This is the best and most efficient way to see the cultural highlights of Dublin. I would recommend booking this tour early in your trip as we learned of multiple things we needed to see throughout the city. Our guide, Gerry, was terrific and told intriguing and interesting stories about the history of Ireland. Tour was only 20 people so very intimate. Perfect for teens!

We enjoyed being with our guide, Frankie, as he gave us some entertaining and informative background on Trinity College, the Book of Kell’s, and other interesting things as we went out into the city. This is a good experience if you want an overview and we were happy with it. If you want to spend a long time in the anteroom of the exhibit itself , read every display, or listen to the audio tour, this is not for you. We did not feel rushed but were aware that we should keep up with the guide, which was just right for us. Not sure why it’s advertised as “fast-track, easy access” as we were just with everyone else who had a timed ticket (and it was pretty crowded on a Sunday afternoon) but we enjoyed having a local guide who gave just enough info and anecdotes to keep us engaged. Walking over to the Castle, we enjoyed more insight into that part of the city.

We had a wonderful guide for the Book of Kells visit to Trinity College yesterday. Neal McCourt, with letszgo city tours was chock full of historical fact and figures and wove all of them through interesting stories, legends and tall tales. We loved it!
The Long Room of the Old Library is a stunning space, the shopping districts charming and Dublin Castle a fitting end to the tour. I will recommend staying longer than ten minutes in the antechamber to the Book of Kells. It is full of gorgeous reproductions of the illuminated pages and curated exposition about the book.

We were unable to locate our guide because the designated meeting place was a closed entrance to Trinity College. We looked for an hour and a half, and all the security guards were looking for the guide as well. We called the contact telephone number twice, left 2 messages, but still no call back 2 days later. Have emailed them and requested a refund but have not been able to locate any humans. Save your money or go with a reputable company who will respond to issues and problems that arise.

We were excited about seeing the Trinity Library and Book of Kells and we booked a tour as we wanted someone to tell us more about it before and during our visit. However, our guide was really just the ticket handler, he gave us a little intro about the book before we went inside, but it was very light in content and we could have easily read what he shared with us. Also, odd that they have you meet your guide at the main gate but then you have to walk to another gate to go in to the tour. And it was annoying that the guide made everyone wait for people who left the group to find a restroom, people should use the restroom before showing up for the tour.
He brought us to the door and into the room with exhibits and then we were on our own. We saw another group with a tour guide getting insight on the library, but it was in French or else we would have hovered nearby to hear what she had to say.
We did not go to the Castle with the guide as we had already visited it during another walking tour a few days before.
We recommend you book a tour directly with the college (it looked like they have student lead tours available), or with a guide that will stay with you and give you a real tour.

I would recommend booking this tour for the extra information and tips for the Book of Kells. I would also recommend booking the first tour in the morning - yes it might be an early start for one day on your holiday, but beating the crowds is priceless. The walking tour to Dublin Castle afterwards is very informative and helped us shape the rest of our day to enjoy Dublin.

We had really enjoyed our tour at the Trinity College in Dublin thanks to our guide Brian, a really amazing guide that makes you want to know more and more about city’s history, involves you with his enthusiasm for history. We had learned a lot about the city, much more than we could by our own.
Thank you and see you soon.

We loved the tour. HOWEVER, it very clearly states Fast track, easy access, enjoy the tour without crowds. All of that is outright false. We loved our tour guide. He was fabulous and very informative in a story-telling way which I loved. I did book this for way more money than just a Book of Kells ticket due to the fast track, avoid the crowds claims. After meeting at 745am, chatting, getting initial information, we walked over and got in line... behind the rest of the public (at least 75/80 people by the time we got in line) with tickets for 830am. There was no "fast track", no "easy access", no "enjoying without the crowds". Which is fine but don't outright lie about it. I felt duped and spent a lot of money for something advertised and not received. Otherwise, as previously stated, we very much enjoyed our guide and I would give him 5 stars. The actual tour I give 2 stars due to false advertising.

Hi Jolene, there's no false advertising. Firstly, thank you for your 5-star review of the guide. Dublin is so busy right now due to the popularity of the destination and the day you visited was particularly busy. You were indeed in the fast prepaid line. The other line which the guide pointed out to you went around the other side of the Square. Also, we checked with the guide and you were in line for less than10 mins during this time he shared lots of fascinating insights into aspects of Irish medieval art. We are delighted you managed to see one of the most important cultural icons of Ireland in the company of our award-winning expert local guides. Best Regards from all the Team.

Great tour of Downtown Dublin, and our very informative and funny tour guide Neil was great for sharing information about the Book of Kells and the Long Room, pointing out the things for which we should look, and sharing city history from the times before the Vikings came to Independence at Dublin castle. He shared local insights both ancient and contemporary. And he had lots of good (?) physics jokes to share!

Brian has a passion for Irish history that is contagious; he made me want to learn more about Ireland's fascinating and complicated history. His storytelling style was compelling and powerful. He also has a playful sense of humor that was appreciated! And, I liked the fact that Brian clearly laid out our schedule: first we'll do this, it will take this long, then we'll do this, etc..... Highly recommend, this is an experience not to be missed!
