- WilliamB22580 contributionsExploring the Enchanting Lake District with Rabbie’s ToursVisiting the Lake District had been on travel bucket list for a while, and Rabbie’s three-day tour provided the perfect way to explore this charming and picturesque region. Despite November’s unpredictable weather, I was confident in Rabbie’s professional driver-guides, and our trip turned out to be blessed with great weather and a fantastic guide, Clive. We stayed in Keswick, which served as an excellent base for our daily adventures. I opted for the B&B accommodation and was delighted with Rabbie’s choice—a cozy local house with a delicious breakfast each morning. While I typically gravitate toward Premier Inns, staying in a traditional home added to the authenticity of the experience. The Lake District offered an incredible variety of sights, from breathtaking natural beauty to literary landmarks. Our days were filled with scenic hikes to waterfalls, serene lakeside strolls, and even a cruise on Windermere. Clive’s commentary was both insightful and engaging, offering a mix of historical context, natural highlights, and even local music that added to the atmosphere. In addition to the stunning landscapes, we visited cultural landmarks associated with William Wordsworth, Beatrix Potter, and John Ruskin, which perfectly complemented the region’s quaint villages and idyllic charm. Clive truly made the trip exceptional. His expert driving through narrow, winding roads and over mountain passes instilled a sense of safety and ease. He also provided thoughtful recommendations for how to spend our free time, enhancing the overall experience. This was my first three-day tour with Rabbie’s, and based on my satisfaction and enjoyment, it certainly won’t be my last. The Lake District’s unparalleled beauty, combined with Rabbie’s excellent planning and Clive’s expertise, made this a trip to remember.Written December 3, 2024

My daughter an I are fans of Jane Austen and this was my daughter's graduation wish to visit Chatsworth. Great views, excellent pictures, weather is cold (take adequate clothing), we are from the Caribbean and this a detail we missed. Tour company very professional and helpful. Highly recommended for Darcy fans!Written August 19, 2024

- elisemF8220BT0 contributionsReview 3-day North Wales & Chester Tour from ManchesterVery good trip, well organised for someone like me who was going in North Wales for the first time ! Adam, the driver and guide, was good and very nice with everyone, although I would have appreciated sometimes more historical facts, more details about an historical event. But he was driving at a good pace and stick to good timings! The "less good" point: the meeting place with the bus. When you're not familiar with Manchester, it is quite hard to find the meeting place, even if we were given details in the email of confirmation. It was in a road not very frequented, almost no buildings so not many people passing by on a Saturday, under a bridge, not really reassuring.Written June 24, 2024

- 61Angel610 contributionsFantastic Small Group Tour experience in Britain. It was fantastic from the moment we entered the bus. James, our tour guide and driver started telling us all about the areas we drove through and brought us to beautiful places with views and authentic British villages. History of the area, happenings there, music of the area etc. etc. Too much to mention but we were well taken care of and entertained the whole trip and came out much wiser. The hotel selected by the tour organizers was also very good. One advise for the organization would be to give the tour guide our email addresses to be able to reach us in the rare event of not being able to arrive on time for pick up in the morning due to traffic.Written May 31, 2024

This is a great day trip from Manchester if you want to visit northern Wales. Our driver (Chris) was very friendly and knowledgeable about the areas being passed or visited on the trip. Really enjoyed driving thru the English/Welsh countryside. Conwy Castle is in a picturesque area (but beware, the sea gulls will take the food right out of your hand). Driving through Snowdonia was beautiful. The mountain lakes were very blue and we saw lots of sheep and a few goats. Betws y Coed is very cute - the train station is pretty. Walking along the castle walls in Chester was fun - lots of shops and architecture to learn about. Chris was a great story teller about Welsh and English folklore and history and he played good music. It was nice to just sit back and relax on this mini road trip.

