- Europeaddict00Amazing Isle of Skye tour - awesome tour.I wanted to go to Isle of Skye 23 years ago when we first toured Scotland, how ever, the fog prevented us from getting onto the Island. And now 23 years later I signed up for this 2 day tour of Skye with Timberbush Tours. Marita was our driver and guide and I have to say she was absolutely fantastic. After the 2 days, our small group of about 9 believed that Marita knew everyone on the island and certainly how to navigate the small winding, hilly, difficult roads with the turnouts with precision. Isle of Skye is beautiful, haunting and one of the most scenic places in the world. It is very rural with surprises at each turn. The fairie pools did not disappoint, they are so beautiful. The scenery amazing, I don't know how to make it sound as spectacular as it is. The town of Portree is adorable. I really enjoyed this 2 day trip. Anything less than 2 days would not do justice to the island and frankly more time would have even been better. Congrats to Marita and Timberbush Tours for doing such an excellent job.
- Deborah H00Dubrobin CastleIt was a nice day. The tour guide was informative about some things. Otherwise he shared things of his own interests. The tour mainly focused on the Dunrobin Castle. He decided that we would have lunch there rather than stopping in Wick. The food was basic, not much selection and expensive. The pacing was good for stops along the way. At John O Groats we were told we had 20 minutes. It seemed that the goal was to take a picture of the sign, pee and have some ice cream. We asked if we could go to the stacks at the lighthouse. He reluctantly agreed to take us there. I would have liked to have more time to walk around there and enjoy the coast.
- Anahlin00Classic HighlandsAlex was our driver/guide, and provided all involved with a great day. He has a wonderful and patient personality that made the busy day seem light and unhurried. It almost goes without saying that the sights are amazing...iconic Urquhart Castle on Loch Ness, a nice boat ride on the loch, you name it...it was classic highlands, and not to be missed. We had such a good day, and would not hesitate to use Timberbush Tours again.
- Dinu I00Nice relaxing trip around Loch NessNice daytrip from Inverness around Loch Ness. We first drove to see some highland cows at a farm near Inverness, afterwards we went to Urquhart castle where we stayed one and a half hours. The castle is quite worth the visit. It costs extra, and I'd recommend pre-booking it, since it's quicker to get in and a bit cheaper than buying on site. Onwards to the south, got to walk a bit around the mouth of river Moriston and see some nice falls. At the southernmost end of Loch Ness, Fort Augustus, we stayed 2 and a half hours, 50 minutes of this was the cruise on the Loch. It was enough time to get a quick lunch of steak pie, do the cruise and do some shopping afterwards. The cruise was ok, not spectacular, we didn't get to see Nessie. You could walk a bit around Fort Augustus if you skip the lunch or the cruise. After that we went back north on the other side of the Loch. We stopped close to the top of a mountain, had some great picture opportunities since the weather was nice. We drove back down to Foyers, and most walked to see the Falls. That's 500 meters far and about 60 meters down, quite steep, but it had stairs and rails so most of the group was able to do the walk. The last stop was at the beach in Dores. We enjoyed all stops, the van was comfortable, the guide Liall told us quite a bit of trivia during the drive. He drove safely, was funny and informative.
- chrissymE8798ZV00Excellent Day Trip, Fantastic GuideWe took a tour with Timberbush in July '23 to John O'Groats and while we were initially hesitant to book a day tour we are SO glad we did. Our guide, Liall, was humble, witty, and kind; a true pleasure to talk with. He really made sure that everyone was comfortable and got what they wanted out of the day, including making extra stops even though it meant he worked a longer day. Liall being from the area we were touring was an added plus as he was able to share stories and additional information that may not have normally been shared. Despite this being Liall's first time leading this tour he did a phenomenal job! We would definitely book a Timberbush Tour again. The tour itself was well thought-out and stopped at both places of historical importance and natural beauty. The bus was comfortable for our group, and Liall drove it well. Thank you Liall, for making this trip to John O'Groats a highlight of our 2-week stay in Scotland!
- Edi N00The best day spent on HighlandsIt was amazing - the nature, the stories, the weather was perfect. I really do recommend this trip to everyone who does want to see the beauty of the nature around the Loch Ness.
