About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- rfamily1230 contributionsYou should do this!My parents decided to book this tour and it may have been our favorite part of the trip, particularly thanks to our wonderful bus driver, Johnathan. He was not only incredibly well-informed about all the sites we visited but also had a fantastic sense of humor that kept us entertained throughout the day. We traveled during a chilly time of year, but honestly, it was perfect! There were hardly any crowds, and we got to enjoy all the stops with no lines at all—an added bonus that we didn’t expect. One of the highlights of the day was when Johnathan sang some traditional Irish songs. He’s got an incredible voice —so much so that my family has still been singing those songs (especially the Rattlin’ Bog) even though we toured a few days ago! We joked that he should sell CDs because we would buy them in a heartbeat. The entire day flew by, and I can honestly say that Johnathan made all the difference. His friendly, engaging personality and incredible singing talent turned an already fantastic tour into a truly unforgettable experience. I know I can speak for my mom, dad, and brother that we highly recommend this trip! ... Especially if you get Johnathan!Written November 30, 2024
- Andreakonti0 contributionsExcellent experienceExcellent experience!!! Professional and very friendly driver & guide!!!! The only remark that I should do on the schedule, is the stoppage at Dooling (as there was not much really to see), we could have lunch at Galway (although the lunch probably would be at 14.00+). Other than that, the experience was very good and is recommended 100%!!!!!Written November 26, 2024
- brandonhC8786PA0 contributionsGreat experience, knowledgeable tour guideMy girlfriend and I had an amazing experience throughout our whole tour. Our Driver and guide Jonathan made sure there were no boring parts in between our beautiful sight seeing stops entertaining is with vast knowledge of each stop we'd be going to and the rich history of Ireland as a whole. He even sang us some irish songs! We will be sure to use this tour company again as jonathan talked about all the other tours that are offered that sounded to cool to miss out on like the hill of tarah. If we are able to request a guide jonathan is the man.Written November 21, 2024
- D5489LJjamesp0 contributionsA long day trip but Derek made it a fun time! Many cool sites to see!We had a great time on this tour! It makes for a long day, as the bus left just before 7am and we returned to Dublin around 8pm, but it’s worth the long trip. Our driver Derek made it a fun trip with some great anecdotes and history of the areas we visited, and he even sang a few songs along the way! It was rainy and windy most of the day, but the Cliffs of Moher are still a sight to behold. The pub in Doolin was a great stop for lunch, the Burren park is beautiful but can be slippery when wet, and Galway is a city I wish I could have spent more time in. There was even a Christmas market during our visit with many local artisans and food vendors. Thanks again Derek!Written November 20, 2024
- sarahpG466WW0 contributionsA Wonderful TimeThis was such a wonderful day. Derek was such a friendly guide who made the whole trip a fun time! He was good at advising us on what activities may be limited by the rain that day and did his best to make sure we all have a great time. It's a long day, but I'd highly recommend it if you can! The journey and locations were absolutely gorgeous.Written November 20, 2024
- Trevor L0 contributionsI totally recommend…and Finn is a bonus!Absolutely loved the tour!! Twelve hours is just a long one day tour, and it rained a good bit of the day, so it wasn’t optimal. BUT our tour guide was just amazing!! Finn was one of the best guides I’ve ever had. Super friendly, and very knowledgeable and his voice was very pleasant. Sometimes with a long winded guide you can appreciate a pause, but not with him, I was enjoying every minute. Thanks Finn for really making the trip for us.Written November 19, 2024
- Ross F0 contributionsBreathtaking sites but disappointed with bus driver and no guide on bus.On October 25, 2024 we took this tour. Anticipating the driver/guide to be forthcoming as a guide should, we were greatly disappointed. As soon as the bus departed Dublin, the driver/guide did not introduce himself nor did we hear any insightful commentaries nor anecdotes about the region - as is highlighted on your site. Complete silence from him. Made for a very boring bus ride to the sites and back to Dublin. However, our self guided tours of the Cliffs of Moher, The Burren and Galway City are breathtaking and are highly recommend sites to visit.Written November 16, 2024

We had an awesome guide Jonathan who was friendly, a great singer, storyteller and very knowledgeable about Irelands history.Written November 12, 2024
- christopher w0 contributionsSafe, value, informativeThis was a great tour. It enabled me to see many sites and villages in a small amount of time. This tour is very timely, which is good. I could've used 20-30 min more at the cliffs and 20-30 min less at galway.Written November 10, 2024