The tour with Darren was filled with his shining personality, humor, amazing food stops, photo opportunities, and self exploration. We saw the most beautiful places in England and Northern Wales. We learned so much about the culture and language on the way there through his stories. Darren entertained us the whole ride, played music, and we were able to bring our food on the ride from different stops. My favorite part was the ability to independently explore each area for about 45 minutes each to an hour. He would share the go to spots to explore in each city. It was lovely to choose which areas and roam the city as a couple. There were so many local artisan shops to buy unique gifts from. Overall it was such a fun and relaxing day! It was one of our favorite tours the views were just unbelievable.. 😍

From the first moment we set off, Richie was such a fun tour guide, telling us interesting and funny things about the area. He told so many legends of the places we went, terrible histories and fascinating facts. I wrote pages afterward in my journal. He also dropped us off at places, recommended highlights, then left us to wander at will which was awesome as it meant I could browse in craft stores or just walk by a river. So even though we squashed a lot in, it did not feel like just a fleeting glance or rushed. His music was suited to the tour and all in all it was the best day- worth every cent.

Three impressive locations in one day! I saw so much that I’ll be processing my photos for days. Wales is beautiful, even in the pouring rain.
Things I wish I’d known:
There are stretches of as many as three hours between bathroom breaks. You’d better be able to hold it because options are few and far between.
The mini bus has double seats and single seats. The heaters blow full blast under the single seats. 💺 🥵If you’re menopausal - stick with the much cooler double seat side. If you’re perpetually cold, then the single seats will warm you right up.
All of these locations, including the Conwy castle, are essentially outdoors so bring your ☂️🧣 or other gear you need for being exposed to the wind/rain. But you can also leave stuff on the bus throughout the day if the rain dries up.

My husband and I do not usually take organized tours when on vacation but compared the cost of renting a car with taking a tour and it seemed reasonable so thought we'd try Rabbie's. We're very glad we did! Our guide, James, was knowledgeable and personable, the spectacular Snowdonia countryside was gorgeous and the town of Chester was very interesting. It was an enjoyable day and we got to take a break from planning everything ourselves.

Good overview of the area. Our biggest complaint is that the mini bus seats are super uncomfortable. It is a long time to sit in a cramped (we are not big people) seat that has no ergonomic design left. The extra cost for the castle visit is above the cost of buying on your own. Knowledgeable driver.

The tour "Snowdonia, North Wales & Chester" has the ambition to give participants the opportunity to visit many places in just one day. However, we ended up not having enough time to visit any of those places properly.
The part of the tour dedicated to Snowdonia was ridiculous: we just drove past the region for a few minutes. Many participants, including myself, expected to spend a bit more time in the Snowdonia.
Then we headed to Chester where we stayed for just one hour, which is too little even to have a proper walk in the city centre.
The programme in the website says that the tour finishes at 19:15. Unfortunately this is not true because the driver dropped us off at 18:30 at Manchester Piccadilly station. We could have at least spent a little more time in Chester.
I expected to have a good experience from this tour and I trusted Rabbie’s, but I was truly disappointed. It was just a waste of time and money.

Hi,
We've already been in touch with you about your time on tour and we are truly sorry you didn't enjoy it.
It's important to remember the return time is approximate and this is to allow for situations out of our control such as delays and traffic. It seems like this time you had a fairly good run through the day and the tour was conducted as expected with multiple stops in Snowdonia and even some extra time in Chester. We really hope that you were able to enjoy all the beautiful spots on the journey.
Thanks,
Jo

Tour was awesome! Tour guide Chris is excellent! More than we had hoped for! We mapped out visiting Conwy Castle on our own, not only would it have been a waste of time and money as that would have been the only destination of the day, we would’ve also missed the opportunity to visit Snowdonia, Chester, Betws-y-coed, to drive through the Welsh countryside with beautiful views of the sea and would have missed hearing the best and greatest stories that Chris, our very charismatic tour guide enthusiastically shared! We couldn’t have picked a better provider and they couldn’t have set us up with a better guide. Hats off to Chris! Also appreciated his great playlist! Thank you for facilitating a great birthday memory that neither my husband nor I will forget.

This was our second Rabbie trip this week! Another amazing experience! Loved Conway castle and town. Snowden park was amazing! It would have been great to perhaps stop at another location for more photo opps in the park. Chris actually added a stop as is. Chester could have been the day on its own. Chris, our guide/driver was fun, knowledgeable, easy going, and professional. These two trips with Rabbie makes us want to take everything they offer. Love the philosophy and intimate/relaxed experience.
