Anna & Erik were fabulous tour guides. Pick up and return at your hotel. We arrived at the castle right at the entrance and with advance tickets included in the tour we skipped the long lines. Spent an hour at the castle then drove to the winery. The route to and from the castle was all wine groves and a beautiful ride. The wine tasting tour was private and very informative and we tasted 4 whites and 2 reds. Afterwards we traveled back down into the town of Riquewihr which is a must see. We walked through the main street with Anna & Erik both giving history lessons of the town. The entire journey was a little more than 6 hours and was worth every Euro! Highly recommend this tour with Anna & Erik, you won't be disappointed.

Thank you so much for your kind review! We had nice time together and it was a pleasure to have you with us! Thanks for sharing your experience, it helps us to get running the tours again after this long period of Covid break. If you are coming back and would like to have some other addresses for wine tasting, just give us a ring. We can advise you lots of nice places ;-) Greetings from Alsace Ana and Eric from Alsace Safari

Our family of 5 (2 adults and 3 kids ages 7, 10, and 13) enjoyed a wonderful tour through the Alsace wine country with our tour guide Eric. Eric was filling in for our scheduled tour guide Anna, who was sick, and we appreciated their commitment to keeping our scheduled tour instead of cancelling.

The kids especially enjoyed the Haut Koenigsbourg castle - it was better than advertised and Eric shared details that we wouldn't have gotten with a self-guided tour. We opted to visit Riquewihr, which was spectacular and a nice complement to Eguisheim which we'd visited earlier in the week, and then finished with a wine tasting for the adults.

I highly recommend this tour for visitors wanting to get outside Colmar and get a sense of the countryside and the history of the region.

We had a wonderful afternoon tour with Ana who, after advising us Pre tour that the castle was unexpectedly closed, improvised according to our “likes” by adding another town to our itinerary. Ana’s knowledge & passion for Alsace was evident & conveyed in both an informative & amusing manner. Our final stop at the Jean Paul Eckle winery was a highlight with our young host, Emma giving us a unique insight into the operation of her family owned winery.

Dear Terry, thanks a lot for your kind review. I'm glad that you enjoyed the Tour! I'm sorry for the castle, but as it was closed for security reasons the visit was not possible. Well, we took the opportunity to see more things in other places. It was nice to have you with me on the afternoon tour. Hope, your "Girls" enjoyed the wine in Germany! Greetings from Alsace and good trip home to Australia Ana

Ana and Eric were outstanding.

Very knowledgeable, accommodating, fun, and super nice guides.

The tour was very complete, personalised and enjoyable. They know at least 6 languages between them, so it was very easy to understand everything they explained.

You can tell they are passionate about their job, as guides, as they didn’t mind going over the stipulated time so we could get the most out of the experience.

They also provided us with water throughout the whole trip, and dropped us at a convenient location at the end of the tour.

I highly recommend it if you want to explore the region and its secrets.

The overall experience was ok but can be a lot better. It was a very hot day and the AC of the car was ineffective in the uncomfortable back seats. There was no warning that one can't eat even small snacks in the car and no stops for lunch so we had to go 4+ hours without food in the heat (and no warning so we hadn't eaten before either). Eric was a good host, respectful and funny! We skipped one of the two castles and the trip didn't really seem to cover the essence of the winemaking region either with just one stop and 5 small tasters. I've done much better tours for this price.

AnaEricAlsaceSafari
Dear Anukriti Kumar, We are surprised to read your review as it does not reflect what you said to us at the end of the tour… but perhaps you have changed your mind during the night. We do regret that the experience did not meet your expectations. We guess you made a mistake by booking this tour if you were expecting a “Food and Wine Tour”, it’s indeed not the case. This is tour is made for visiting and discover a part of the Alsatian gems, as mentioned in the tour description. It’s an afternoon tour so people attending the tour are having lunch before, or if they have any doubts, they contact us to make sure. There is indeed no stop for lunch, but sometimes it happens that some guest didn’t had lunch before, so they ask us to make a stop for buying something to eat and we do arrange it. Unfortunately, you did not ask for. We are not allowing to eat in the car by simple respect to the other guest. During the visits you have time enough to have a snack, so no need to eat in the car. There is an advice in the car for it, but perhaps you did not had time to read it… Sorry that the seats were not comfortable for you, but once again you could have said something. We have a quite recent Mercedes Van and all the seats are adjustable individually, so if you had said something you may have adjusted your seat and if it’s wasn’t enough comfortable you could have even change to the front part. Regarding the air con, we do always try to have the right temperature in the car, we do avoid having too big difference with the outside temperatures, but our guest usually asks us to put the aircon higher or to slow it down. It’s a pity you didn’t say anything, otherwise we would have made it comfortable for you. Regarding the second castle indeed YOU skipped it because you decided to go by your own in the town instead of staying with the group! So, you missed not only the castle but lots of other little details and the explanations in the vineyards… We are always leading the guest through the different towns or Castle that’s why normally people are booking tours. But you did prefer to sit down for a Beer! It was your choice which we did respected. We drove over 40 km through the wine road and took even a side road across the vineyards, but probable you were to occupy with your boyfriend… so you missed it. We are exclusively working with little family-owned wineries that are happy to share with our guest and transmit their passion, you went through the range of the Alsatian wines but obviously you stopped counting before the end of the wine tasting. Once again you were not in a mood of sharing with the others, otherwise you could have tasted other wines. But “wine tasting” is made to taste the wines and to discover the range and understand the differences, it’s for sure not a “bar” to drink lots of wine glasses, as obviously you were expecting. In conclusion, we really do regret that this tour was not up to your expectations, but next time read the program carefully, and when the people who organize the tour offer guided tours, go with them otherwise take a taxi, it may be more comfortable and cheaper for you, as Price seems to be an issue for you, according to other reviews you left on TripAdvisor it comes out very often that the experiences are too expensive!!! For us, the most important thing is the sharing and exchanges with our guests. We do love our region and are proud to make it discover, and we like to have exchanges during the tour to give the best to our guest and leave them if good memories of their journey in Alsace. Unfortunately, you were not in this mood, there was no exchange, neither with us, neither with the other guests attending the same tour as you. You did not communicate with us, it’s a pity, because could have answered to all the negative things you pointed out in your review. So here our advice: if you do book another activity, read the descriptions, choose it carefully. And if during the tour something is not suit you, tell it to the guides so that they can adapt to your request, rather than not enjoying a tour. Finally, thanks for your review it will helps people like you to choose the right activity or to pass their way! Ana and Eric

