Connemara Day Trip from Galway: Kylemore Abbey and Ross Errily Friary
From $34.29
Overview
Take the pain out of exploring Connemara on this full-day coach tour. The cunning route takes in some of the region’s most scenic mountains, lakes, and valleys with stops at medieval Ross Errilly Friary, Victorian Kylemore Abbey, and the charming village of Cong. Perfect for lovers of architecture and landscape, your local guide explains everything you see.
What to Expect
Board your bus at Galway Coach Station and head out into the Irish countryside. Your first stop is the medieval tombs and serene cloisters of ancient Ross Errilly Friary. Next, explore the cobbled streets of quaint Cong village on the banks of Lough Corrib, and perhaps take the time to look at 13th-century Ashford Castle, now a hotel.
As you cross the border into County Connemara and travel around glacier lake Loch Na Fooey, your guide shares rich tales of Irish culture and traditions. Admire Kylemore Abbey, a spectacular lakeside edifice built during Victorian times, before returning to Galway by way of the Inagh Valley and Maumturk Mountains. Bid your guide farewell at the station.

Bus tour with Mike D. and Seamus

This was the only tour that I did solo and although Mike D. was a bit snarky I was glad that I did it. Mike D. did warn us that we needed to bring our sense of humor or we would not appreciate him -...More

I believe we were at the Kylemore Abbey for 2 hours. Definitely enough time to see the main sites there.

It's roughly a 15 minute walk. We didn't make the walk, but are of the understanding that the grounds are private.