- Quest663763401850 contributionsI would recommend Cullen, bus driver #10, as your tour guide. Sense of humour, knowledge and fun.We stayed in Dublin for our whole trip and took this day tour to the Valley of the Boyne. It was great to get out of the crush of the city. The sites were amazing. The age and time of the cairns, burial sites, hill of Tara etc. were so profound to imagine.Written October 28, 2024
- ghost240 contributionsHistory and Some RacingWe took the day tour of the Boneyard. Hill of Tara, Trim Castle, The Abbey and Hill of the Witch. All amazing. Be warned the walk up the hill is steep and can be challenging. I stopped at the last steep incline but the view was still amazing. Also be ready for some back road bouncing. Our van was airborne twice. Launched my phone into the roof. Tour was worth it.Written October 27, 2024
- 543floreb0 contributionsA bit of magicA great tour to discover the legendary Hill of Tara and breathtaking views of Ireland from Loughcrew. Our guide, driver 7 Jonathan, told us all about the myths and history of Ireland and surprised us with a couple of songs on the way back. We spent an excellent day!Written October 27, 2024
- S5215YSmb0 contributionsSuch disappointmentTour was cancelled without my knowledge. This app kept emailing me about my upcoming trip but the cancellation from the company never got to me. Me, Molly Malone, and two other tour orphans sat cold and alone in the wee hours of the morning waiting for a tour that didn’t happen. Luckily Wild Rover Tours offered to bring us along with them and saved our day.Written October 26, 2024

We were booked on this tour for Thursday August 3rd and we were phoned late Wednesday night to advise that it had been cancelled but it would be running on Friday. On Friday morning we woke at 530 am and arrived at the meeting place at 630am for our 650am departure. Along with the other passengers we were left standing there until 730am when they told us it was cancelled again. We left Ireland on the next day so due to the incompetance of this company we never got a chance to see the Blarney Castle. As we are from Canada we will not likely ever see it now. We had to fight for our refund as they tried to give us a credit valid for a year. They finally agreed to a full refund but that doesn't help us with never seeing what we came to Ireland to see ... very unreliable company I do not recommend

Took the Irish Day Tour to Blarney,Cork and Cashel. Rob our driver and guide was amazing, his love and knowledge of his country shows in all his actions. Loved Blarney more than enough time to see castle do a small walk around then quickly grab a bite before getting on bus if you manage time well. We had no lines at Blarney so there was time to walk the garden area. Then onto Cork instead of Cahir Castle(new itinerary) and although it was nice to see another city I would have preferred to go to Cahir Castle. We had a small walking tour of the city but I was not impressed and you can tell the citizens of Cork were amused by the tour, since it is new to their city. Then onto Cashel Castle, Rob gave us a brief history of the area and castle before arriving; it was by far my favorite stop. We were able to walk the castle and grounds at our leisure. The views from the castle, the inside as well as the cemetery was breathtaking. We would definitely book with Irish Day Tours again on our next trip. Thank you Rob for a wonderful day!

We went on the day tour of Blarney Castle from Dublin, the trip was great from the start , I think our driver had kissed the Blarney stone he could talk for Ireland but he was very good & knew his stuff. The castle is not big but it is great I have now kissed the Blarney stone which is quite a experience as you have to lie down & pit your head thru a hole in the wall to get to it.
We also stopped at a couple of other castles one on the way & one on the way back,if you like castles I would recommend this trip & the company Irish Day Tours.

The day trip was extremely well organised and very enjoyable.
Visiting all the castles was of course - amazing however I must confess the tour guide Harry really made the trip for me! He created such a comforting environment and he was ever so friendly, he’s very approachable too should you want to ask questions regarding Ireland etc.
The trip was very informative and I was constantly gripped by Harry’s commentary.
I cannot recommend this activity enough, a coach trip is definitely a must if you find yourself in Ireland and if luck is on your side you’ll have Harry as a guide too! You will not be disappointed.

Had a great day even though we were battling winds. In fact the wind was so bad that The Rock of Cashel was closed and our little bus was trying to be blown all over the motor way. Derek handled it like a champ tho and we made it to all our destinations safely and we're even given extra time at Blarney Castle and gardens.
I highly recommend once you're done kissing the stone that you spend some time wandering around the gardens or having a bite to eat in their renovated stables.

We had a really enjoyable day touring three castles. Our bus driver (Bud) was very chatty and informative, and on occasion broke into song. It’s a long day (12 hours), but doing it in a coach is reasonably easy. After driving for many days in a car, a day in a coach is very relaxing. We had enough toilet and food breaks not to create any problems (for me at least). Highly recommended.

