- tessam8120 contributionsUnique and Fun Tour That Should Not Be Missed! My husband and I chose to do the midday tour and I wasnt sure what to expect with a food tour of a city but this was so fun and something you HAVE to do if visiting Galway. Sorcha, our guide, was fun, knowledgeable and made the tour very enjoyable. We got to try so many local food and drinks that I almost had to pass on the ice cream at the end. PSA: DO NOT skip the ice cream. This was a very unique tour that I would highly recommend. I am going to refrain from posting pics as I think being surprised by the variety was half the fun!Written August 25, 2024
- Z5314YPcm0 contributionsFantastic tour!!!This was an unforgettable tour!! We learned so much about Galway and had an amazing time! We tasted great whiskeys and visited incredible pubs. Our guide, Donnie, was fantastic. He was very knowledgeable and delightfully funny!Written August 1, 2024
- jaclynb5460 contributionsExperiencing delicious food and satisfying our thirst for knowledgeWe were a party of 8 and all of us were blown away by this tour. Fantastic guide, food, and drinks. Highly recommend if you’re looking for historic knowledge sharing and great food off the beaten path. We would have never come across the eateries without this tour.Written July 13, 2024
- amandakB4815EM0 contributionsWonderful bites and tips for shopping/eating in Galway. This was a great experience. Our guide, Daniel, was witty and informative and gave us a good tour. The only feed back would be to work a beer or wine into the line up. We had a taste of whiskey and moonshine with some wonderful cheeses, and a cocktail with a substantial food spread at the end of the tour, but there was in middle place. Ean?, that had wine bottles all over but we just had water. Or allow the people the ability to order a glass of wine.Written June 29, 2024
- Neil_in_NJ0 contributionsGreat tour, tour guide, tons of great food and a great experience overallJust finished a 3 hour tour with Michelle. What an amazing experience and tour guide. Bring an appetite because you will leave full of food and a great understanding of the local cuisine and town. Can't recommend highly enough. Do it, I promise you will not be disappointed.Written February 2, 2024

- 217maryanng0 contributionsGastronomic Adventures in Gorgeous Galaway 🇮🇪💚Such a nice variety of foods and places were included in our trip. Also it was good to learn about local farmers and resources involved in the tour. Everything was clearly explained, our tour guide gave us a historical perspective, too. And the food and drinks were great!Written September 29, 2023
- I2698PTfredk0 contributionsOur Galway highlightWas one of the highlights of the trip. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and fun, and encouraged our normally picky youngest child to try both mussels and oysters! (The mussels were a hit, the oysters not so much! 😉) We revisited several of the locations before we left Galway, and it helped make the city center feel more familiar. Do it early in your stay and you’ll definitely feel more comfortable exploring later.Written August 11, 2023
- MatzeRin21090 contributionsSo much more than expected!!We loved the whole tour and got so much more than expected. At first we thought it might be a bit expensive but we booked it anyways. And let us tell: it did not dissapoint in any way. I think all the food and drinks we had would have cost more if we went for all of them. And you wouldnt do that normally. There were so many great and delicious experiences! We gladly would have given a tip at the end but our touguide Anais had to go to the next tour pretty abruptly so maybe it would be a good idea to make something like a paypalaccount for people to leave tips in the end! I think all of the prticipents would have loved to, because it was just an amazing tour and Anais was so lovely!Written April 20, 2023
- StephanieSOK0 contributionsGina and tour were both excellent!Had a wonderful time with Gina! She was knowledgeable and personable, while taking us through the tastes of Galway over two plus hours. Highly recommend - our group of 5 ranked this as a highlight of our trip.Written April 18, 2023
- 67312150 contributionsHistory tastes better with Galway food tours.I appreciate how we went Away from the main area to explore hidden gems of chocolate and croissants at Truffles, sampled drinks and food that I would not have found on my own. Anais explained everything in multiple languages and made sure everyone of all ages and food and beverage preferences was completely taken care of.Written April 17, 2023

Our tour guides were knowledgeable and friendly, and all of the people we met at different bars and restaurants were so cool! We learned so many different stories and histories about the Whiskey and the town. We will deff be back and we will definitely be doing more of their tours!!Written March 7, 2023
- Ken C0 contributionsFriday evening whiskey walkThe initial stumbling block - poor directions for the start point - will be addressed, which would have yielded a 5-star review. One other patron, and Joe and I were hosted by Anais. Four venues, with 2-3 tastings at 3, and a gin sampling at the distillery. Food samples at first was a great touch. All was quite easily walkable, and the whiskeys were interesting.Written October 8, 2022
- Orla E0 contributionsAmazing whiskeys and wonderful TourMe and my Partner were on the whiskey tour and we really loved it! We tried many different spirits and were told all about the history of the beverages, how and where they are produced and the history and stories about the pubs itself too. Highly recommend this tour, great to meet people in Galway too and have loads of fun :-)Written March 3, 2020

I spent 24 hours in Galway and I highly recommend this tour as a great way to get a taste of the history, culture and flavor of Galway in a limited amount of time. I had some life changing bites that left me with a love of the city. Book Wednesday through Saturday because earlier in the week many great Galway producers are closed. Also leave yourself some time( at least one meal time) after the tour in Galway to follow up on the great recommendation you will receive from your guides.

