- Edwin B0 contributionsGreat day, Hard but rewarding. Brilliant guideOur guide Cameron was very informative and encouraging, especially when it got hard going . Kept us going and was full of interesting facts about the mountain and the Monroe's in general. Tough but enjoyable day with like minded hikers.Written August 27, 2024
- Daniel M0 contributionsGreat day on Aonach Eagach ridgeI booked with Scott for the Aonach Eagach. From the point of booking the communication was excellent. Throughout the day, Scott’s focus was ensuring safety. In addition, because the weather wasn’t looking good on my booking day and because I had flexibility, Scott also was able to be flexible and switch the day quite late. A great day and I’d highly recommendWritten August 6, 2024

Had an amazing day with great scrambling, fantastic views and just a joy being out there in a beautiful environment. I would recommend Elite Guides for any future trips.Written July 31, 2024
- SimonChilli0 contributionsBeginner’s rock climbingWe had a great time on Polldubh Crags. James was excellent. Really good session. We all had a great time. James was really good with the kids (10 and 8). Lots of really interesting chat about the local area, geology and rock climbing. Highly recommended.Written July 28, 2024

- K6571MNjonr0 contributionsIn Pinn guided ascentI booked Elite for a guided ascent of the In Pinn and Sgurr Mhic Coinnich in the Cuillin, for me and my son. It was a great day and our guide, Nate Jones, was superb. He immediately put us at ease and continued to pick the best routes and keep us safe throughout the day. Besides being a top professional he was also very good company. This is a serious mountain climb and expertise is definitely needed. Fully recommend and I will book again for the remaining tricky Cuillin peaks.Written July 27, 2024

- H9562RZgillianr0 contributionsAonach Eagach Ridge WalkA long and tiring day but boy was it awesome. First hike involving ropes and we’re so glad we chose Elite Guides. Our guide Jack was super. He was patient and professional but he also brought good fun and laughs to what was seriously tough day. Two females and we felt we were in safe hands at all times. Thanks for making it one we will remember 😊Written July 7, 2024
- U6351UYerick0 contributionsTwo awesome climbs with a very great and professional guideThe trip was planned about 2 months ago. Living in Germany I usually know the Alps, Sportclimbing and easier mountaineering. The planned was to do some scrambling 3 with parts of Rock-climbing. I didn't had any concrete idea. Scott helped me with great ideas and options what to do and what helps me to get more experience and confidence...while having fun and great climbs. He gave me an amazing welcome in real Scottish mountaineering. He was very helpful, calm and patient. In his guiding I never felt really overwhelmed. Definitely I'll come back and enjoy his service again. One of the best guides / instructors I know.Written July 4, 2024
- kevincX9206UI0 contributionsExcellent all round service.Excellent service, Scott was very responsive to email and WhatsApp enquiries. Angus was a great tour guide, pleasant, helpful, knowledgeable and professional. Angus even went so far as to have extra hats and gloves if members of the group required. Excellent service overall 👍👍👍👍Written July 4, 2024
- nicolapZ333MC0 contributionsBen Nevis climbWhat an experience, the guides Siobhan and Richard were amazing, encouraging supportive and i know at least 2 people who would not have summited without them. I only cried twice on the way down because i was stuck and once again Siobhan was incredible. Best day (hardest day) ever. Scott made the booking and lead up to it seamless giving all the advise to ensure we were kitted out accordingly. Elite guides really did make this an extra special day.Written July 4, 2024
- Sandsend3000 contributionsSkye Cuillin MunrosOver Four Days - had this trip booked for six months, wanted to try and complete them before one of those birthday's that end in 0. And I couldn't have picked a better guide, Scott is the consummate professional, nothing was a bother, even my slow pace up scree. He got me up the spicy west ridge of Sgurr nan Gillean (and back down), the Inaccessible Pinnacle was a doddle after that. We might not have had perfect weather, snow in June, but the sun did shine on us on the last one. Scott did assure me that there are views from the top of them all, but I made it and it was a thoroughly enjoyable adventure, I can't recommend it and Scott highly enough, Cheers Phil.Written July 2, 2024
- jeffcB1280KX0 contributionsSafe Fun on Aonach EagachWe did the Aonach Eagach traverse with Jack of Elite Guides. Jack was very professional and fun and we felt very safe on this challenging route. It was a great day!Written June 23, 2024
- Sporty280 contributionsLots of yapping, layer faffs and scoofs up Ben Nevis with Siobhan!Booked a very late Guided Tour with Elite Guides just the evening before I wanted to do it. This was after another company let me down with a late cancellation. Had a quick turnaround in response and booking process with Simon from Elite Guides. My guide was Siobhan and she was great. Really bubbly, engaging and very clear on her instructions and plan for the day. She constantly checked I'm with the group members along the way to gauge how we were all doing. Kept us informed of the planned break stops and was flexible with our little layer faff stops on an ad hoc basis. Can't thank her enough for a fun and enjoyable hike up and keeping us going on the way down which was tougher for me than the ascent. I'd recommend using them especially if a novice hiker or if the summit forecast isn't the best. Better to have an expert on hand than wing it.Written June 23, 2024
- johnkG7665II0 contributionsA great day on a high ridgeOur guide (Scott Kirkhope) took my friend and I, both in our 70s, across the Aonach Eagach ridge in Glencoe. It was a challenge but a wonderful experience. Scott was an excellent guide, very professional, with a detailed knowlege of the route. He was most encouraging and we felt safe in his hands. He had great patience...and he needed it at times !Written June 22, 2024

