- GuppeC0 contributionsBeautiful CathedralBeautiful medieval cathedral that I would consider a place to visit. The entrance fee is a fair price for the visit, not only the inside of the cathedral but also the crypt, some of the hsitory of the church and the religion.Written July 23, 2024
- damonw5300 contributionsGreat Organ recital in an ideal venueWe went to Christ Church for a free organ recital which is weekly during the summer season. The concert series is open to everyone and admission is free with a donation requested. The concert lasted 45 minutes and was excellent - IMHO there is nothing like the spectacular nature of a church organ played in a cathedral by an expert organist in our case it was James Short. If you like organ music we highly recommend attending one (or more!) of the series - we greatly enjoyed it!Written June 4, 2024
- ronnieB121130 contributionsEmotional visitI returned to Dublin after many years abroad, and revisited Christ Church earlier this week. As soon as I walked up I could see changes. The grounds are more landscaped than I remember. The charge of a visitor fee is new too, but understandable. I didn't opt for the audio guide. I prefer to do things at my own speed. Memories came flooding back as I walked up the nave, and when I reached the transepts I was holding back tears I was confirmed into the Church here many decades ago. I remembered some of my school friends who were too. Most of them are no longer with us alas. The crypt is a bit tidier than I remember too. The museum part is very well presented. The staff were very pleasant and attentive. I needed some clarification on a few things and approached a man at the desk. I didn't get his name but he had a real Dublin accent. I had a little chat with him on the way out, and it transpires he was born and bred in the Liberties where I hale from myself. He was very helpful. God bless you all for a lovely visit.Written May 23, 2024
- Salvotraveler0 contributionsAmazingWhen I think about Dublin the first think that come to my mind is the Christ Church Chatedral. One of the most photogenich building that you can find in Dublin. From outside the church is impressive, the interior is also noticeable and worth to visit. You'll receive an audioguide for a brief selftour for free. It's less crowded then St. Patrick Chatedral which made my visit super enjoyable.Written January 27, 2024

- mayccm20180 contributionsWonderful cathedral with cryptOriginally I planned to go St Patrick’s cathedral but came here firstly because we missed direction. However, we were attracted by amazing outside architecture. Wonderful cathedral - many paintings and glass windows. There was a collection in crypt also. Peaceful atmosphere.Written November 11, 2023

- KarenM1_100 contributionsStunningIf you only plan to visit one cathedral in Dublin, in my opinion, this is the one to see. The cathedral is visually stunning on the inside and out. It is a feast of the eyes. On the inside you don’t know where to look first: at the ceilings or the intricate design on the floor. I particularly loved the beautiful stained-glass windows and organ. We went downstairs to view the crypt and were surprised to see how large it was. We did not expect this. Also, downstairs is a large souvenir store. Allow at least an hour to visit. We did not buy advance tickets and had no issues getting in.Written October 5, 2023
- VivendaLuiza0 contributionsLovely building with a tremendous historical emphasisNearly went into Dublina by accident as came up to the cathedral from the rear and as ‘joined’ by archway over road - but cannot actually cross from the one building to the other. Beautiful stained glass windows worth a visit if in DublinWritten October 1, 2023
- ams920 contributionsDon't miss the cryptThere was wifi and a downloadable audio tour but it never worked properly for us so we just wandered around. The cathedral is beautiful and the crypt below is worth the price of admission.Written September 29, 2023
- CamillaBLin0 contributionsBeautiful exteriorIt's a shame that you have to pay to simply look at the interior of a church. The outside is extraordinary.Written September 27, 2023
- Ray W0 contributionsGreat tour while in DublinWe visited Dublin this summer as part of a tour group. We stayed right across the street and our guide arranged a tour of the church. I expected just a quick tour of the main part of the cathedral, but the tour was much more. We met up with our guide and toured the main part of the beautiful church. We then found ourselves climbing spiral stairs (which could be challenging for older or larger people) up to the bell tower. We also toured the basement with historical artifacts from the church. We all enjoyed the tour very much and definitely recommend the hour and a half tour. If you aren’t up to the bell tower tour, there are places to rest until the rest of your tour returns and you can join them. The staff was very friendly and helpful with questions.Written September 21, 2023
- Brienbut0 contributionsJust An Awesome ExperienceChrist Church Cathedral was a highlight in Dublin. We spent three hours in the Cathedral, wandering around on our own. We were provided with a download that would explain each of the stops along the way but wifi reception was spotty especially in the crypts. When you enter the Cathedral you are struck by the beautiful arches overhead, the stained glass windows, the baptistry, the nave, the pulpit and pipe organ. There are crypts below the Church itself that contain artifacts and collections, It is very well laid out and very interesting. We were treated to a choir performance for a Norwegian choir and the acoustics were a marvel. Make sure you visit this cathedral.Written September 20, 2023

The Cathedral is beautiful, especially the tile floors and the crypt was interesting. Definitely recommend a visit. My son and I purchased tickets on the way while in the taxi. The young girl at the desk when we walked in didn't even look at them and pointed us towards the sign where there is a QR code for the free phone audio guide. We were confused and asked what we paid for if the phone audio guide is free? It was then that she said we paid for the use of a headset which we then asked for. She couldn't have cared less about her job. The website is misleading. They should state that the phone audio guide is free and if you want a headset, then buy an admission ticket. It's a church so I considered it a donation to a good cause but if you are on a budget, no need to purchase admission tickets. Bring ear buds for your phone. Same thing.

