      Helpful Tourism Office in Bordeaux
You'll find the Tourism Office of Bordeaux on Cr du 30 Juillet in the city centre. Opening hours are 9am to 6.30pm daily. There are staff on hand to help with area sightseeing questions and to book wine tours and other activities around the city. You will also find brochures and information for chateaus, vineyards and sightseeing you can do around the city. There is also a pretty decent merchandise section as well if you are looking for a souvenir or two while visiting the office of Tourism.

Free Map & Nice DIY Walking Circuit of Bordeaux’s Historic Centre
The Bordeaux Tourist Information Centre is located in the centre of the city, near the Place des Quinconces (at the Girondins end and on the corner of the Cours du 30 Juillet). Throughout France, the tourist offices have been very helpful and this one was no different. Without exception, they have friendly staff who all seem to speak very good English and the offices are well-stocked with brochures, maps and leaflets. We stopped by for advice on how to use the trams and which tram line to use to get to Bordeaux train station. We also picked up a free city map. Bordeaux is a large city but the historic centre is not so big and it’s easy to cover the main sites if you have a map. They highlighted the main sights for us and we walked a nice looped circuit that started from the Place de la Comedie and the Grand Theatre. From here, our route took us via Notre Dame - Porte Dijeaux - the Cathedral - the Pey-Bourland Tower - the Grosse Cloche - Porte Calihau - Place de Bourse - the famous Water Mirror - and along the waterfront. We finished at the Place des Quinconces and the Girondons Monument. This was an easy, circular walking route that took in many of the city's main sights. The Tourist Office is open 7 days a week from 9 - 6:30 except for Sundays when its open 9:30 - 5pm. Unlike many smaller tourist offices, they don’t close for lunch. NOTE: You can also buy the Bordeaux City Pass here. If we’d had longer, I might have considered it but we only had a day and a half and there was already plenty to see and do without visiting the Pass sites.

      It was okay
I’ve gone on many walking tours during my travels. I would have to say that this was the least satisfying. Al, our tour guide was excellent, a native of Bordeaux. The information throughout the tour was delivered in French and English. I would have to say it was about 2/3 French and 1/3 English. I understand why - French is his native language and the group had a sizable number of French people. There was more conversations & jokes shared & understood among them. Aside from that, I appreciated the explanation of the symbolism in the statuary and fountains and how the tram was built.

A good walk and a lot of information
Bruno was an excellent guide, amusing and knowledgeable. Tour given in French and English. Would have preferred less time listening to information on the river at the start, which was perhaps 20 minutes, and instead heard more about the history of the buildings and monuments. Learned a lot on this tour and very pleased to have been ion it. Thank you, Bruno.

      Excellent value for money
The pass is an excellent choice. I rarely buy these city passes as they don't always offer a good value for money but this one does. We took the 3-day one and on top of free transport we were able to visit loads of places. Some need pre-booking (Tour Pey-Berland is one of them) but you can do this online.

      Nice tourist office
The tourist office is centrally located near the Opera. When we visited in July it was open Mon-Sat 9.00 to 18.30 and Sun 9.30 to 17.00. A large selection of brochures is offered and also it is possible to buy the Bordeaux City Pass which was our main reason to visit. Included in the City Pass is a guided tour and a very friendly and helpful team member made the necessary reservations for us. Several different souvenirs are also offered in the gift shop here.

Great place to start your visit to Bordeaux
A good office with very helpful staff and enough people even when busy. Separate desk for buying the city pass which was worth getting for us as we were there for 3 days and the 2 day pass gave us lots of extras for what we paid for transport and Bassin Lumineres and Cite du Vin. Nice souvenir shop also with quality products and nit over priced. One of the better offices we have encountered on this tour

Viator took $155 for undelivered service!
Bordeaux City Sights Walking Tour Bordeaux Scammed by Viator!! 936736299 We booked a 4 hour walking tour in Bordeaux France and immediately were in contact with the local guide on the “WhatsApp” site. I told her we were arriving via Norwegian Cruise line so she picked our meeting sight which was supposedly within walking distance of the ship. Our meeting time was noon so as soon as we docked I googled the meeting point and it was 2 hours away! I immediately contacted Yarin Yildiz and was told she could not provide the tour! When I asked for our refund of $155. she said she’d check with her supervisor. We were told there would be no refund because it was less than 24 hours - their cancellation policy. We didn’t pick the meeting place - the local guide did! We are still waiting for our refund from Viator! Scam artists

We bought the city pass in the smaller office at the place der la bourse, and the staff was very helpful in explaining how to make the most of it, including recommending the best routes to get to the different sights. When we asked for ideas regarding visiting a wine yard they recommend us to go to the big tourist office. There is a special counter for wine yards, and the lady there, Isabel, was really phantastic! She explained many options and did her best to choose two tours for us which could be interesting for our son (12) as well. She even called one place with free wine tasting in order to make sure it's still open, so that we wouldn't drive there in vain. We really recommend to go there, obviously they love their job and love to help tourists! 5 stars, we are so happy we went there!!

