Lorcan draws everyone in with his knowledge and ability to deal with any questions. It was a pleasure to have a little conversation with him in Irish. Great passion, great voice. Maith an fear!Written August 26, 2024

- Fauconberg0 contributionsSuperb Sunday afternoon tour with LiamSuperb Sunday afternoon stroll around Dublin with Liam who was a first class guide - engaging, entertaining and very informative. Set out the context building up to the Easter Rising, the conflict itself and beyond into the Irish Civil War exceptionally well. It’s a complex enough subject as well as one that’s emotive to this day as it shapes modern Irish history but Liam delivered it all factually and impartially…..which was good as we were (I think!) the only three English guys on the tour! The Rising was one of the seminal moments in the history of these islands and my understanding of it has been significantly enhanced thanks to Liam’s top tour.Written October 23, 2023
- sarahelizabethm20210 contributionsThe best tour in DublinIf you only do one thing in Dublin make it this tour, its the best money and time you'll spend. Lorcan is a welcoming host and, by the end of the tour, a friend. I cannot commend the tour highly enough, Lorcan's knowledge of Irish Republican history is second to none and its an experience not to be missed. - G4527BMdennisg0 contributionsMakes history come alive! It's always a pleasure to tour with someone who is both knowledgeable AND enthusiastic. Lorcan Collins brings an encyclopedic knowledge to this tour, able to dredge up the most obscure fact from the corners of his memory with ease. If you're interested at all in the origins of modern Irish history, you owe to yourself to spend two hours of your stay Dublin on the tour. Iontach maith, Lorcan!Written March 21, 2023
- Hannah K0 contributionsInformative, entertaining and excellent value for moneyMy husband’s choice - and a good one it was! Very informative and entertaining tour. It was great to learn about the facts from someone who is clearly passionate about it. I would recommend this tour - but if you’re tempted to grab a coffee somewhere else before the tour starts - don’t! Starting at the pub gives time for a drink there.Written October 12, 2022
- irvinef0 contributionsExcellent Tour - Highly RecommendedReally enjoyed this tour and I would advise it to tourists and people living here who want to learn more about 1916. - Whathasnotbeentakem0 contributionsPrivate Tour with Lorcan CollinsThis month I had the privilege of meeting Lorcan for a 2 hour private tour. In 2017 I took the 1916 Rebellion Walking Tour and was thoroughly impressed with the his knowledge and character. This time I was looking to secure additional information on Michael Collins. While having read numerous books on Michael Collins and about the War of Independence I was delighted to walk with him to Dublin places frequented by Michael Collins as well and discuss information on him. Lorcan answered inquiries, resolved questions and provided insight on many aspects of the life, times and experiences of the man. Highly recommend his book ( Ireland's War of Independence ) , his podcast ( Revolutionary Ireland Podcast ) and the 1916 Rebellion Walking Tour. In fact schedule a private tour and walk away impressed and completely satisfied.Written September 23, 2021
- N9221PMpeterc0 contributionsPure gold with a fair bit of green and white thrown-inWe could not have been in better hands than with Lorcan Collins. Lorcan brought this momentous time in Irish history to life with his encyclopaedic knowledge of the events and people that helped shape modern Ireland. He has a perfect manner and clarity of delivery. Lorcan will field any question "on the hoof", but still maintain the tempo and connection to the themes of the tour. There is so much to learn from the tour for everyone, whatever the level of your knowledge of Irish history. Could not recommend the tour more highly.Written February 12, 2020

- Westwanderers0 contributionsFascinating insight!!Lorcan met us promptly at “The International Bar” introduced himself to our group and began to take us all back in time. We were told about the prominent figures of the uprising, we visited important sights and all of which was enhanced by Lorcan’s knowledge, passion and keen sense of humour. A must for anyone visiting Dublin. Thank you Lorcan!!Written November 3, 2019

One of the best parts about traveling, in my opinion, is learning about the history and culture of that place. While there are many quality historical places and museums to visit in Dublin, this could arguably one of the best for me. Our tour guide was Tom, and he did a great job not only managing a very large tour on an incredibly hot day, but also in the way he passionately, intelligently, and respectfully delivered all of the information. In addition, he was a very personable guide, making sure to make a connection with the group, encouraging questions, and even offering great lists of cafes, bars, bookstores, and other places to visit in Dublin that suited the range of interests among the group. The final reason I’d highly recommend this tour is due to the fascinating history and stories I learned in the process including the the research the tour motivated me to do before, the information presented on the day, and the inspiration it gave me to continue learning about not only this moment in Irish history, but others as well, including iconic figures of particular moments, such as James Connolly.