The tour was incredible. The Castle was breathtaking with a fascinating history. The local winery was perfect with a charming and informative hostess who gave a tasting of seven (!!) delicious local varieties. The final stop, Riquewihr, was the most beautiful village I have seen in Europe, apparently an inspiration for the village in the movie, Beauty and the Beast. Anna, our guide, coupled her deep knowledge of the area, the castle and of wines with a very friendly and personable nature. She was terrific and helped make this tour through this splendid region a five star experience. Unfortunately, the weather was cloudy and a bit cold but except for losing some views, it did not damper our experience. If/when we come back, I will hire Anna again and do the the FULL day tour.

Ana and Eric are amazing. They are so accommodating and friendly. They have an incredible knowledge of the Alsace region and are are both hilarious. Going different places with them felt more like traveling with our friends than a couple we had just met. They were great at making us feel involved in every aspect of the tour, this is especially impressive considering we were with another couple that spoke French and unfortunately my wife and I only speak English. Great sights, great wine, great people, a truly great experience.

Best way to experience the Alsace region. Our guide Anna was a great driver and narrator plus took us to places we probably would not have seen otherwise.
Wine tasting was especially memorable. Group was small as advertised—only 2 couples. We would give it more stars if we could.

Thank you for this review, it's always nice to see that our guest enjoyed the tour! Alsace is so beautiful, that's a pity to see only "the touristy towns" and we are glad to read that our choice in running our tours are welcomed by our guest :-). Thanks for the "more stars" you are lovely! Greetings from Alsace Ana

Our tour guide Eric did a great job touring us around. He picked us up in Colmar with his van. We were with another couple from US. He took us to Haut Koenigsbourg castle, then we explored the fairytale villages of Kaysersberg & Eguisheim. Taking this tour is a great way to see these places when you don’t have a car as the buses in small villages are rare.
I think December is the best time to visit Alsace, France.
We went there on Dec 26, and there were still Christmas markets in many of the Alsace towns, including Strasbourg. We did this before we took the train to Basel (w/ Alsace +group ticket) to spend New Year’s Eve, then a day trip to Mt Titlis. An awesome winter getaway!

If you do one thing whilst you're in Colmar or surrounding areas, it must be, to book with Ana and Eric on the Alsace safari.
We were kind of 'lucky' being there during the covid pandemic as we had a personal tour which we weren't expecting and loved every minute. From learning about history at the castle to tasting delicious wine at a local vineyard. That being said, Eric and Ana are so so passionate about everything they show and talk to you about , I'm certain that in a group it would be equally as fab. We loved the info on the castle tour without being in a big group, they stopped at any place of interest along the way and Ana even joined in trying the 7 or 8 wines, the more the merrier!
We even got a lift home direct to our apartment with our wine purchase another bonus to the trip.
It was only a shame we couldn't give them a big hug at the end due to social distancing 😊

Oh waw Sarah, thank you so much for your kind review! We are so happy that you share your experiences with the others, and you are right even in small group our tours are runned in the same way, as we love to share and even if we visit the same things the TOUR will be different because different people :-) and we adapt ourselves to the guest of the day :-). Sometimes we have 3 couples coming from different countries and even if some are not fluent in english it's fantastic to see how the group builds up and at the end it's like a group of friends. We are so grateful to be able to do this job! All the best to you and stay safe! Greetings from Alsace Ana and Eric
