- ffcb0 contributionsSomething different to dodon’t expect too much from this, it’s a nice relaxing activity and the chocolate bars were fun to make but if you’re expecting to learn how to make chocolate (tempering etc) you’re not. It suited our family age 10 and teenager on a hot day to get out of the midday sun and we had tasty treats for the rest of the holiday. the chef didn’t make much of an effort at all but was friendly. I think they could do more with this workshop- they seem to have all the equipment and chocolate, it could be better without much investment or effort. We liked it though and the virtual tasting was kind of coolWritten August 14, 2024
- teecherzpet0 contributionsFun workshopWe began the workshop by dipping marshmallows, orange slices and chocolate squares into the pots of melted chocolate after the chocolatier demonstrated how to do so. Then he demonstrated how to make the chocolate bars and how to make a swirl. It would have been better if we started with the making of the chocolate bars as they needed time to set properly. As they would have been setting, then we could have dipped our other treats into the chocolate pots as they required only 30 seconds to set. Also, the chocolatier did not have the patience required to work with children. My family did not have problems, but he (the chocolatier) was very impatient with others. The scavenger hunt is not kid-friendly at all! They definitely need to revamp that and keep it to one simple sheet as opposed to a multi-page booklet whereby the answers were very difficult for the kids to find. Overall, we did have fun and enjoyed eating what we made!Written July 23, 2023
- U6764HZstephenc0 contributionsNopeAvoid this. It's 45 minutes of dipping things in chocolate. Totally not worth the $45. With so many things to do around Paris, don't waste your time here.Written April 11, 2023
- FlySleepEat0 contributionsNot a chocolate MAKING workshopTitle is misleading. You don’t get to make any chocolates. You basically dip things like marshmallows and orange candy and fudge squares in liquid chocolate. Then you squeeze molten chocolate into molds to make chocolate bars. Save your money. Do something else with your time in Paris. Definitely not worth $220 for 5 people. We were a small group of people ages 17 - 76 and would definitely not do it again.Written April 5, 2023
- gelilah20230 contributionsNot worth your time. Not a good experience for my family. The Museum is pretty awful and if you’re traveling here from another country, you won’t want to waste time on it.Written April 5, 2023

- djhjohnson0 contributionsGood for chocolate loversIt was fun! It’s a small museum but has a lot of interesting facts about the history of chocolate. You get to taste chocolate as your walking through the museum and they do a demonstration at the end. You get a beautiful praline at the end. StairsWritten February 15, 2020
- Thorragnorok0 contributionsAmazing!Amazing place, great for kids At starting they give u 4 chocolates to try and also give kids a treasure hunt. Museum was very interesting while showing the history of chocolate. BTW first floor is a haven for all chocolate lovers as there is a chocolate dispenser there telling that you can have as many chocolates as u want for free.Demonstration was also nice. I highly recommend this place.Written December 22, 2019

- nesszed0 contributionsChoco StoryIn my opinion, that place is not wors the entrance ticket price. The chocolate making show is very speedy and short. The museum itself is nothing special, by sure, you can find much more interesting places in Paris.Written October 25, 2019
- JDUR260 contributionsExcellent walk through the history of chocolateWe've been to a few chocolate stories and museums before in various places but we still learned something new, which was great. The artefacts on display were very interesting, especially the Aztec/Mayan artefacts. Plenty of free chocolate samples and the huge sculptures in the 3rd section of the tour were incredible. Plenty to marvel at. The demonstration of praline truffle making was great too, chocolatier was very informative and excellent at giving his demonstration in both French and English at the same time. We also had a chocolate drink and bag of chocolate included in our ticket price. We chose the Hazelnut Chocolate Slush as it was a hot day and this was delicious. The big bag of chocolate we received was also surprising. Thought it would have been smaller. All in all though, it still felt a touch expensive for what we got, but its well worth a visit.Written August 31, 2019
- Larsfam0 contributionsfree chocolate! Not only was this an informative museum that chronicled the history of chocolate, but there were free samples throughout the museum. There was no limit on the chocolate. We visited the museum on our first day in Paris and what a sweet welcome! The chocolate making demonstration was fun, too!Written August 8, 2019
- Con210 contributionsvery tasty and interestingMuseum of the history of chocolate presented in a fascinating way with as much chocolate as you want to eat on the premises! There is also a workshop and a demonstration. Especially interesting are the clothes and shoes made from chocolate. I think the chocolate Eiffel Tower melted in July's heatwaveWritten August 3, 2019
- valerier220 contributionsKid's Workshop was a favourite!I booked the chocolate workshop for me and my 8 year old. I was worried that the workshop might be too advanced for her but it was just right; not too long that kids would get bored and lots of creativity possible. Several families were there and everyone seemed to have a great time. The chef explained everything really well in French and English. We had several different types of dipped chocolates and bars to make (and take with us, so lots of chocolates to eat the rest of our vacation), and my kid was so proud of her work. Lots of smiles all around! This hands-on activity was a nice break from the usual tourist stuff. And the chocolate museum was fun, too. I strongly recommend it!Written July 17, 2019
- B4035OOkeiths0 contributionsSomething a little different while in ParisIf you are tired of all of the 'standard' Paris things to do, and tired of the crowds, I recommend checking out this museum. This is a relatively small museum (two floors of displays and a demonstration area in the basement) detailing the argoculture and history of Chocolate. They also have samples of 4 different chocolates (milk, intermediate, dark, and white) available for tasting/eating throughout the museum. It takes about 30-60 minutes to look at the displays. Everything is well maintained and air conditioned (a welcome thing in the summer heat of Paris). They also perform regular demonstrations where they show how chocolate is made and molded into different confections. Finally, they offer 'classes' where they teach you how to create your own chocolates, though, really, they are more 'fun' than educational. They basically have the same 4 types of chocolate and you create various creations by dipping, coating, and piping the chocolate. Admittedly, this is not 'high culture,' this would qualify as a morning's distraction.Written July 9, 2019

The museum was just okay. The staff were friendly, but we were underwhelmed by the displays and the chocolate demonstration turned out to be watching a video (rather than live). With so many great museums in Paris to choose from, I'd recommend skipping this one in favor of another.

