Meeting the local tour guide Emmanuel with his wide and intimate knowledge of the area and his passion for wine was an unexpected bonus.

We learned so much more than just about the wines of the area - geography, geology, history, viticulture, oenology, sociology all rolled into one interesting and rewarding experience.

Highly recommend for anyone who wants to learn more about the food and wine of the area.

This was a nice mix of touring the vineyard, learning how hands-on the wine-making process is in the fields, learning about how the vineyards are split between different owners, and how the vines are pruned. We drove through different wine-making communities, walked through a castle where monks used to make wine, and then did a tasting. It was an informative and relaxing day.

Emmanuel at Authentica Tours was absolutely the BEST tour guide of our lifetimes!!! I wish we could give him 10 Stars. He had an encyclopedic knowledge of the wines. He showed us wineries and Burgundy sites that most tourists never visit. He seemed to know everyone in the wine business…they all liked him and treated us like family. Even when it came to shipping wines back home, Emmanuel went the extra mile. He had a special arrangement with the shipper. We bought several cases and were literally able to ship back to the states for around 7 Euros/bottle. If you’re going to Burgundy or Dijon…get with Emmanuel!

Dear Steve, dear Bonnie. I blush! Welcoming you in the way you deserve was important to our team. For me, it was a divine moment shared with friends. Old ones like the winemakers I had the joy of seeing again and new ones like you. Thanks for having trusted us for the selection of the wineries and wines. Thank you again for the memorable moments we spent with you. We will sure meet again here or in Nashville ;) Emmanuel

This tour of the Cote de Nuits Vineyards included a wine tasting session with 5 very good wines, including Premier Crus and Grand Crus. The experience was greatly enhanced by our guide Thomas who was very experienced and knowledgeable about wines in general and of course of the Burgundy wines. He is an excellent English speaker and has a charming way of imparting his knowledge. A wonderful experience, even for people who do not necessarily love wine. A must for wine lovers!

Excellent half-day tour learning about the Burgundy wine region. Thomas, our guide was entertaining, very knowledgeable and made the day fun! We signed up for a small group tour, but ended up having it all to ourselves- we felt so spoiled. Thomas made us feel extra special and gave us behind the scenes views. If you are at all thinking about doing a tour of the Burgundy region, do it! Ask for Thomas, he’s truly a gem!

We had a small tour as advertised, with six clients. Thomas was our tour guide. He has a good formal education in wine, as well as extensive experience with wines, and was very knowledgeable. He patiently answered all of our questions. This was a terrific short tour. We finished with a tasting that included a Grand Cru. I now have no doubt that Burgundy wines can be absolutely stunning.

This trip was a birthday gift to us, we live in Burgundy and know something of the wines but our guide, Thomas, was full of interesting and sometimes amusing facts and insights. The venue in Fixin for the wine tasting was perfect and the selection of wines was quite exceptionaly good.
Thanks to Thomas this was a truly memorable afternoon and I strongly recomend this tour.

Our guide, John, really knew his stuff. I have taken umpteen wine classes and done even more wine tastings but I still learned a lot of new info from John. It was not easy for him because the other two couples only spoke French and we needed English. I was concerned because the French intro went 20 minutes and the English was only 5 minutes.(It evened out later, though.) There were discrepancies between the tour description and the tour. There was no strolling through vineyards but since it was cold and rainy that was not a bad thing. There were two stops. One was at a small wine shop. Good because we could sample and learn about six different burgundy wines: whites, reds, a premiere and even a grand cru. On the other hand, it would have been interesting to visit a working family-run winery. With the generous tastings, we had plenty of three delicious regional cheeses plus some dark chocolate. However, the description had promised ‘gougere’ a burgundy local special cheese bread. I was disappointed but after trying some a day later in a Dijon bakery, I’m glad we got the real cheese. The second stop was at a 12th century monastery reconfigured into a large tourist-fancy winery/museum. If you’ve been to California’s wine country, think Beringer or Coppola. Of course, there was a big gift shop, but no wine tasting. There was a promotional movie. So, if you want to learn about and sample different burgundy wines, have a ride through the Cote de Nuits, see a medieval grape-crushing contraption and watch a short film on Burgundy, this is a good trip. If you want to visit a couple of tiny working wineries, maybe the other half-day is preferred. Or, maybe, just do the full day tour and get the whole show.

Bonjour Murray, We are glad to hear that our guide Johan was great. We are really sorry that you were disappointed by the fact that our "Discovery" Tour included only one tasting and the visit of Château du Clos de Vougeot, one of the oldest wineries in Burgundy which is a museum nowadays. By the way, this was mention on the description of the tour. You are right, we offer some others tours like the Burgundy (half-day) and the Passion Tour (full-day) with more tasting. Hope to see you sometimes soon again for one of these tours. Emmanuel

We had a fantastic first encounter with this incredible region and we live it as the first of many. One of the reasons was Antonin who was a passionate ambassador full of knowledge, positive energy, and capacity to listen and to adapt the tour to the particulars of the group. It was fun from beginning to end and we could not have felt in better hands.