This tour was an afternoon one beginning at 1.30.
On October 28th 2024. Unfortunately it catered for both French and English speaking tourists at the same time . It would be far better to have separate days or times for each nationality as all of our time was taken up with alternate translations. This resulted in LONG periods of standing around and listening to another language before we could move on - also we saw less because of this - our time in St Emilion ( the medieval village), was less than satisfactory . Half an hour at most.
This concern and disappointment was voiced by many of us on the trip after the fact.
There was non stop talking by our guide on the bus which led to a good many admitting to just switching off. The information on wines given on the bus was also repeated at the vineyard.
All in all I wouldn’t recommend this trip unless it catered for one language at a time I’m sorry to say.

Great information, kind and competent bilingual guide, overall a good experience and must-do in Bordeaux! Got lots of specific information and all my questions were answered by the guide(s).
I particularly liked that it wasn't a typical sales-promotion tour, where one gets the impression that the main purpose of the trip was to sell you overpriced stuff. I.e. there are no sales pitches or special offers for participants, putting you under pressure and trigger the FOMO (fear of missing out) in you.

OTOH, that also means it's not a good idea to buy/order any wine at any of the visited Châteaux, as they're apparently obliged to sell their wines for the official list price, which will be higher than the market price for most of the "normal" wines. For example, a 2018 Château Prieuré-Lichine was sold for 48 EUR per bottle, although you can currently find it on the market for up to 10 EUR less.

The trip was 60 euros and was not worth half of that.
The tour guide was lovely and friendly but the 2 tours were not great.
They also made you listen to them for an hour before giving you a tiny amount of wine!!
It was the most expensive halve glass of wine I have evr had!

This afternoon we did a half day small group tour of the Medoc with Ophrus . Do not waste your money . At the first chateau we visited, Chateau Lascombes, the guide, who did speak English, had obviously been employed for her language skills of her birth country. Her knowledge of wine was non existent. She rattled on froma learned script and was unable to answer most questions. It was appalling. The second chateau, Chateau Marquis de Terme, was excellent and the guide was very knowledgeable and passionate about the industry. Our driver was just ok, nothing terribly interesting. We also thought that visiting 2 chateau in the one appellation was a cheap effort to save on driving a little further to experience something different. We felt that we had wasted our money and could have learned just as much with Google and several bottles of wine from a good wine cave!

Great information: about the region, the wineyards and the appellations. Lovely landscapes along the way.

too long explanations: everything was repeated in both English and French and you had to make sure you listen at all time to get the right version. Ot hets quite tiring after a while.

and... very little wine. That was very disappointing. There was no explanations as to how to drink your wine or the aromas. They serve you a minuscule amount, which is merely a way to lead you into their shop. Also some water would have been great. This is not a ‘wine-tasting’ but more a visit of the Chateaux.

We had a lively, friendly host for this trip and the coach was clean and comfortable. It was nice to visit two contrasting vineyards - a family run business and also larger scale site. The 'wine talk' at the first place went on a bit at first - I think they just need to get a glass of something in your hand a bit earlier! The tour was explained in French and English - this worked a lot better on the second vineyard as the guide was more practiced. It was interesting to find out how the wine is made and the trip sped along at a decent pace - and nice to try all the wines of course...

An amazing afternoon, we went on the Monday trip to Blyth and B. we cant rate it highly enough. Our guide was a star, so informative and helpful and the two vineyards we went to were fantastic. Real value for your money. We will definitely go again to a different region when we return.

We went on this trip on a Sunday, at no point in the booking did it say that this would only include 1 chateau, and one in the midst of a renovation.
We spent a good 1-2 hours looking at creepy catacombs in an underground church. Nice if you like that kind of thing, but not what we booked.
We went to one chateaux with a sexist wannabe magician as owner and by his own admission drank a little of his 'bad wine'. It was far too young and should not have been served for another 10-15 years. The chateaux was evidently in the process of renovation and so we stood, and it was a large group, in a dusty half finished shed like room whilst he attempted to do magic tricks. A distraction from the bad wine perhaps.
We were then bundled back on the bus where it became apparent our "wine tour" was in actual fact a lengthy and very boring tour of a church and one tiny tasting of bad wine.
The tour guide, although speaking both French and English appeared to give lengthy explanations in French and then would say random English words "soil" etc. So I do feel the explanation was somewhat lacking in English. Perhaps why half the bus fell asleep on the way there.
Overall very disappointing and blatant false advertising and definitely not worth the money!!

Dear Dawn, I am sorry to read your remarks. It is true that the wine tour you mention includes only 1 wine chateau and the medieval village but it is mentionned everywhere on our flyers and website. This organization has been settled many years ago to meet visitors expectations frustrated at not being able to discover this lovely village. I hope this will not stop you from choosing our city in the future and that you enjoyed your time in Bordeaux. We hope to see you again soon.

This isn’t the most expensive wine tour but definitely dreadful value. An hour on a bus being bored senseless by a very dull guide - not enigmatic in the slightest. First Chateaux we tasted 2 VERY small glasses of wine - nothing special though. Then another half hour on the bus before we pulled over because the driver didn’t know where he was going. He was using his phone for directions and then had to call someone! We stopped 4 times in total trying the find the chateaux. The guide literally had to guide the bus driver around lanes and help him reverse the bus. The Chateaux eventually had to send a van out for the bus to follow. €40 to spend 3.5 hours on a bus and probably one large glass of wine in total - awful.
