About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- P8975HSdianas0 contributionsThe Best Way to See a Beautiful Place!THE best way to see the Emerald Isle! Accommodations were fantastic and our tour guide could not have been better. It was lovely to travel the countryside in a small group and then be given time to explore major sites like Giants Causeway, Slieve League and Kenmore Abbey. The herding dog demo and black cab tour of Belfast were just some of the highlights. I feel like I got a wonderful overview of the country. I traveled solo and always felt comfortable and welcomed.Written December 3, 2023
- Wanderer7149480 contributionsA trip of a lifetime, go while you can get out and explore. My husband and I celebrated our June birthdays in Ireland, the weather was amazing and scenery so beautiful. We went for 15 days and stayed in 7 locations, 2 nights per place. Not having to pack up everyday was a great idea. We went to Dublin, Belfast, Sligo, Galway, Killarney, Wexford and Kilkenny, drive over 3000kms and walk on an average 20000 steps daily. We searched for many lighthouses which brought us to many other interesting sites. I could write all day, some must sees are the giants causeway, the cliffs of Moher, the Cliffs of Kerry, the many beautiful beaches. Remember if you are renting a standard shift. The roads in places are very narrow and you are shifting with left hand, can be challenging the first couple days.😊 The People are extremely friendly.Written November 27, 2023
- noemiaT8152LP0 contributionsPatrick O’Mara, outstanding Tour GuideMy husband and I had a blast on this small group tour, thanks to our excellent Tour Guide Patrick O’Mara aka Pat. His attitude and energy are contagious topped only by his knowledge of history, culture, language and people skills. Request him and you’ll have a terrific time. We were so lucky to be part of an enthusiastic, silly, fun group that made the voyage memorable.Written October 27, 2023

