- Linda A0 contributionsAmazing tour! A castle, the cliffs, lunch, the burren and Galway all in one day! This tour was so enjoyable and traveling by train was the best. John Todd our tour guide was helpful, pleasant, accommodating and informative. He was a wealth of information and a great picture taker! He really made the trip special. I highly recommend the tour. However the bus driver, Michael, was a very unhappy person and needs an attitude adjustment.Written September 12, 2024
- norarP2875DM0 contributionsVery good touristWas a great tour, our tourist John Todd was great, provided a lot of good information about everything we seen. I will recommend him to other people. The driver Michael was very rude no smile on his face. He looked miserable.Written September 12, 2024
- Cocoa-FL550 contributionsDay TripVery nice trip to see the Bunrutty Castle and the Cliffs of Moher. Norman gave a very good almost continuous dialog of what we were seeing. The Castle and surrounding old town were very nice and very pretty. The Cliffs were awesome and we were lucky it was a mostly clear day but very windy and cool. The city of Galway was nice and we had a great meal at Garvey’s Inn.Written September 12, 2024

- Brenda W0 contributionsYou Want Andrew as Your Guide! After a crazy time taking the train from Cork (where we were staying) to Cobh to meet up with the group, just so we could take the train back to Cork to begin our tour, we actually had a great time. I cannot say enough about Andrew, our guide. He was the nicest guy ever, and he made sure that after our rough start, we had a wonderful tour day. He was very knowledgeable, informative, and was so kind and helpful. I learned really interesting information about Cork that I would not have known without the tour. The Blarney Castle was so much fun, and the grounds are beautiful. I really wish we had had more time there, but we were on a timeline to get most people back to their cruise ship. At the end, Cobh was awesome, and we decided to stay a while because it was beautiful.Written September 6, 2024

- elvao1360 contributionsLocal lass goes soloI’m from Dublin and wanted to visit the Giants Causeway but didn’t want to drive. I found Railtours Ireland online and they fitted the bill for what I was looking for. I apprehensively booked on the day tour up North and yes I am glad I did! It was a super fun trip in no small part due to the engaging host who is a great representative for Irish Tourism. I have tons of photos and could write a paper on the Giants Causeway I now have so much knowledge. Thanks to Railtours Ireland, my fellow travel companions the bus driver Richard and Mr John Todd for such a great day out it was worth every penny.Written August 29, 2024
- erinwJ9797LE0 contributionsAmazing Giant’s CauswayWe had an amazing day with our guide, John Todd. Train ride was excellent. The weather cooperated, and even though we had a little rain, it cleared up by the time we got to the Causway. We got a bonus stop at Bushmill, too! Would definitely recommend this trip to anyone with time in Dublin!Written August 28, 2024
- Dreamer7827490 contributionsExcellent Tour by Train & BusAs we had never been to Ireland, this tour from our ship docked in Cobh fit our needs very well. We had a private railcar just for our group, which quickly took us from Cobh to Cork, where we transferred to a large bus. We then proceeded to Blarney Castle, where we spent several hours walking the gardens. The castle itself is empty and the line to kiss the stone was 90 minutes. After souvenir shopping and a quick lunch at Woolen Mills, we were off through Cork to our final stop at St. Colman's Cathedral. Andrew, our guide, did an outstanding job with his driver optimizing our experience. Andrew was not only very knowledgeable and personable but very cognizant of the time, as our ship was leaving in the afternoon. We will definitely use Railtours again when visiting Ireland.Written August 27, 2024
- bobboze0 contributionsThe only way to get around Ireland with excellent guides and carefree travel. We use Railtours Ireland whenever we're in Ireland, and this time was no exception. They scheduled us from London to Wales then on the ferry over to Dublin. We also did a day trip to Cork and then up to Belfast. They took care of our hotels, rail travel and had a guide for each trip. They make getting around Ireland so easy, pain free and educational. We've also recommended them to friends and each has come back bragging about how wonderful their trips were.Written August 25, 2024

The tour was excellent. We were accompanied throughout by an experienced, knowledgeable and interesting guide (Brian). Brian looked after all details throughout the tour, keeping everyone informed and on time. The accommodations were excellent. As for the actual tour, it was great. The pace was about right and there was always something interesting to experience. Brian added great commentary and gave great suggestions about where to eat/shop.
Thank you Brian and Railtours Ireland for showing us the beauty of Ireland.

