- kimpU1352UW0 contributionsNot a good experienceI lost a valuable winery client due to Decanter Tours. We were planning a wonderful trip and the owner totally dropped the ball. Stopped responding and left me hanging.Written October 7, 2020
- 580franzk0 contributionsVery knowledgeable guideA very instructive day. The guide was very well informed and the wines were delicious. Quite costly, though but that's Bordeaux wines.Written April 26, 2020

- Kathy G0 contributionsMajestic Travel Experience in French Wine CountryWe asked Mary and Julie to build a custom French wine lovers experience to familiarize our wine loving/drinking/collecting friends (4 couples) with the Bordeaux and Bourgogne wine experience. What we received from our request to Decanter Tours was more amazing and more awe inspiring that we could have ever imagined. In Bordeaux we traveled to left and right bank places and properties and moved from North to South to experience different regions, villages, properties and people. Words like Medoc, St. Emilion, Chateau, terroir, and more now have discernible sights, sounds, smells and memories. We also enjoyed the town of Bordeaux and built our French wine and food palates there after our wine country excursions. From Bordeaux we traveled by van to Bourgogne, staying in Beaune to accomplish the same activities and experiences. We discovered the wine, the people, the history and the charm of what felt like living in Medieval France. If you love wine, travel, and have always wanted to experience a story-book visit to France and Europe, you should call Decanter and have them build your visit to France. You will come away from this experience with memories to last a lifetime and probably a couple of new best friends. sante Mary and Julie!Written October 17, 2019

- Mark W0 contributionsAt Emilion premium wine tourJulie was our tour guide. This was the best day of our trip to France. Julie was extremely knowledgeable. Her family was in the wine and spirits business and she had worked at vineyards and wineries all over the world. You can tell she has a love of wine. I asked her a lot of questions and she had answers for all of them and seemed to enjoy sharing her knowledge. As the name implies this is a premium wine tour. We only had one other couple with us in a nice Mercedes mini van. It is more expensive but is worth it if you are into wine. It also included a little better tasting than at another wine tour we went on (which we also thoroughly enjoyed but different). It also included lunch at Chateau La Dominique which is a highly regarded restaurant and winery(no tasting here). We ended at an organic winery in a smaller setting. This was our favorite tasting. In addition to several wine tastings they also brought out a large selection of 4 different cheeses. More than we all could eat. Highly recommend!Written October 9, 2019
- chrischarotte0 contributionsFantastic ExperienceWe did the Saint Emilion tour with Julia and had a fantastic day. We visited three Chateaus: Beauregard, Beauséjour-Becot and Ambe Tour Pourret. All three were welcoming and very open in sharing details of their wine-making process. We traveled in early Oct during harvest season and enjoyed observing the sorting of the Cabernet Franc and tasting the grapes and early wine before the fermentation process started. At BSB the tasting was paired with a macaroon and at ATP the tasting was paired with cheese, which both highlighted aspects of the wines. Julia was fantastic and the best guide we had on our entire trip. She was exceptionally knowledgable and approachable and is very passionate about wine and the Bordeaux region. The trip also included a tour of St. Emilion, a UNESCO destination, which was delightful. I would definitely tour another region of Bordeaux with Decanter Tours.Written October 5, 2019
- Thetravelingkatie0 contributionsPerfect selection of wineries, guide with extraordinary expertiseWe toured three Chateaus in the Bordeaux area with Julie. Her international expertise was helpful. As we toured, she supplemented the information provided by our host from each of the vineyards. Each location we visited was different from the next and it gave us an idea of the scope of options in the area. Perfect time to visit was during the harvest-September/October.Written October 4, 2019
- Voyager8010570 contributionsMajestic MedocSpent the day touring the beautiful Medoc region. The highlight of the day was the private tour and lunch with tasting at Chateau Marquis d'Alesme, Classified Growth of Margaux. Very interesting tour with a portion devoted to connecting smells with people and life events. The wine, food and atmosphere was outstanding!Written October 2, 2019
- IrishSpice20130 contributionsPrivate Médoc tourWe only booked the tour about 2 weeks in advance but they managed to get us into some fabulous vineyards. Our guide Julie was really lovely & obviously very knowledgeable about wine & the region. We were greeted like friends at the vineyards and we learned so much throughout the day. I booked the tour as a birthday present for my husband & he enjoyed it so much that he wants to go back again the do some of the other wine districts around Bordeaux. Julie also recommended, & booked for us, a restaurant in Bordeaux for dinner that evening which we loved, was reasonably priced & served interesting orange & organic wines. We will definitely be back for another tour in the future.Written September 27, 2019
- kerriberri91300 contributionsAmazing tour!I would definitely recommend this tour. My husband and I are in our early 30s and have done a couple wine tours over the US and Europe, and this ranks with the best of them. The small group is the perfect size for us so it doesn’t feel so focused on just you, but also not a huge group so that you do feel as though it’s a personal experience - it’s a perfect medium. Julie, our guide for the day, brought an genuine and electric energy and her passion and experience in the wine industry really shined through. You can tell she loves wine, the process, the region, and wants to share all that with you to tailor your day to get exactly what you want out of it. The chateaus visited and St. Emilion were exquisite, of course. The 3 chateaus were all a little different in various ways, so nothing seemed repetitive and Julie helped to build the groups learning experience and understanding as we moved throughout the day. She also gave some great recommendations for Bordeaux and really made the tour! We had an amazing day!Written September 26, 2019
- Wanderer6833480 contributionsWhat an experience!Decanter Tours created one of the most memorable trips that we have ever had the opportunity to take. From the moment we were picked up at the Bordeaux Train Station until the moment we were dropped off at the Airport a week later, they treated us like first class. We experienced visits at wonderful chateaus and the hotel accommodations were also fantastic. We will certainly book through Decanter Tours again the next time we go to Bordeaux. Thanks so much for helping to create memories that will last forever.Written September 25, 2019

- Neaththerose0 contributionsMuch more than a wine tourWe had a fantastic day on this tour. Our host Julie was delightful and extremely knowledgeable on the region and the wines. Visited a small number of diverse chateaus in the Medoc region and had a delicious picnic lunch. Julie also provided great recommendations on local places to visit, eat, drink and shop in Bordeaux. Highly recommend this tour for anyone visiting Bordeaux and wanting to discover more about the fabulous Medoc wines.Written August 24, 2019

We returned to Bordeaux in July, 2022 for a second wine tour with Julie. I have collected wines since the early 80s and have done wine tours all over the world. Julie and her company are as good as they come. The booking process is quick and efficient. They are extremely flexible on scheduling and the agenda. Most importantly , Julie guides you through very interesting, innovative wineries so you feel like you have a real sense of what is occurring in the region. Julie comes from a “wine family” so you quickly realize that she has knowledge way beyond her years and, that this is not only her profession but also her life long passion. They will also line you up with great restaurants and have a chateau in St. Emilion that is available for booking.
Every wine lover should take advantage of Julie’s expertise.

On our visit to Bordeaux, we did 2 private full day tours to Saint Emilion and Medoc, and we did a private half day tour to Sauternes. All of them were led by Galaad.
The tours were very well conducted, Galaad demonstrated a deep knowledge in aspects such as wine production, geography/wine regions of Bordeaux and the relevant chateaux in this area. As a plus, her good relationship with the people involved in the destinations helped to make the visits more dynamic, language was not a barrier and we got the most out of them.
The transportation provided on the tour was very comfortable and clean.
I must say that thanks to this, our visit to Bordeaux turned out to be a valuable experience. I would definitely recommend this service.