I've visited Dublin several times, but saw the city in a whole new way thanks to the 1916 Walking Tour. Our guide was Lorcan Collins, who's not only extremely knowledgeable - having written several books on Irish history - but is able to communicate his wealth of knowledge in a way that's engaging and funny. You not only learn about the 1916 Rising, but about modern Irish history generally, and even contemporary politics. One of the people in our group is a history buff who's lived in Dublin for 40 years, and even he learned new things. If you're only able to do one walking tour in Dublin, this should be the one.

My son and I thoroughly enjoyed this tour. Lorcan really knows his stuff and is obviously very passionate about it. The tour was conducted at an easy walking pace with several stops at important sites and places of interest.
Lorcan is a great guide who is knowledgeable, informative and friendly and his delivery is brilliantly interspersed with humour too.
I’d highly recommend this tour and for 2 hours it is very good value.

This tour was fantastic! Our tour guide Tom was so engaging and informative..he really brought the events of the 1916 Rising to life, little details that you don't get from a guide book..to walk the same streets and be amongst the buildings, Dublin Castle and City Hall , where the events took place was truly an amazing experience. I cannot recommend this enough..from the introduction at the Internatoonal Bar ( where Tom gave us a potted history of Ireland from 11th century onwards to give us context) to the finish outside the GPO , this was a truly enjoyable tour that I would thoroughly recommend.

Spent my Saturday morning with Lorcan today and I have to say this tour does not disappoint. Lorcan is a fountain of knowledge and his story telling capabilities are an art form. Very special day spent with family learning all about the rising and the historic tales behind so many buildings and monuments I’ve walked past on a regular basis. Thank you Lorcan for a wonderful morning.

We booked a private group tour for our family, three of whom were visiting from abroad and don't speak much English.
Kate gave an excellent tour, with just the right amount of detail and always able to expand when asked questions on a range of topics.
She was also very generous and patient waiting for everything to be translated, even though this meant the tour ran over time.
I'd definitely recommend highly the tour in general, booking a private group, and Kate's expertise.

A young man whose name I believe was Tom filled in for Lorcan on the day of my tour and did an absolutely spectacular job of it. He delivered a compassionate and in depth overview of the 1916 rising, bringing to life the heroes of his nation. I deeply appreciated his talent for story telling - this history is sure to stick with me. He was also very attentive to questions of all sorts ranging from historical inquiries to bus routes and dinner recommendations. This tour changed my perspective of Dublin and I highly recommend taking it, whether you are familiar with modern Irish history or know nothing about it. Thank you to our magnificent tour guide!

I am a post-primary secondary school in Dublin that has been bringing TY and Leaving Cert History class groups to Lorcan's walking tour of the 1916 Rising about 9 or 10 times now. Lorcan is firstly extremely knowledgeable on the events of the 1916 Rising and has is capable of linking the details of the Rising back to parts of the LC history course which is a great added bonus for the students. However, most importantly, Lorcan is extremely engaging with the students and actively keeps the students engaged by asking questions and telling stories they that capitvate them. I myself must have attended the tour on 10+ occasions now and as a history teacher learn something new everytime.
I cannot reccomend this tour enough for Post-Primary history classes or just as a great way to fill an afternoon in Dublin.

A fantastic walking tour that lasted 2 hours on the button. Lorcan was incredibly knowledgeable and very skilled at weaving the narrative around each point we stopped at. If somebody brought up an interesting point in conversation he’d gather the group and expand on the point, linking it into the tour. He had a great sense of humour, so it wasn’t just a dry recitation of facts but a fascinating story of a very interesting period of Irish history. He handled some of the more tragic elements – such as the death of the O’Rahilly- with great respect and drove home very much that this was a story about the people and not just the places. By far the best 2 hours I’ve spent in Dublin in a long time.

The walk lasts about two hours or a little bit more as I recall but not exhausting as frequent stops. I have some difficulty physically with walking distances or too fast but I had no issues.