While the sites themselves were great, the tour itself was regrettably poor. At our first stop to Cashel, we arrived two minutes prior to the time the driver told us to return, and found that he was leaving the parking lot! The only reason we got on the bus is because he had to get out and pay for parking.
At the next stop, when we arrived back to the bus even earlier, he then blamed us for being late at the previous stop!
At our stop to Blarney Castle, we were told to return again by a specific time, but the bus did not actually depart until nearly half an hour later despite all passengers having returned because the driver was standing outside the bus chatting with other passengers.
Blarney castle is a massive grounds and two hours did not feel sufficient to explore it. Additionally, each stop was so short that it was nearly impossible to get food except for at gas stations. After noticing that he was not checking to ensure other passengers were on the bus, and due to anxiety about being left behind, we ended up returning approximately 15 minutes early, further cutting into our time. Other passengers were also stressed about this, and one lady even got off the bus to see if she could find another passenger who was sitting in front of her to ensure she was not left behind.
The listing itself states that busses will be USB equipped, however our bus did not have any USB ports so do not expect to charge your phone on this 13.5 hour trip. The clock on the bus was incorrect. Additionally, the microphone was broken, so the driver did not actually give any information or history during our drive.
The driver also started the trip by running several red lights through Dublin!
As we took other trips through Finn McCool and had near a near opposite experience, we cannot recommend Irish Day Tours.

My Husband and I went on this trip with Philip as our guide. He was funny, kind, and a bit overzealous in his story telling, but in a good way. He had a story for everything!
The first place we stopped was the Rock of Cashel, which was absolutely gorgeous ruins. The walk up is a bit steep so be prepared for that! However the place was absolutely stunning. I will say of the three places we stopped this felt like the most time wasted. We have an hour at this stop and really we were done after 20-30 minutes and spent those standing around. I wish we could have had that time at our last stop.
The second place was the stunning Blarney Castle. With it being St. Patrick’s Day week it was absolutely packed with tour buses. My husband waited in like about an hour to kiss the Blarney Stone and I walked around the gardens. We wouldn’t have easily been able to do both due to the sheer amount of people. He thought the experience to the stone was great but said the stairs were extremely difficult and narrow. The gardens on the other had were just absolutely phenomenal. Tranquil and gorgeous really. They make you feel like you’re in another world. We have 2.5 hours here but being our lunch stop too there wasn’t enough time for everything.
The last place we stopped was Cahir Castle where we got a guided tour that talked about all the defenses of the castle. It was SO informative, and really one of the highlights of this tour. I do however wish we were given those extra minutes we spent standing around at the first tour here. We were rushed and after the guided tour and didn’t really have enough time to walk around and didn’t even get to see the gardens or overly friendly geese.
All in all it’s a fabulous tour, I’d highly recommend taking it if it’s the only way you’ll get to see these places. Though Blarney could be a whole day on its own!

Just went on this trip, and I have to say it was wonderful. Our bus driver Connor was great, and he even say a few songs while he drove our bus. Our drive involved a tour of several castles, in which our favorite was Blarney Castle. It was a bit scary, but my wife and I were able to climb to the top and kiss the stone. I suggest that everyone google the process before you, so you know what to expect.
The trip is quite long, as it was 12 hours. There is only a small amount of time at each stop, so it is a bit rushed. That being said, there is a lot of sightseeing packed into the day. Lastly, bring extra sweater, wear sneakers, and bring and umbrella. The weather can be cold and rainy. Overall a great trip, well done!!!

This was an incredible trip that I highly recommend. Our guide was interesting and knowledgeable, and we had plenty of time to really explore the extensive grounds of Blarney Castle and the beautiful area. We were impressed as well with the Rock of Cashel- such a humbling experience, and the gentlemen at Cahir Castle was so informative. I would absolutely recommend this tour to anyone who wants to go beyond the surface level of seeing these iconic places.

Go to the cafe instead of the food court. The Irish stew and fish chowder was amazing. It's a beautiful Irish pub with excellent service. Don't forget to have a pint, your not driving 😂

Could you confirm whether an infant can join this tour from beginning to end without needing an infant seat? The description states infants can join but then mentions both bring own safety seat as well as "must sit on lap."
Thank you in advance

Why is this different information from the one on the tour companies website (Irish day tours). On their website it states you will be dropped off at Dame Street or Riddlers Restaurant so which is it? Also their website doesn’t have time break down how accurate is the time spent at each place?
Written February 11, 2020
The Riddler's restaurant is an additional option that you can purchase with your tour. And at each stop you'll have a good amount of time at each place blarney castle was the most time spent

Written August 5, 2019
We were there in June 2019. Not a stop just for lunch but you can eat at the cafe at Blarney Castle. You will have to build it in to your visit time. By the way it was 1 1/2 hour wait to kiss the stone. We did kiss it but then had to gobble down lunch.