Scott was fabulous: fantastic on the mountain and really helpful and responsive in the (last minute) planning. Guided me safely on 2 exciting days of scrambling/climbing on 3 of the 5 ridges on Ben Nevis and another day of climbing with unbelievable weather adding beautiful views to the fun experience.
Happy to recommend Scott to any climber, more or less experienced: he is super professional, friendly and flexible.

We wanted to do a more challenging route up Ben Nevis but thought it wise to seek a professional for the scrambling and navigation. Scott took us up Ledge Route away from the crowds and walked us through each section-- pointing out tricky areas and giving us an idea of what to expect. Communication from Scott was excellent, we started our hike on time, and he was patient as we began to tire and need breaks. We felt like we were in good hands from start to finish and I'd highly recommend Scott to anyone wanting to enjoy a hike with the added safety of his advice and experience.

I’ve climbed the highest mountains in England, Wales and Ireland and chose to finish the set by climbing Ben Nevis with Kirkhope Mountaineering.
It was the best decision I could’ve made. From start to finish my guide made it a truly unforgettable experience and all this while in complete white out conditions and climbing through snow almost waist deep at points and he still managed to navigate us to the summit safely.
I really can’t express how amazing my guide was and how thankful I am for them making this one of the very best experiences of my life!!!

I highly recommend hiring a guide and taking an alternative route to the donkey path up Ben Nevis especially if it’s going to be your first climb. Dave from Kirkhope Mountaineering made the whole experience much more memorable by safely leading us up the ledge route where we got to scramble over rocks and were rewarded with remarkable views of Ben Nevis away from the crowds. Dave's knowledge of the mountain, its geology and flora made the climb so much more interesting and the Brocken spectre from the summit just made the day. We really could not have hoped for a more rewarding experience or a better guide.

We have enjoyed the hiking despite the gloomy weather (well this is Ben Nevis). Scott and his colleagues are very organised and considerate by reminding us the essential facilities for the hike. Waterproof clothes and energy bars are important.
Our guide has been very nice and supportive with people on different fitting skills. When a member of us fell off, our guide has been very helpful and even kindly helping carrying the bag for her.

As a group of 4 females we wanted to enjoy walking Ben Nevis without the stress if the weather turned bad! The weather turned out to be perfect but we don’t regret for one minute having booked a guide as Hannah was brilliant and made the experience for us. When we met up she talked us through the route and what to expect. She advised us on when to stop for breaks and just knowing our progress points really helped. It would have been easy to spend quite a bit of time at the summit but she reminded us we were only half way through our day and also gave us helpful advice about when to add and remove layers of clothing etc. She was easy to talk to and we really enjoyed her company. The booking process was very efficient with Scott- from initial enquiry right through to making our final arrangements for the day, he always responded really quickly. I would highly recommend booking with him.

Scott Kirkhope arranged for a guide to take me up the rock climb Centurion (HVS 5a) on Carn Dearg Buttress, Ben Nevis. I've been climbing for many years and don't need a guide in general, but I was in Fort William on holiday with my girlfriend, without a climbing partner. For my 40th birthday my girlfriend arranged this day of guided climbing for me. Scott was very helpful in suggesting the route (originally I had something else in mind, but Scott's suggestion was much better). The route we did isn't listed on his website, but he is very flexible in finding the right route for you. The guide Malcolm was also really nice and it felt more like climbing with a friend than with a guide. The route itself is an ultra classic and it lived up to its reputation, especially pitches 2 and 6. A fantastic day out!

We cannot recommend Kirkhope Mountaineering enough for our guided tour of Ben Nevis, truly exceptional. From the initial enquiry and through out the booking, the climb and after was professional, leaving us very confident.
Our guide Garry was very knowledgeable and a very proficient and professional climber. We could not have asked for more and highly recommend him to others.
An exhilarating experience.

Enjoyed a superb week with Scott scrambling and climbing the many classic routes Ben Nevis and Glencoe has to offer. Scott was excellent both as a teacher and guide. He has an excellent knowledge of the many local routes, is a natural teacher and makes others feel extremely safe in his company. I would highly recommend him to others looking for either coaching to get into or improve their climbing or guiding. This was our 1st outing with Scott and we have already booked another week with him in Skye for Spring 2021.

Scott organised a weekend for me and my son working with guide Andy who was brilliant. After a chat in the week leading up to the weekend Andy suggested 2 routes that proved to be absolutely spot on for the weather conditions (Curved Ridge on Sat, Tower Ridge on Sun). On the drive back down to sunny Manchester we were both buzzing after a very memorable experience. Would definitely recommend Scott/Kirkhope Mountaineering if you are looking for a guided weekend around Ben Nevis/Glen Coe