- JC97S00Scenery made it worth itThis tour took us so far into the Highlands and to incredible spots with breathtaking views. We had plenty of stops and opportunities to take photos and were constantly in awe. For the destinations and views alone, I would definitely recommend this tour. Unfortunately, the two tour guides that spent the day with us made it hard for us to enjoy the time on the bus (which was obviously a lot). Jack was our driver and he was joined by another guide, Chris, who took notes and was there to see the route, I think. Jack was friendly, upbeat and knowledgeable, and I'm sure would've been completely fine by himself, but the two of them together were super obnoxious. Oftentimes, we felt as though they were taking a private trip together and us guests just happened to be on the same bus because they spent so much time chatting about private things and really being incredibly loud with zero self-awareness. Being subjected to this for hours and hours really wore us down. We took another tour with a different company that lasted 12 hours and that didn't feel nearly as long because we were able to enjoy ourselves the entire day.
- Climber4815418432600Perfect Day TourSuch an amazing day! Our tour guide Liall was a class act and so knowledgeable. He definitely made our trip so much fun. The stops on this tour are great, and you even have time to do some shopping (if the stores are open😀)
- logdmi00Best introduction to ScotlandWith Timberbush Tours we made a 2-days tour to Highlands, starting from Edinburgh with overnight stay in Fort Williams. You must do this tour to get the feeling of Scotland! Lowlands, Highlands, castles, lakes and outstanding history of Scots will leave a print in your heart. I strongly recommend to catch a tour with Badger as a guide - this mate will create an atmosphere from the very first minute of the tour. He drives you through the country artistically weaving pieces of the history, legends, remarkable heroes and dramas of Scotland accompanying this with his mom’s approved playlist. The tour is well organized in terms of timeliness. Legs between stops from 30 to 90 minutes, stops 30-60 minutes - just enough to not get tired of the bus. Night in Fort Williams is fine to had a walk around and dinning in any of local restaurants.
- Jill B00Amazing 8-day Private Tour of ScotlandOur travel group of 5 semi-retired couples just finished an 8-day private tour with Timberbush that took us from St. Andrews, though Stonehaven, Inverness, Skye, Sterling and finally landing back in Edinburgh. We could not have been happier with our experience! Our guide for all but one day was Iain and he was absolutely the best! Although we had a pretty full itinerary planned for each day of our journey, Iain went above and beyond to review the itinerary with us the day before, making suggestions and even several quick additional stops along the way based on his familiarity of the Highlands. We quickly learned that if Iain said that there was a "wee pile of rocks" that we might find interesting in the area, or a "wee bridge" or a "wee church", we should prepare ourselves for something really special. And we often found that we were the only ones at these out of the way treasures, which made the experience even more special. I am not exaggerating to say Iain was the main reason our trip was a amazing as it was. We can't thank him enough!!!!
- Z7794RItraceyn00Amazing experience! We had a nine day tour with Tom; he was fantastic and we feel like we’re leaving part our family here. We all clicked right away with him. Tom’s passion/love for his country is obvious and amazing!! He made our experience here in Scotland incredible and unforgettable. He loves what he’s doing and you can feel it. We laughed a lot and shared a lot. If you’re going to book a tour, Timberbush is the company to book!!
- Q5472OYmaryp00PERFECT!!It was breathtaking, incredible, heavenly and unforgettable and not to mention our fabulous tour guide Tom. He was the perfect amazing and way too entertaining!!! if we ever come back, we will make sure yes to ask for him! We totally fell in love with this Guy!!!!!
- ShyamalD00Great experience of far-north of Scotland with Mr MalcolmGreat tour to the far-north of Scotland. Would highly recommed based on the experience. Our guide, Mr Malcolm was amazing, and made the extra effort to ensure we carried back good memories. Not only did he gve a running commentary on the places in the itinerary, he also shared a lot about Scottish history and culture. Thank you Malcolm. The highlights of the tour was the Dunrobin castle, where the guide also encouraged us to also have a glimpse of the falcon show. We did spot a few seals. On the way back, an un-scheduled visit to see a "broch" was also worth it.
