Why wait in a long line to see less of the Catacombs? Your guide, an English-speaking local expert, will lead your group straight past the lines and down into the 200-mile labyrinth of bone-lined galleries and former quarry tunnels. An inscription at the entrance reads “Arrête! C’est ici l’empire de la mort”, or “Stop! Here lies the empire of death”. In this eerie empire, you’ll encounter the remains of such dignitaries as Rabelais and Robespierre, among more than 6 million other former Parisians. While individual ticket holders must remain on the public routes, your guide will lead you off the well-traveled path. As well as other significant remains, like the hidden Gilbert’s Tomb, here you’ll find monuments to those who made their living in the empire of death. In the Port Mahon Gallery, you’ll see sculptures that an 18th-century quarry worker spent five years chiseling secretly from the tunnel walls, before being crushed in a cave-in. You’ll see the Quarryman’s Footbath and the Sepulchral Lamp, whose constant flame reassured the living that there was enough air in the tunnels. As you wind your way around the Catacombs, you’ll hear all about the history of this parallel city – and the many legends surrounding it. Once you’ve seen what lies just 65 feet below the city, your view of Paris will be forever changed.

      Overall great tour
The tour was great and very informative. Raymond was very knowledgeable. I would recommend skipping the cider portion and subbing in more time for WWII related items. Everyone else on the tour that I spoke with also said the same thing. I also would recommend an age minimum for the tour as someone had a small child that at times was disruptive when the tour guide was talking. There were points I couldn’t focus or hear anything. I’ve been on many tours in my travels and this was the first one I was on where small children were allowed.

Worth the trip, reasonably priced, good tour guide.
Second trip I took with this company in the past week. Very happy both times. Daniel was terrific, funny and knowledgeable. The bus was first rate and the WiFi and power jacks worked well, something to think about as you’ll be in the bus for eight hours. So…no issues with the company. I can see why it’s a UNESCO site. Strikingly beautiful. On the other hand, you can pretty much see everything there is to see in less than an hour, which leaves you with choices including a) lunch, b) tacky tourist shops or c) wandering around outside the castle (which a fair number of people were doing). The stopped lasted over four hours, which just seemed too long to me, particularly given its sandwiched between two four hour drives.

Must-go in July for the water lillies!
An absolutely enlightening trip! Hendricks our guide was very personal about explaining things about Monet and I've certainly learned a lot more. The time given to us to go around the gardens, the pond and the house was more than enough. You are not in a hurry and you can really appreciate the place as it is. The flowers were incredible, all set perfectly in different areas and the whole place was surely an extraordinary work of art. Hendricks said that we were lucky to have been able to come this month of July since the water lillies were blooming beautifully, not like last month. Being able to walk around the cute village was also such a wonderful experience. Highly recommended for a quick trip from Paris.

      Lovely tour
Monet’s house and Gardens are incredible. Make sure you go in the summer so you can see the waterlilies in bloom. The town of Giverny is also charming and worth exploring. Hendricks was a very attentive and knowledgeable tour guide.

Excellent Tour and A Great Value.
I couldn't have been happier with this tour. Our guide, Sam, was fantastic, sharing detailed knowledge of D-Day events as well as his opinion of historical accuracy of movies (i.e. Saving Private Ryan, Band of Brothers etc). I fact checked a few things he said (e.g. D-Day landing in SPR was actually filmed in Ireland) and he was correct on everything. Very nice guy and you'll be lucky if you get him. The bus rides are long, 3.5-ish hours each way, but stops are made where a wide variety of drinks and snacks are available. Pro Tip: Grab the back row of the bus, which is five seats across. If the bus isn't crowded, you can lie down and sleep. No rest room on the bus which didn't seem to be an issue for anyone but plan accordingly. The cider tasting stop was interesting and worth the stop. I'd have purchased a few bottles but didn't want to have to schlep it back across an ocean. The lunch stop was nice and I was very happy with my selection (fish). The folks who selected ham or pizza, the other two choices, seemed less happy. The cemetery is impressive of course and don't miss the associated museum. Skip the movie they show as it's something you've probably seen before.

amazing! felt like i was in a dream
This guided tour was amazing. I loved how easy it was to find the spot and how detailed the itinerary and what to expect from the tour was written. The gardens itself was amazing and so beautiful, definitely recommend going and experiencing this. My tour guide Hendrics was lovely, he was very bubbly and insightful when providing us with information about the site and Monet. The included bus trip made the experience stress-free and I am glad i chose to go on this tour. 100% Recommend.