Hi tatravelbug. Thanks for visiting the cathedral, and for sharing your feedback. Apologies for any confusion caused both on our website and in person - admission tickets sold online and onsite are for a self-guided tour of cathedral & crypt including an audio guide which is accessible with either a hand-held device, or by scanning a QR code and using on your own device, visitor's preference! There is a discounted admission rate available online also. Apologies again, and thank you for supporting the cathedral.

Sumptuous cathedral, fascinating inside and out, with various apparently contrasting architectural ideas but which overall give the sense of a majestic work worth seeing. But, I wonder, what is the point of charging a family with children 27 euros even if they want to make a quick visit without dwelling on the events of every corner? Disproportionate price for those who intend to make a quick visit (without tour). In contrast with the most beautiful Protestant cathedrals you visit, for example, in the United Kingdom. For the rest, as said at the beginning, an attraction worth seeing because it is undoubtedly worth it.

Thanks to all in the Christchurch Cathedral for an inspiring visit. Particular thanks to Deidre who was so welcoming and friendly. We spent well over an hour admiring this beautiful building, accompanied by a really interesting and informative audio guide that helped put the story of the cathedral in context through words and the wonderful music of the Christchurch Choir.

Visited October 2021. Tour is by leaflet, which is well laid out and highlights key items within the building. There are an excellent array of artefacts around the Cathedral and in particular, within the crypt. I would normally skip around an exhibition like this, but spent a good, enjoyable hour during my visit. Would highly recommend

Excellent visit. Front of house super friendly. Had bit of a panic as I lost my phone and they helped me find it! Very informative and we'll organised. Tour guide well informed and had time and a smile for you. Full of facts + stories!
Audioguide in German , French, English, Spanish and Italian. Very user-friendly , covers history, famous people, spiritual and musical add-ons. You can do a shorter or longer version. Safe, no crowds, spiritual and welcoming place. Art history lovers won't be dissapointed! Good value too. Many layers of beautiful artefacts, from sculptures to unusual floor tiles and artistic stained glass windows. To me this is the most beautiful cathedral in Ireland, very visually appealing and with an inspirational atmosphere to match!

We thoroughly enjoyed our experience in Christ Church. Upon arrival we were offered additional information leaflets by Enyo, a friendly Brazilian member of staff. Our tour guide Tom was very engaging with the group, competently explaining the history of the beautiful building. He welcomed questions and encouraged the tour participants to linger and explore the many artifacts. A chance to dress up and take photos makes this tour particularly family friendly.

I did the audio tour and it was very informative. I enjoyed listening to how the cathedral came to be what we see there today, and there are snippets of music performed in the cathedral that you wouldn’t get to hear pretty much any other way. If you listen to everything, it does take quite a while, but you get to choose your pace. There is a quick route marked on the audio tour that you can do if you are in a hurry but I recommend listening to all that you can as it is very interesting.

We enjoyed the self guided tour and the beaut of this church which is still has an active congregation. You can come for services or choir but check the days and time if interested. Has a grand history and interesting memorials. The architecture is impressive as are the stained glass windows. We paused for a quiet moment in the prayer alcove which was special. Enjoy and be at peace here

As an Irish person I unfortunately do not recommend this location. There are far better tours and sights available in Dublin that are worth the trip and price. If you want to visit a crypt, cross the road to St Michans Church. This crypt is taken over by a gift shop. 11.50 euro is too much for an audio guided tour which is essentially a QR code you download on your phone. Even if fully engaged you would not spend more than 30 minutes here. A guided tour might have been better, but it was not worth the self-guided experience we had.

Hi 106ajm. Thank you for visiting and sharing a review, although we're sorry to read that you didn't fully enjoy your time at the cathedral nor consider it worth visiting. Proceeds from our admissions and gift shop, go directly towards the maintenance and preservation of the cathedral. Thank you for this support.

Actually I went in May 20222 but I forgot to leave a review.
It was very beautiful place. And to avoid buying a ticket go there at the time of a service, in this way you enter for free, join the service and then can walk around for free.

Hi there , we are hoping to visit here during August, on a Saturday (17th). Do we have to pre book tickets or easily arranged there on the day? Thank you
Written July 9, 2019
You don’t have to prebook but if you’re going for sure I always prebook to save money as I plan out my trip. You can cancel most tickets up to the day before with a lot of sites like Trip Advisor

I will be in Dublin on a saturday and would like to take a guided tour at 2:00 or earlier if available. If tickets are purchased on line, how does one insure that the 2;00 tour will be available when the ticket is basically good for a year with no date specified? Is it correct that guided tours are only given at 2, 3, or 4 o'clock on Saturdays? Thank you