For a cheap, interesting little stroll around a museum this is perfect for a chocolate lover and a decent way to kill some time. There are containers of different chocolates to sample throughout the tour. There was also a chocolate making demonstration. I think we paid €13 each for a ticket which included a hot chocolate after the tour. Money well spent.

This was the second time we went there, the first one was in 2015. The reason why we came agin because we enjoyed that very much - we liked the live demonstration, the chocolate tasting. However, this time, only on screen demonstration, two chocolates were given at the reception, yes ONLY two chocolates!
I understand that due to COVID, there might be changes, so when I bought tickets online, I checked the details on both English and French versions. The English said we could "taste more than 10 different chocolates"; while the French version said "goûter plus de 5 chocolats différents". Therefore, we were totally disappointed when we only got 2 chocolates!!!
Since chocolate tasting is an important experience for this trip, I believe we will not come again.

Visited the museum with a 5 and 7 year old, the whole family loved it! The exhibits are really interesting and the story is well laid out across the museum- I learnt so much that I didn’t know about chocolate! The kids get little activity packs and there is also a free audio guide you can access on your phone. Plenty of chocolate to eat across the museum that went down well and brings the exhibits to life. Everything was available in English and I think several other languages too. We spent a good 2 hours looking around. Situated right by Bonne Nouvelle metro so easy to find for tourists.

Worst experience ever! Now I know why this place is not recommended. The museum is a joke and the employees are even worse. There is really nothing at all to see in the museum - we showed up for our workshop at 4:20 for a 4:15pm appointment. The workshop is supposed to last 45 minutes. Can you believe they would not let us in! They said we were too late for the workshop and that it is full now. I have a paid ticket. How is it possible for it to be full and too late! I realize we were 5 minutes late but traffic in Paris is completely unpredictable and they had blocked the road! They said the chocolate had to set so it was too late! Really? I had my 2 young children in tears! Literally booked our day around this one event which I actually PAID for and they would not honor our workshop! Completely unacceptable and now I know why the hotels do not recommend this place! It sucks! Save yourself the inconvenience of traveling out of the way for this! I should have booked the other chocolate tours that were recommended. This is what you’re traveling to see in the ‘museum’.
We even asked to just watch the workshop that we pod for and we’re denied because they said it was ‘full’? How is it full if I paid for the space? 4 spaces to be exact?

The displays are laid out in an interesting and interactive manner. There are containers of chocolate that you can sample along the way! The demonstration on how to make chocolate with fillings was a little disappointing as the chocolatier spoke French then translated into English - but it was done at such a speed it was difficult to understand either the French or the English. It's a lovely place to take the kids, but also for the kids at heart.

My 4 year old and 13 year old both enjoyed themselves at the museum today. The game booklet helped them to get involved with the exhibits instead of just browsing passively. There was lots of interesting information, well presented and easy to understand even for my 4 year old with multimedia displays, antiques and reconstructions. There was lots of chocolate to taste at several points in the museum. We spent a good couple of hours there and the kids were in no hurry to leave. The hot chocolate is good too. A nice indoor activity for families.

We were underwhelmed by this experience. It is a self-guided tour. The museum is older and the story of chocolate takes work to put together by reading the placards on the wall. There is a free hot chocolate at the end of the tour, which was average. We were hoping for a more exciting experience.

My child actually liked it, but I thought it was pretty dull. We were only there an hour and both ready to go by that point. The chocolate on offer is very low quality - little hard waxy disks. I’d rather go to a proper chocolaterie and spend my money there.

I went to the museum with my son [2yr] and my wife and it was fun. I enjoyed the explanations, the decor, and the way they explain in multiple languages the story of chocolate. It's also great that you can taste different kinds of chocolates in different areas

Good evening. Thank you for the response to my posting about the racist images in the gift shop. As a scholar whose research focuses on racial representation in the U.S. and Europe, I am actually familiar with the colonial past that shaped the European chocolate trade.
My concern was that no matter how well the museum addresses the racism associated with the history of chocolate, selling those same images in the gift shop, minus that context, simply perpetuates racial stereotypes.
For example, imagine the French museum of Jewish history (which I have visited several times), mounting an exhibit on anti-Semitic cartoons, complete with an explanation of the history of those images, and then selling those images with NO explanation in the gift shop. Imagine sending postcards with grotesque caricatures of Jewish men and women. Imagine a mug or a refrigerator magnet with those images. It's unimaginable, isn't it?
Claiming that it's alright to sell mugs, magnets, cards, etc. with racist images on them because the content is explained in the museum seems naive (at best). I invite the museum to reconsider what it is actually selling and how it would like to use the items in the gift shop to counteract rather than perpetuate the racism associated with the history of chocolate.
