Having booked with Staffa tours previously to go to Staffa, we decided this year to go for the Staffa and Treshnish tour. A decision that we were thrilled to have made.

The experience was more than we could ever have hoped for. The Captain and crew were exceptionally friendly and helpful and the boat was superb - clean and with really sensible COVID plans in place.

The sailing was amazing and landing in Lunga was out of this world. Too many thousands of Puffins and sea birds to possibly count, most only about 1m from you. Two hours on this special island was amazing but flew by.

On the way back the Captain took a detour to see a huge seal colony which was superb, but beaten only by the detour he took on the way to Staffa following a report of dolphins. He kindly took us off course and slowed the boat down so we could watch the dolphins jump out of the water, swim past and under the boat. This occurred again on the way back to Iona when he slowed to allow a 2nd pod of dolphins to put on a similar display for us.

A truly magical experience with an amazing company. I cannot recommend Staffa Tours enough and can’t begin to explain how much value for money this 6 hour trip was. I would have honestly paid twice the amount each for what we saw.

This is an absolute must do trip for anyone visiting Mull or Iona during the seabird season.

Staffa and Fingal's Cave

We chose to drive to Fionnphort for the shorter 3 hour boat trip rather than the 6 hour trip from Tobermory. The crew of 2 were very friendly and gave a brief commentary on what we could see on the Isle of Iona before motoring off to Staff a

The boat was comfortably full. There was enough outdoor space for everyone but undercover space was limited...fortunately it was a beautiful day. Do take an extra windproof layer though.

On arrival we viewed Fingal's Cave from the water and were then landed onto a jetty with instructions on how to to walk to the cave and the puffin colony (seasonal visitors) with 1 hour to explore. This was just enough. The cave was majestic and walking along the basalt columns was unique and photogenic. The puffins even more so .. adorable, especially as they come into land!

An efficient return trip with the option of being dropped back to Iona or returning to Mull.

We took the tour in weather that wasn't great but the Staffa Tour guys made sure we saw as much as possible. We boarded in Tobermory and social distancing was observed, masks needed indoors but not out on deck, it felt very safe. We detoured to see some Minke whales which had been sited in the area and then went to see loads of seals, all of the boats are in close contact with each other and give tip offs as to where the wildlife can be seen. We had plenty of time to explore Staffa which meant we could walk to the highest point of the Island leaving Fingal's Cave until last, again we did not feel rushed and saw everything that we wanted to. The cave is amazing and photos do not do it justice. The tour boat staff were knowledgeable about the wildlife , weather conditions and provided a safe and enjoyable experience, we would recommend this trip.

From booking on the website through to boarding the boat was straightforward and faultless, and the boat itself was spotless and actually had nice comfortable cushioned seats which made the journey comfortable. We boarded at Mull for the Staffa tour, and made a brief stop at Ardnamurchan across the bay before heading out around the Northern shore of Mull and down the West coast, passing the Treshnish Isles before landing on Staffa.

The weather became quite wet and choppy and the twin hulled modern boat was stable as it cut through the waves, not rolling from side to side. We stayed outside and got quite wet, but it was exhilarating. The weather cleared for us to land at Staffa, which was itself quite interesting, a precision manoeuvre requiring excellent seamanship. As everybody headed straight for Fingals cave, we headed the other direction and took our packed lunch on the cliff top, in a lovely peaceful spot. Then after 30 minutes headed down to an empty cave which we had to ourselves!

On the way back we saw many many seals and pups as we loitered through the Treshnish Isles. Binoculars on this trip are highly recommended as we could see people without them not being sure of what they were looking at, but with them the detail was amazing!

Above all though we were really impressed with the professionalism and engagement of the two crew, who really went out of their way to make sure everyone enjoyed their trip, and whose love and respect for the wildlife was evident. And excellent seamanship too!

Loved every second and would happily take another trip with Staffa on our next visit

Did the Treshnish isles and Staffa tour. They were only operating a limited service from Fionnphort on Tuesday to Thursday at this time of writing in June, but we chose the best day weather wise. About 50 minutes to Lunga from Fionnphort and an absolutely magical close up experience with the puffins. The crew on the boat took great care to make sure we were safe and went out of their way to enable a passenger with an injured ankle to get back on the boat as easily as possible. Take care while hiking round to the guillemots, you really have to concentrate!!! On to Staffa which is SO impressive. One of the best wildlife and scenic experiences ever! Absolutely amazing!!