Excellent tour with Sheena this past week while in Galway, a great highlight of our trip. Her presentation of local proprietors and their stories was great and we loved the local sourcing of food and drink. We experienced drinks we’ve not had and found Galway’s great hidden food scene. Also a big thank you for accommodating our food allergies which was a big plus.

The tour was fun and our host, Sorcha, was engaging and knowledgeable. Keeping the group fairly small was much appreciated. I'd recommend just a bit less time in the cafe above McCambridges, and moving the whisky tasting to a bar would be ideal (thought I realize bars are very busy).

Galway Food Tours was the best introduction we could have had to Galway! We were a part of the afternoon food tour and it was the first activity we did after getting to Galway. We were able to try so many different places we never would have found on our own, get oriented with the city, and the other members of our tour were wonderful to get to know as well. The whole tour was well laid out where the food was ready for us right away upon arrival so you really get the most out of the 2.5 hours. Our guide Gina was absolutely fantastic and gave us so many insider tips and recommendations. She was incredibly friendly, took the time to get to know everyone on the tour, and made us feel right at home on our first day! The whole tour was focused on local sustainability and it really showed the heart of Galway which is the local businesses and people. We loved it as newcomers but had a couple who were local on the tour and they said the places were new to them as well so I would recommend to anyone! Overall we were so grateful for the wonderful food, the overall experience and the lovely Gina! Thank you Galway Food Tours!

Really enjoyed our tour with Sheena. Sweet and savoury treats with coffee, beer and whiskey tasting. Sheena is very knowledgeable about all foodie aspects and I particularly enjoyed learning about the art of chocolate making. She was full of good recommendations for eating in Galway and Clare. I recommend this tour but, a word to the wise, be hungry going on this tour. The food is gorgeous!!!

While visiting Galway City last week we had the best tour with Clare of Galway Food Tours. She brought our small group up the streets and alleys to the most wonderful shops, pubs, bakeries and restaurants. Our tour started with a sampling of coffees then down the street for the most delicious pastries and fresh made chocolates. Clare not only provided us with yummy treats but she was also very knowledgeable about the local economy and food sourcing available in Galway and through out Ireland.

This was such a fun day packed with a LOT of food. This is not just a sliver of cheese here and a small chocolate there. No; this was a full-on tasting tour including all types or Irish spirits. Our guide, Claire was knowledgeable and so personable. If you plan to book this tour, I recommend doing it early in your stay so that you can go back and revisit some of the wonderful places you visited. I highly recommend this tour. It will not disappoint!

This was a great introduction to the city and food scene. I highly recommend doing this tour as soon as you get into the city because you get a perfect mix of history, info on the touristy spots, as well as a great taste of the real Galway food scene. Our guide Emma was very knowledgeable, fun and engaging. She was also able to make many great recommendations for food, pubs, live music and other activities to fill up the rest of our trip! The food and history of how food has developed in conjunction with the history is the city is also very engaging and tasty.

EMMA ROCKS!!! If you’re an foodie, you must do this tour!! Great amount of variety of food cuisines, while learning more about the city. They have great partnerships with local restaurant owners, most of which source their ingredients locally & ethically. It’s a wonderful way to taste the evolution of Galway’s food scene over the years. You’re able to get off the main tourist packed roads while finding some local gems that are hidden on the main streets as well. Would do again. You’ll also get a list of other restaurants they recommend that were not part of your tour.

We really enjoy food tours when traveling both domestically as well as internationally. We loved our tour with Michelle! She provided so much great insight into local history and it was so apparent that she has a finger on the pulse of the impressive food scene ij Galway. We fell in love with Galway through this food tour and even went back to one of the stops for dinner! We also appreciated the nonalcoholic options along the way. Would definitely recommend this food tour!

Can we book for 2 people? If so, how do we do that?

We actually had a tour for just two and I would just reach out to them. Our travel advisor booked ours but if they did it for us I’m sure they will do it for you.

Hi. Is it possible to book the tour for 2 people or can you recommend any tours be it food, walking etc that allow bookings for 2? Many thanks
Written September 4, 2021
Hi. I'm not sure if you mean booking the tour for 2 people only or booking for 2 people to go on the tour. I would suggest you contact Sheena on Galway Food Tours. Otherwise, there's no problem in booking two places on the tour. Hope this helps.