- taralK617VH0 contributionsUnique and memorable experience with PatThe Good: - Local tour guide Pat O'Mara made this an exceptional experience. He is knowledgeable, witty (dry humour), flexible, genuine, and a great all-around human being. Ask him about meeting Seamus. - Activities were flexible. People on the tour could do different activities at the same time depending on interests and abilities. For example, in Westport, some of us shopped and explored the town, some hiked the shorter/lower trails of Croagh Patrick, and some went for the summit. - Small group meant we could make friends with our tour group buddies! Pat was adept at helping all the personalities meld, from the quiet small-town Canadians to the big New York personalities. - The bus was roomy and comfortable. Small enough to traverse little roads and stop at off-the-beaten-track attractions. - Overland Tours themselves were flexible and accommodating as well. When booking the tour, flight schedules were such that we had to arrive in Ireland a few hours after the tour started. Overland was understanding and reassured us that meeting up with the tour group later was not an unusual request. (Actually finding the group/guide was a different story, see below) The Bad: - Zilch. The just OK: - Some of the accommodations were just alright in terms of how comfortable the beds were. Otherwise though the B&Bs that we stayed at were cute and very friendly. - For those with modified schedules (e.g. arriving late), it would have been helpful to have more communication re: our modified start time from Overland. We ended up contacting Overland via emergency channels when we realized the night before our arrival in Ireland that we didn't know who our tour guide was or where exactly to meet them. It all worked out in the end, however.Written October 15, 2023
- abbyfG8812WL0 contributionsAmazing ExperienceI had a blast on the 7-day tour of Ireland! It was like a whirlwind adventure filled with amazing spots. We kicked things off in Cashel, where the Rock of Cashel gave us a taste of Irish history and stunning views. Blarney Castle was a blast - I kissed the Blarney Stone! Dingle was all colors and good vibes. Kilarney National Park was a refreshing escape into nature. And the Cliffs of Moher? Wow, what a view! The Aran Islands were a step back in time, and Galway had the best music and food. But the real MVP was our guide, Pat O'Mara. He made the history and stories come alive, and his friendly vibe made the trip extra special. This tour is an absolute must if you want to see the real Ireland with an amazing guide. Don't miss out!Written October 14, 2023
- OnAir140151474540 contributionsA wonderful experienceReally enjoyed our time in Ireland and our experience with Overland Tours contributed to that. A big shout out to Eion our guide on the 7 day emerald explorer. Without a doubt Eion put the icing on the cake with his demeanor and great info on his beautiful country.Written October 13, 2023
- markwF430OB0 contributionsGateone ExcellanceI would rate the services that my wife and I received as first rate all the way. The tour guide (Jaime) was outstanding. Our driver (Martin) was an amazing driver. The hotel accommodation were excellent. We visited Dublin, Belfast, Derry, Westport, Galway and back to Dublin. The weather was quite rainy, and Jaime found a way to alter some things to keep the group dry. I would do another Gateone Tour in a heartbeat. As a former coach bus driver who has taken many passengers on various tours around the USA, this was the best tour group I have ever been with. 5 stars on this tourWritten October 11, 2023
- 1LisaF0 contributionsOutstanding Travel with Overland Ireland TourOutstanding! The Overland Ireland Great Atlantic Adventure (small group) tour was just as advertised but even better than expected. Our guide Pat O'mara was exceptional. Pat paid attention to all the details, small and large, and made sure all participants were informed, comfortable with their activities and safe whether we were together or doing individual activities. Pat shared his vast knowledge about Ireland, the history and sights, including some lesser known places of interest to visit. Pat's sense of humor added to our fun and helped to create a sense of camaraderie. Aside from general history, Pat provided specifics about each place we visited and suggested restaurants and pubs for various types of music and Irish Set Dancing. Lodging was walking distance from all major activities/sights. Our tour was comprised of 14 people of various ages from as young as 10 up to people in their late 70s. You could choose which activities were best suited for you or opt for down time. We went primarily south and west in Ireland and stayed in small guest houses or lodges with a few hotels - breakfast was included at all properties. Places visited included but are not limited to: Rock of Cashel, Blarney Castle and gardens, Kinsale Walking Tour with local guide; Kenmare; Killarney National Park, bike ride though the park including stops at Muckross House and walk to Torc Waterfwall; Dingle, sea kayaking, Slea Head drive, Coumeenoole Beach, Blasket Island Visitor Center, Dunmore Head Hike, Clogher Beach, Gallarus Oratory; Conors Pass, Sheepdog herding demonstration, River Shannon Ferry, Cliffs of Moher hike; drive through parts of Burren National Park; Galway walking tour with local guide; Aran Island ferry to Inishmore -local bus tour or guided bike ride to various parts of the island, walk/hike to Dun Aonghasa Fort; drive through Connemara Mountains, photo stop at the Killary Fjord; Westport, time in the town and hike nearby Croagh Patrick or some of the trails instead including Murrisk Loop hike/walk. Ask for a tour with Pat when booking! We had a fantastic time and have tremendous memories. Overland Ireland had less active tours and ones to other places in Ireland. I highly recommend the company. Enjoy your travels, we did.Written October 9, 2023
- B7906PUjessicas0 contributionsLife changing experience!Absolutely the best experience I've ever had. Each day was filled with history and tours of the local communities we visited. I really enjoyed having a small group (16 ppl) who all turned into family after the first day. Our tour guide had deep knowledge of each town and what makes it unique. Overland went above and beyond for me when my luggage was delayed arriving in Ireland. They made calls to the local airport and people they knew to help me. I appreciate their extra effort so much! Bridgette and Jessica are absolutely the best! Sometimes the weather forced us to change plans but every time we were met with an alternate plan quickly so we didn't feel like we missed out on anything due to rain.Written October 6, 2023

- jackiesX5924YP0 contributionsTrip of a Lifetime!!Words cannot truly express how spectacular our Overland Ireland trip was with Finn as our guide!! Fourteen of us just returned from the trip of a lifetime! Not only were the sights extraordinary but Finn entertained us with history and stories along the way that truly made us fall in love with Ireland! We biked through Killarney Park, visited the Cliffs of Moher and the Aran Islands, went on walking tours in Kinsale and Galway and visited a farm! Each day offered a new town and experience. Finn became part of our group in no time!! He was kind, flexible, knowledgeable and funny!! He ensured our large group had dinner reservations if we needed them in each town and quickly offered alternative activities, etc. if the weather wasn’t in our favor. We feel very lucky that we had Finn as our guide!! I highly recommend Overland Ireland and Finn!!! (Also a big shoutout to Jessica and Leah in the office for their organizational skills and prompt attention to questions!!)Written October 4, 2023
- Trail5845070 contributionsAbsolutely Spectacular!!I cannot say enough good things about or give a higher review of this trip and our guide, Finn! He was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. He made every van ride and stop interesting. His sense of humor really made the trip sensational. He fit right into the verbal judo that was going on amongst our group. Finn could give it and he could take it. He was also good on the fly and able to change plans with the weather or any special stops someone may have wanted to see. Every day had options for everyone. There was some hiking, some bike riding, some kayaking, some walking tours and if that wasn’t your thing there were always other options. The sights we saw were breathtaking! The hotel accommodations were great! Breakfast was included and there were stops for lunch everyday. Every afternoon there was time to explore our destinations, get dinner and visit a pub or two. I absolutely loved this trip! Highly recommend!Written October 2, 2023
- marjorief9640 contributionsGreat trip by van around IrelandFourteen of us went on a great trip with Overland Ireland. We left Dublin, traveled south and west to Cork, Kinsale, Killarney and Dingle. Then up to Lahinch, Galway and Westport. Finn was our driver and tour guide and he was outstanding! Finn was knowledgeable, warm, kind, considerate, and knowledgeable. He explained all that Ireland has to offer, and took us on terrific excursions. My wife and I highly recommend Overland Ireland and Finn 👍🇮🇪Written October 1, 2023
- Sarah W0 contributions☘️On the Road☘️Shout out & 5 ⭐️’s to “Danny the Driver” from the “On the road” group! Our trip couldn’t have been better! And this was due to Danny’s excellent driving and knowledge of Ireland history, past and present! We saw everything we had wanted to see! Then we saw things we had never expected to see. Great restaurants and pub recommendations too! I’m telling everyone this small group tour is the way to go. If you are fortunate enough to travel, book Overland! Hopefully you will be fortunate enough to have Danny as your guide!Written October 1, 2023

