to explore the expansive gardens on our own, which we enjoyed because we could take our time at the many fountains, have some lunch, and just really enjoy the beautiful surroundings.
The train ticket provided by the tour was a round-trip ticket, so when we were done at Versailles, we just walked back to the train station, hopped on, and went right back into the heart of Paris.
We were very impressed with the organization and professionalism of this tour and would highly recommend it.

We had Rory as our guide. He was so informative. You can tell he loves history, fun facts, and knows how to keep everyone safe, and teens engaged. Can't say enough about this perfectly magical day. From the meeting point, the train ride, Versailles, gathering food (and great recommendations from Rory) to the actual picnic... He was AWESOME! I will be recommending this to anyone who vacations in Paris!

Our guide OJ (Olajean) was funny, informative, and gave us excellent pointers of how we could maximize our time at Versailles. We did a walking tour with OJ through the gardens before visiting the chateau, but it was OJ's recommendations that we did after that we enjoyed the most. After walking through the chateau, we biked around the grand canal, visited the Petit and Grand Trianons, and walked through Marie Antoinette's hamlet. Biking around the grand canal was my single favorite thing we did during our two week trip around Europe.

Our guide, OJ, was funny and informative and did a great job ensuring that we got the most out of our time at Versailles. While others waited on a long line in the hot sun, we had plenty of time in both the gardens and the Chateau. We never wasted a minute. Fat Tire tours is the way to go!

From the first moment, this tour was very disorganized. We were first placed on one bus then another representative moved us to another bus. The company reps argued with. each other regarding who was in charge. Upon arriving at the palace, we were shuttled around between several guides. Again, more arguments between the employees. The head guide was rude and snapping at everyone. Our guide seemed to be very knowledgeable but her English was limited to only a very few words. It was so crowded that it was a struggle to remain with the guide and very difficult to see. The palace itself was filthy. The promised water display was canceled at the time it was scheduled to begin. This tour was a huge disappointment and I would never recommend it. We felt cheated.

Versailles is a world-known attraction that cannot leave anyone indifferent. However, to make the most of your visit, I highly recommend to join any of the tours posted on Trip Advisor. Fat Tire Tours is no exception - it was very well organized. Our guide, Natasha, despite her young age, was very knowledgeable of the subject, and, even more importantly, of the Palace and garden themselves. At the day of the tour the weather did not favor us, and we were caught under very heavy rain while walking from the train station to the Palace, so parts of the garden were not easily accessible due to puddles. Natasha easily navigated us through alternative paths and still managed to show all the highlights while keeping us informed and entertained.
Overall me and my daughter were very satisfied with the trip.
One wish which I have is that tour participants should have audio receivers rather than rely on guide's instructions that she sometimes need to shout loudly, especially during walks when the group is stretched (in England it seems common practice, and works very well).

A really comfortable train ride from Paris to Versailles with a guide who kept us entertained and informed through the ride. Never been so happy to have a skip the line ticket because the crowd outside the palace waiting for tickets was mind boggling!!
We began with a two hour walk around the garden, which was quite an effort but worth it. We could buy orange juice made from the fruit of the trees grown in the palace ground. A little steeply priced but was really welcome after all the walking around. So beautifully laid out and well manicured was the lawns that one didn’t really miss the absence of too many flowers.
After the garden we went around the Palace..no words to describe it! Beautiful to say the least .. though I wish it wasn’t so crowded and one could look around with more ease.
Please do book your tickets in advance!

On a cold and heavily rainy day of May, "Fat Tyres Tours" made it pretty clear that it only focuses on making the tour no matter what. Not giving any guidelines for the necessary equipment based on the forecasted weather conditions and taking no actions themselves (i.e. providing gloves or at least a disposable anorak), they showed a total indifference of the participants' complaints for the absence of organization and lack of alternatives. The tour was certainly a tour to remember as we ended up cycling in hail and entering the Versailles Palace wet and exchausted. Memorable...

Our family of 8 - incl 3 20yo, 2 teens, and 21 mo enjoyed our trip guided by Cian who was personable and knowledgeable. We had a bike trailer tha t a bolt came off. He had spare parts and had us fixed up and on our way in a few moments. He guided us to some nice selections in a busy open market which we picknicked on later in the gardens of our tour. Skipping the lines is a very nice benefit, especially on a hot day!