I did the 3 Isle tour just for the sake of Fingal's Cave. The tour was amazing, Fingal's cave out of this world esp with the excellent bright weather. I would like to make few points about the tour. The tour started from Oban, where I had to board a ferry to reach Isle of Mull. There was no meet or greet or anything at Oban, I was just given ferry tickets to go to Mull. From Isle of Mull there was a 1 hour bus ride through Mull, which was amazing the scenes were amazing. This took us to Fionphort from where another ferry took us to Staffa,, where we were given an hour. Uptil here all was good although I was a bit disappointed at not having a proper guide. From here we were taken to Isle of Iona which was a the greatest disappointment; everything was closed and we were given 2 hours to spend! I mean what shall we do for 2 hour when there isn't even a cafe to eat or drink. We were about 4 people and we did ask the Staffa tour that we take an early ferry and the bus takes us earlier but they just refused and said the bus will come at its time. This was quite bad on their part. We ended up going back to Isle of Mull after an hour and spending time there, although not much to do there as well. The bus was standing there and we did ask them to take us earlier but they just refused again. I mean we paid money and if all of us wanted to go back early when the bus was there, I don't know what their problem was! I wouldn't recommend the 3 isle tour, it was just stretched to make it 10 hours, a waste of time in my opinion. I would rather just do Isle of Staffa to see the Fingal's cave and puffins. Iona is a definite miss!

We opted for the £65 trip to Staffa (+ Fingals cave) that also included a 2 hour landing on the Treshnish Isles. Good boat with both inside and outside seating.
We sailed out for Tobermory harbour and up the sound of Mull. The sail to Staffa took about 90 mins, and the boat leisurely motored around the mouth of Fingals cave - giving good photo opportunities. We then had an hour on Staffa to explore by foot. The sail and landing on the Treshnish Isles was a bit of a added bonus for us (we hadn't originally planned this) but the up close and personal experience of the puffins was a memory that will stay with us. Another added bonus was the sighting of a sea eagle on the way back. It even landed on a large rock on the shore, and with some expert boat skills from the boat captain manoeuvred us for some close up photo's.
A special mention and BIG THANK YOU for the crew, who were both informative and very helpful. Unfortunately they are not in control of the weather - but will do everything they can to make the experience a memorable one. Highly recommended if you are holidaying in mull.

My husband and I booked the Staffa trip £25 departing from Fionnphort. Nice polite team onboard who definitely wanted you to have the best experience over to Staffa, pointing out local sea life then going out of the way to give us a chance to see Dolphins which was truely amazing. Staffa and fingals cave were so beautiful and really a must do trip when visiting Mull. Boat stops off on Iona on the way back, highly recommend departing here and getting the ferry back. I will definitely be booking again on our next visit to Mull.

We booked online for a 4 hour round trip to Staffa from Tobermory, and just a couple of days in advance. The booking process was straightforward and thereafter the trip itself was exceptional, helped no doubt by almost perfect weather conditions. The boat is relatively small, but modern and fast, and there’s plenty of space and seating on the upper deck – just be sure to be well wrapped up! The crew were welcoming and friendly, and did everything they could to allow is to see plenty of wildlife – an eagle was fairly distant, but we did come across a school of dolphins and saw plenty of seals. The main attraction, Staffa, did not disappoint – it’s very dramatic seen from the sea, both from a distance and close up, and there’s plenty of time to take in the views and grab some good photos. Needless to say, the sounds of Mendelsohn’s “Fingal’s Cave” played over the loudspeaker adds an evocative touch. It’s safe and easy to explore the inside of the cave, and it was great to be able to sit just outside the entrance with a picnic lunch and take in the beauty and romance of the location. A highly recommended day out if you’re staying on Mull.

My husband and I went on the Staffa Tours £30 per person trip to Staff to see Fingals Cave and the puffins. Luckily I was able to check the weather, as I am not good on boats, to make sure it was going to be good weather wise. They took the boat on a short detour to see seals, and then headed full speed to Staffa. We found the commentary to be just right and at the right level, with the right amount of information that we needed. When we landed on Staffa, we decided to walk straight away to see the puffins - well, magical, literally loads of puffins, wandering around at our feet, taking off, landing, in and out of their burrows, it was amazing. So good we decided to spend the whole hour and bit on Staffa watching the puffins. We we were given plenty of time for photo shoots of the cave opening, and then on the way back we stayed on Iona for a look around and got the normal ferry back. All in all and wonderful trip and well worth the money. The staff were courteous and informative without being 'in your face'.