Cannot speak highly enough of our Overland Ireland tour! Our family of five took an individual, small group tour of Southern/Western Ireland from Dublin- a total 10 days.
Leah and Jessica were a crucial part of the planning process and helped with creating the perfect trip itinerary for our family, while also remaining cognizant of our budget. They were very responsive to emails and even met via video call to go over questions we had, which eased our anxiety about traveling abroad for the first time. They also were very helpful in establishing special reservations for restaurants and attractions prior to our visit, and updated us as changes were made to our itinerary.
Our journey started in Dublin, where we were charmed by the history of the Castle Hotel, and made visits to the Guinness Storehouse and Jameson Distillery, but our real journey began the next day when we met our driver Pat and ventured into "True Ireland". Over the course of our 10 day visit, we were able to see more than we ever anticipated and stopped at sites along the way that we hadn't expected. Some of our favorite sites included- the Rock of Cashel, Gap of Dunloe, Barry's walking tour in Kinsale, Muckross House, Ross Castle, Kylemore Abbey, the Blasket Center, Inch beach, The Quiet Man museum, Sean's walking tour in Galway, and Ashford Castle. Each day, Pat worked hard to personalize our trip and remained open to adventure! He was incredibly flexible and willing to adjust the schedule based on our needs for the day, and he always kept the van clean/tidy. Pat often had fantastic suggestions for food and shopping, and overall kept us well entertained with stories and conversation along the way! Pat truly became one of the family. The memories he created for us will never be forgotten, and would not have happened on a larger tour bus. Additionally, every hotel/bed and breakfast was clean and perfectly located. We enjoyed the breakfast selections and amenities. Each town also had a great selection of restaurants and local music.
On the final day of our trip, I can honestly say that we were all very sad to leave Ireland. The kindness of the Irish people, the beauty of Ireland's landscape, the rich history, music, and culture are unmatched. We just want to thank the team at Overland Ireland for making this trip so special and for creating amazing memories for our family! We will be back soon and there is no other company we would rather travel. 110% recommend for small group/family tours!

Well planned, organized, scenic trip! Van size was ideal and comfy; just the right amount of travel times and well thought out destinations. I would heartily recommend the tour group as they provide so much personal and valuable communications before the trip. Pat O'Mara, our guide and driver on the trip, was exceptional! So personable and professional - knowledge combined with humor - he made everyone feel comfortable. He is so gracious and accommodating with the perfect balance of levity!! ...always checking in with us as to our thoughts or preferences. He guided a group of strangers to becoming a group of friends.

Our tour with our guide, Pat, was all we hoped for. With a small group of only 12 people, we had a comfortable van to travel in; our accommodations were all excellent from the 4 star hotel to the quaint Bed and Breakfast type inn. Pat was a very knowledgeable and interesting speaker during our rides, and clearly loves his country and what he does for a living. He went above and beyond to ensure we had a great experience. Highly recommend him and Overland Ireland.

