Overview

Explore the Cathedral of Notre Dame without missing out on its history—or waiting in a line to visit its bell towers—with this guided tour. A guide delves into the 12th-century cathedral’s past as you explore the inside with your group. If you choose the bell tower ticket, you can bypass the often hours-long wait. A choice of departure times and a private tour upgrade let you further tailor the trip.

What to Expect

Book your tour option and meet your guide on the Ile de la Cité, a natural island in the River Seine in central Paris.

Don the audio headsets to hear your guide and explore the small island and uncover its history. Then, enter Notre-Dame Cathedral, built starting in 1160 by the Bishop of Paris and now a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Wander through the vast interior, admiring stained glass windows and ornate stonework as your guide shares tales of its turbulent past. Learn how the cathedral survived violent episodes such as the 16th-century Huguenot riots, French Revolution, and bullets of World War II.

Next, if you selected the bell tower option at checkout, bypass the often 2-hour wait lines for the Notre Dame bell towers, and climb the 387 stone steps. At the top, gaze over the gargoyles to admire the panoramic Paris views. Your experience finishes when you descend.

I enjoyed learning a bit more during this visit to Notre Dame and I highly recommend the bell tower option. There were over 400 stairs, which was a little tough for me, but the views were amazing. I wish I could remember the name of...More
