Overview

See the splendors of Versailles, inside and out, on this full-day tour from Paris. Hop aboard an RER train with your guide and head straight to the historic home of the French monarchy. Take a bike tour of the palace grounds, discover spots most visitors miss, and enjoy a picnic lunch (own expense) next to the Grand Canal. Then venture inside the palace for an in-depth audio tour.

What to Expect

Meet your guide in central Paris and embark on a journey to Versailles: included round-trip train tickets make it easy to travel on the RER. Upon arrival in Versailles, pick up your bicycle and other equipment, and set off on an in-depth tour.

Begin at a bustling village market, where you can pick up a baguette, cheeses, and other traditional French nibbles (own expense) for lunch. Before you eat, work up an appetite biking around the palace’s sprawling grounds. See the Grand and Petit Trianons, visit Marie Antoinette’s Hameau, and discover other corners that on-foot visitors would miss. After your ride, enjoy your picnic lunch next to the Grand Canal.

The tour continues with guaranteed entrance to the palace. With an audio tour accompaniment, explore the Hall of Mirrors, King’s State Apartments, and King’s Chapel at your own pace, and learn more about Versailles’ (literally) rich history.

Your day in Versailles ends when you board an RER train bound for Paris.

We had lots of great experiences while in France, but this was on the very short list of highlights. Versailles is spectacular, but we could never have appreciated it as fully had we been on foot. And while there are surely other ways to see...More

The market is open all during the week, we did the tour on a Wednesday. I believe Versailles palace is closed one day during the week so check that first.