This was a really amazing tour, mostly due to our guide Michelle. I probably wouldn’t have enjoyed the catacombs as much without such a great tour guide. Michelle was so knowledgeable, and has a true gift for storytelling, as opposed to just sharing facts and information. She organized her stories so thoughtfully, staring at the creation of the tunnels and ending with the modern day cataphiles. Her enthusiasm for the history was so contagious and she was able to answer any questions!

Our guide Addie was the best guide we had in all of France for a week. Addie was so kind and energetic. She started the tour asking each person why they wanted to see the catacombs so she could make sure to tailor the tour to all of us. We had a young child around 5 on the tour that could have been distracting but Addie was so kind and answered his questions really made him feel part of the tour too. I wish we would have met Addie earlier in the trip, so we could book more tours. Highly recommend.

I absolutely recommend a visit to the Catacombs just not with this guided tour. We felt completely ripped off and have since spoke with friends who did the self guided tour and were able to share facts with us we had not been informed of during our tour. It is not worth the access to the restricted area especially when other visitors were able to tag onto our group and follow us in!

Admittedly we were unfortunate on the day we visited in that we were with another group of 8 adults travelling together along with their children who were mostly under the age of 10. The children were allowed to run around, throw stones, push past other visitors and scream. Once we were underground, one of the younger children had a panic attack which was upsetting to witness.

Our guide Sayed was pleasant enough but there was no real interest or passion in what he was sharing and at times could not be heard due to the constant talking and shouting from said children. We explained that we would like to move on and complete the tour ourselves however with no self guide or information it was pointless and we felt forced to remain with the group.

I actually wish we had pushed for a refund, the whole experience felt stressful and unpleasant. Save your money!

The Catacombs were awesome, but the tour guide and company did not deliver. We were placed in a group of 19 to enter the Catacombs. Our guide gave us the audio guides (which are included in the actual ticket price of 29 Euro) yet we paid 92 Euro each. The guide tried once to share information with us, but was hushed by the staff of the Catacombs. After that attempt, she just walked us through the ossuary which we could have done on our own. The tour we booked said we would have access to restricted areas- we did not. My advice- go to the Catacombs of Paris website and reserve your tickets online (29 Euro per adult; 5 Euro for under 18) and an audio guide is included.

Guide never showed up. Left us and another family standing around on sidewalk. 😡CityWonders😡.
The people at the catacombs however were awesome and let us in to view individually.
CityWonders did answer phone pretty promptly, tried to find the guide (no answer) and did call me back to tell me that they were going to give refund.
Catacombs themselves are of course incredible!

When waiting to go in I was reading the below reviews and got a little nervous however the experience we had was the complete opposite. Our tour guide Vik was great. I really liked her. She was super personable, knowledgeable and took time to answer any questions anyone had. We did get to access the special areas and they were fascinating. I cannot praise Vik enough she is an asset to the company and a great tour guide.

This is a scam, tour guide never showed up and this is way overpriced for the tickets! The tickets are normally $30, but I thought I would at least get a good history lesson and be able to see some cool parts of the catacombs, didn’t get any of that. I was at the meeting spot 30 minutes early and waited over another 30 minutes for them to show up. Someone else called the tour operator and they supposedly tried to reach out to the guide and never got a response. Still waiting on my refund for this, but seriously, don’t waste your money on this tour, just get the normal tickets online. Also, a lot of things say the line is 2-3 hours long, I’m sure it has been at some points, but when we were sitting outside the entrance for over an hour, the line was never more than 10 minutes, the “skip the line” is worthless.

This was an amazing experience. We had Michelle as our guide, and she was an absolute delight. Funny, witty, and full of energy, she taught us all about the history and need to know facts of the catacombes. Including the spooky urban legends. Brrr. We fully recommend taking this tour. Worth every penny.

The tour guide was AWESOME! She clearly had a passion for her subject matter, and her excitement and vulnerability about the subject of death made the tour that much better. She’s clearly an expert on the catacombs and their history, but she also included lots of recent history and behind-the-scenes urban Parisian lore to enhance the experience.

We did a guided tour with Melvin, who was great! He was very knowledgeable about the history of the catacombs and the access to exclusive hours definitely made the paid tour worth it. The first part of the tour was a bit crowded as there were other people funneling in behind our large group but Melvin was attentive and was good about repeating information if the back of the group couldn’t hear. The second part of the tour took place in larger rooms that only our tour group had access to, so it was much more manageable and easier to hear.