I would definitely recommend this tour. We had a family of 13 and they were very accommodating. The tour guide is witty and very knowledgeable of the history of Ireland. Paddy was very helpful and kind of last day. Of course the sights are amazing. The hotel accommodations were very nice. The international hotel in Killarney was great.

Each day the Railtours guides co-ordinate people on various itineraries into one group with apparent ease, keeping each person well informed about their individual schedules. They are very well organised, extremely responsive to needs, patient, informative and entertaining. I am in awe of their skils.
Equally, the bus drivers negotiate narrow, winding country roads and crowded town streets expertly - and with amazing courtesy to other drivers.
The sights in southern and western Ireland are stunnning and this tour provides a very practical and comfortable way to see the area, staying in the same Killarney accommodation for 3 nights.
I would especially like to thank Peter and Andy (guides) and Kevin, Tim, Bart and Michael (drivers) for the thoughtful care they provided for my sister who needed wheelchair assistance throughout the tour.

Superb organization, first class accommodations, knowledgeable guides who were friendly and helpful.
This was our first organized tour and it exceeded our expectations. The logistics were well organized but it was the people that made the experience special. Knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful guides made the tour memorable.

We couldn’t have been more pleased with our tour choice and especially the tour guides. John Todd and Andrew Roach (the Cork Roach) were super friendly, answered all our questions and guided us through an amazingly beautiful country. We were always in good hands even when they passed us off to the Deros Coach Tours in Killarney. Another excellent tour company with wonderful guides. I would (and already have) highly recommend Railtours Ireland for an outstanding experience all the way!

Overall this was a great tour. The guides (especially John Todd and Batt Sullivan, plus Michael from Lally tours) were really good. Their knowledge was top notch and delivered with humour and professionalism. The driving of the coaches was impressive too.
Covered a lot of ground which sometimes was a bit tiring and a little rushed but was expected and didn’t really have a negative impact on the experience. Hotels were more than adequate and were very comfortable and accommodating.
Would recommend this tour to anyone who has limited time but wants a memorable Irish experience and too see some of the more iconic and beautiful places in the southern part of the country. Good value for the money.

We had a wonderful experience on the "The Great Southern & Western Coast" Tour out of Dublin starting Easter Monday. Rail travel was pleasant and scenic, the excursions were interesting and varied.
The tour guides were personable, knowledgeable, and entertaining. We especially appreciated Bob Beatty for his historical knowledge and anecdotes - as well as his good communication and coordination starting our tour out of Dublin. Also, Maurice with Deros tours out of Killarney as both a driver on "Ring of Kerry" and guide and driver to the Dingle Peninsula. Such a warm and engaging personality with a deep knowledge of the region and history. And Brian was a friendly and attentive host returning from Galway to Dublin on rail.
Also, our accommodations at the International Hotel in Killarney exceeded our expectations; including the staff and the breakfast. We were given a room in the newer wing and were very pleased.
Irish Railtours is a highly recommended way to explore and enjoy the friendly people and beautiful countryside of Ireland!

Our trip to Ireland was a bucket list destination and Rail Tours provided an excellent itinerary and well organized travel that ensured we had the time of our lives. I can't say enough good things about this tour. Our guide Jonathan B. was awesome! He was attentive, welcoming, and FULL of historical information that kept us entertained and intrigued the entire time. I'd recommend this company and this tour in particular. The accommodations were wonderful - with the exception of the Killarney International - and it's more a complaint about being able to hear neighbors quite well - not really the hotels fault, but made for a restless night's sleep. I will say the breakfast and staff at this hotel was phenomenal. Oh, if you're gluten free - I had zero issues. Each lunch stop, and hotel breakfast had plentiful and delicious options. Seriously, when it was time to leave the tour it felt like saying goodbye to family. I'd do another tour in a heart beat.