I had a fantastic time on my 7 Day Ireland to Island Tour!!! Overland Ireland arranged for all the details of our 7 days ensuring we would have a fun, exciting, educational, comfortable and safe experience. Not having to worry about what to do, how to get there, where to stay made traveling with Overland the best decision we could make for me and my husband. We wanted to experience Ireland without having to spend our precious time figuring it all out.
Our small group was made up of people we quickly became good friends with. Our leader, Pat, was outstanding. He quickly made us all feel excited about Ireland and all it had to offer from its history, its landscape, its culture, its food, its music, its humor, to its people. He consistently made sure we all had what we needed to be comfortable and safe, and to have the best experience we could over the 7 days. Between Pat and the others on the group, we quickly became a tour family.
Not having to navigate the driving was one reason we chose a tour group, and Pat was extremely adept at managing those narrow, windy Irish roads. Our rides in the van were always very comfortable and broken up appropriately with stops along the way. We were able to leisurely enjoy the beautiful scenic view out the windows while listening to Pat inform us on Irish history, tell an Irish tale, or even sing an Irish tune! Pat not only informed us of the itinerary for the day's events, he always gave us lots of Irish history, stories and background so that we would appreciate what we were seeing and doing that day. The events planned were exciting because Pat often took us to the less known "touristy" spots off the beaten path. This really gave us an appreciation for all Ireland had to offer. Our accommodations were excellent. Most were in 4 star establishments. Rooms were nice sized and beds very comfortable. No AC, but this is typical of most guest housing in Ireland. The included breakfast was more than enough, with plenty of choices that filled you up through most of the day. Midday we always had opportunities for a lunch meal with recommendations from Pat. Pat always made sure we were good for dinner, by either making reservations for the group or suggesting other great alternatives. There was no need to refer to yelp when you had Pat! Our overnights were always close to the town's center in order to grab a pint, listen to live music, or enjoy delicious handmade ice cream with flavors such as Dingle Sea Salt, Irish Brown Bread or Chocolate Whiskey at the days end.
This tour is listed as a "more active" experience, however there were lots of choices given within this tour. If you were not interested in doing the planned activity Pat was ready with a great alternative. (Although all the planned activities were great!) Some highlights included climbing Skellig Michael, kayaking in Killarney National Park, touring the Midelton Whiskey Distillery, sheepdog demonstration, walking the Cliffs of Moher, biking on the Aran Islands, and sooooooo much more! Sometimes we stayed with the group, but we also had plenty of opportunities to be on our own to explore.
This trip was incredibly special and meaningful. It is hands down, the best way to visit the Emerald Isle. Thank you to Overland Ireland and thank you to Pat for making it such a wonderful experience for us.

This trip was incredibly special and meaningful. It is hands down, the best way to visit the Emerald Isle. Thank you to Overland Ireland and thank you to Pat for making it such a wonderful experience for us.

We'd never done a guided tour before and we definitely had our trepidations about being locked in to a set itinerary with a group of people we did not know. Suffice it to say that Pat, our guide, put our concerns to rest within minutes. The group of folks was grand and he proved to be more than an adept and affable guide.
Pat took us to highly touristed sites like Rock of Kashel and Blarney Castle and grounds as well as far more unique sites like Skellig Michael and various places off the beaten tourist trail to castle ruins and Viking settlements with equal depth of knowledge and aplomb. There was time to listen and learn and there was ample to time to explore on one's own and then debrief with Pat after the experience. Or not. That was the beauty here. Choice.
As advertised, there was a great deal of flexibility within any day's given itinerary. For instance, slightly adventurous folks could take an e-bike tour of Galway while those less inclined could take a driving/walking tour of the city with Pat. Options abounded. Further, evenings were always free for a pub or three, a meal with fellow travelers or on your own, and plenty of opportunities for trad music.
Highly recommended!!!

I don’t think you could find a better tour anywhere. Our experience with Overland Ireland exceeded all expectations. The tour offered a wonderful variety of really fun experiences, each one awesome in its own way. The tour was well thought out, organized and executed. We were a group including a 79 year old grandma, 15 year old boys and several ages in between. Each of us had an equally excellent time, with options to suit every age and ability.
Beyond the great tour, our tour guide, Pat, really made the experience extra special and memorable. Many laughs, a local perspective, and a ton of great information about everything we were seeing.
Thank you for such an amazing trip!!

I made a booking and after three hours it was cancelled without a notice and a note. Why would you keep the date open for booking when you can not provide the trip? I lost money on a non-refundable flight tickets and the hotel bookings that I purchased specifically for this tour!

The title of this trip is "from Limerick" but the description is from and back to Dublin. I guess I should look at your website. Thought you might want to fix this.
