I had a nice and pleasant day at the Irish Rock'N Roll Museum! Our tour guide, Alan, was wonderful, kind and friendly. He gave us an interesting and well-informed account of the history of Irish rock. He always punctuated his explanations with enjoyable pieces of trivia, witty remarks, funny anecdotes and personalised interactions and comments with all members of the group, which made everyone feel welcome. The short video we were shown during the tour was an interesting addition, which offered new perspectives on the topic.
As for possible points of improvement, I think it would have been good to have seen the guitars of Rory Gallagher which were not on display today. I also think we could have spent maybe a little more time looking at the different objects, instruments, guitars and albums that were on display across the museum and learning a bit about their individual histories and inner lives, such as when they were used and in what venues.
Overall, this was a delightful and fun experience, which I will remember fondly! I would recommend this museum to anyone interested in discovering the rich legacy of Irish musical culture and its variegated international influences. Our guide Alan closed the tour with a meaningful, moving and thoughtful reflection on the power of music to connect people from different backgrounds who nonetheless share a common passion, emotion(s) or experience(s) related to music. Music shows us everything we share as humans beings, and this museum is an excellent reminder of this important lesson--though some of us may be "a million miles away"...

Hi Thanks for taking the time to leave us a review. We're happy to hear you enjoyed your tour with Alan and will be sure to pass on your compliments. We are working to bring the Rory Gallagher guitars back to the museum. Currently they are on loan to another exhibition abroad which they had been promised to pre-pandemic by the Gallagher family. We have only recently reopened post lockdown and are constantly working to improve the experience based on customer feedback. If you took any photos of your visit we'd love for you to share them with us online. Kind Regards The Management Irish Rock N Roll Museum Experience

I am from Dublin and it appears that there are not a lot of Irish people availing of this wonderful experience. I would highly recommend it and I found the tour guide Alan, very informative and amusing and I really enjoyed this experience. I went with my grand daughter as she is really into music and she was invited to play the drums which really made her day.

I learnt a lot and really appreciated all the knowledge Alan had, which he shared with humor.

The Staff were lovely and courteous and it was a pleasure to avail of this experience, Thank you! Patricia

What an happy accident this visit was, we were booked into another Whisky distillery tour but decided to go round the Rock 'N' Roll Museum Experience. And we were so glad we did, it was such a great tour and it will be forever etched into our memories of Dublin. Such a rich and diverse history into Irish musical legacies and the impact that the artists had and have on world music scene.
We couldn't highlight this experience enough and especially if you love your music, from seeing amazing rehearsal rooms that the likes of U2 have used, to seeing all the kit and equipment and then having a few of us on our tour play and have a jam with the guitar, bass and drums. It was such a great experience that we will be talking about over the dinner table for many years to come.
And if you ask for Alan you'll be in for a real bonus, such a great tour guide that is worth the price of admission alone, he was so approachable and knowledgeable, it was like a chat in a bar with an old friend that clearly loves his Rock 'N' Roll and his beloved Dublin and Ireland.
p.s. if Alan's boss is reading this, he needs a pay rise (he has kids to feed)

I'm so glad that I got to take this tour my last day in Dublin! Alan was an amazing guide! Very informative, engaging, told some impressive annecdotes about Michael Jackson's time in Ireland, getting members of Metallica to play music there in the studio and the white lie he told a Rihanna fan. The wealth of knowledge he shared about U2 and Thin Lizzy was nothing short of impressive, and I'm only vaguely familiar with their music. Throw him the name of an Irish musician or band, and he became a human encyclopedia! I highly recommend making time to visit this museum while you're in town. You won't be disappointed, but if you are, well, your life experiences are what you choose to make of them.

We had been told about the Irish Rock 'N' Roll Museum by a family member who had visited a while back. I had added it to the list of things to do when visiting Dublin and made sure that we carved out some time for it. And, man, was it worth it! My dad, sister, and I had a great time with our tour guide, Brian. He was knowledgeable and had so many wonderful stories of the musicians that have graced the halls. His personal touches really made the experience. As musicians, it was really enjoyable to see all the different aspects of the studio. Our favorite part was the Thin Lizzy room with the Neve mixing console. My dad is a recording engineer and hadn't seen one of those in person in many, many years. There were only about 9 people (4 groups) on our tour total, so we were able to ask tons of questions and take as many pictures as we wanted. This day ended up being one of my favorite days in Dublin!

Big thank you to Brian!

My experience at this museum was absolutely incredible. Visited with my grandmother who is not that educated on rock music, and even she enjoyed it! Our tour guide, Alan, was a very nice person and also very knowledgeable. He treated us very well, and even let me try out the drums in the band rehearsal room when he found out I played (the kit was used by some of the greatest drummers ever)! The museum itself was extremely interesting, and had a lot of great memorabilia from many Irish artists. As a religious Thin Lizzy fan, I was in heaven. I’d recommend this museum to anyone, even if they weren’t that interested in music. I think anyone would find it fascinating! Will definitely come back one day.

Excellent tour not just for the knowledge but the experience of seeing the artefacts of history that have shaped Ireland's rock n roll landscape. Best of all our host Bex was so amazing. You just want to turn her into an app every time you play an Irish record so that she can pop up with a smile and tell the background story with absolute passion. Brilliant experience and I would recommend it to everyone, even those who know the bands already. This gives a glimpse into the practice and not just theory. Well worth an afternoon stopover. Thanks Bex, Grainne and everyone.

Amazing visit! This topped off my second visit to Dublin this year especially our guide Alan who bought our experience to life. Alan’s extensive music knowledge was exceptional, from Rory Gallagher, U2 and as a huge Thin Lizzy fan I couldn’t recommend this tour enough, the might of Irish influence and popularity in music is bought to life. My partner who barely knew some of the artists enjoyed this tour just as much. Glen was also great in adding to the tour. If you love music please visit because the Emerald Isle has contributed to music history in a really big way! Thank you Alan for topping off our visit with lasting memories. Georgina and Alec x

What a great experience! Our tour guide Bex knew so much about the history of rock and musicians. She filled the time with fun stories and anecdotes in addition to share the incredible history of the building and recording studio. She clearly had a passion for music and it’s infectious. When all was said and done with our incredible time in Dublin, both my boys (9 and 12) said this was their favorite place.

Tour Guide Alan was excellent company for this trip around the long and varied history of Irish rock. The museum is an element of a rehearsal/recroding studfio and live venue complex which has been - and is today - part of much of that history so it includes meoropabilia from Thin Lizzy to U2 and even Michael Jackson (a long story involving pyjajmas!)

It's entertianing, informative and fun.

The group I was part of was small and incldued people from Sweden, Australia and Belgium as well as me - the Brit. Alan did a great job of involving everyone in a very intearctive way that reflected our musical interests; he never spoke 'at' us.

I stumbled across this by accident but I'm very glad I did as it was one of the highlights of Dublin for me.