- vorgar00Magical Highland TourMalcolm was an amazing guide, he explained the history at every stop and pointed out small details to make sure we got the full experience. He played lovely Highland music which only enhanced our tour! He even stopped at some off the itinerary locations on the way just to make our tour more special. The train was right where he pointed out and came exactly when he said it would. He made sure we left on time to catch up and see it up close as well. Every stop was the perfect amount of time to really explore and take photos and even shop a little. The intimate group experience was also lovely and we made friends with everyone in our little group! An excellent tour!! 12 hours didn’t feel like enough!
- katemA4331PH00Absolutely fantastic tour. This was such a fabulous and informative tour. Alex was the most helpful guide I have ever met and made the day so enjoyable. Every stop was fantastic and the tour was a brilliant way to explore Loch Ness and the Highlands. The group was small and the bus was spotless clean and comfortable. This is a must do tour if you are visiting Inverness.

It was cold, it was due to rain, it was early on the 29th December but we all headed off with Ray, our guide, for a trip round all the pretty points between Inverness and Skye. The Highlands are such a beautiful place that the weather really doesn't matter. The super frosty start meant Urquhart Castle and Loch Ness were shown at their Wintry best and the trip to Skye was a never ending sequence of oohs and aahs at the spectacular scenery. Eilean Donan Castle (tourist Mecca), although shut and shrouded in drizzle was, as ever, stunning and Skye gave us misty mystery all day.
Ray, our guide, was brilliant, regaling us with stories, history, every cliche bit of Scottish music and some very good not-so-cliche too. He kept us all masked and Covid safe, all awake, all laughing and all interested with his passion for the country and culture shining through. It was a long day for us but even longer for him in sometimes treacherous driving conditions but his energy never waned so well done that man. There were plenty of pee stops, even more photo stops and the keen eyed among us even saw a wildcat in deepest darkest somewhere on the way.
The only down side was Portree where we were left to fend for ourselves for lunch. It was absolutely tipping down and so many places were either full or closed. Perhaps an arranged lunch booking may be better. Oh, and on the trip home the bus got uncomfortably hot and stuffy, with condensation drips landing regularly from the skylight above my head.
All in all a fantastic day with a great guide and some of the best scenery anywhere in the world. Thank you.

I’ll start with the positive... we had a great day on the Isle of Skye. Our guide Ryan had a lot of great stories to tell and seemed very knowledgeable of Scottish history. The sights were beautiful and Ryan took us to so many amazing places and views. The amount of gorgeous pictures we got from this day was unreal. We appreciated that Ryan took us up to Quiraing viewpoint for extra photos since the castle was closed for the season.
The negatives... we went on multiple other tours during our vacation and were given warning ahead of time that places along the way were going to be closed. It would have been nice to get a heads up from the company that the castle was going to be closed.
Now, as I said, Ryan was extremely knowledgeable and provided great information on Scottish history, but it felt like he was trying to prove something with his driving. It seemed like he drove unreasonably fast and wild the entire trip. We rode with multiple different tour drivers during our vacation and definitely noticed how driving was different in Scotland versus home, but Ryan’s driving seemed extreme. This trip was essentially 11 hours of amazing views between moments of feeling like we were going to die in a fiery crash down the side of a hill in Skye. Even at the end of the tour when Ryan mentioned leaving a review, he “jokingly” said not to mention his driving, he just knows the proper way to drive. Although Scottish drivers are slightly more aggressive that what I’m used to at home, I can guarantee from all the other rides we took on our trip that driving at a ridiculous speed around one lane blind corners on backroads while hitting bumps that fling me out of my seat and make my husband hit his head on the ceiling above him, is not “proper driving”.
Overall, the trip wasn’t terrible but we aren’t likely to book a tour with Timberbush the next time we’re in Scotland.

Dear alisongeisler,
Many thanks for your feedback and I am sorry your tour was not up to your expectations.
The safety of all customers is always our top priority, and I am taking your feedback regarding your driver guide's driving very seriously. I have forwarded your comments to our Operation Manager for review and I would like to sincerely apologise for the inconvenience caused. Feeling unsafe during a tour that should be all about relaxing and enjoying yourself is against what Timberbush Tours is all about and I can assure you that we will do our best to make sure it does not happen again.
On a more positive note, I was delighted to hear that your enjoyed Ryan's guiding style with his expert knowledge and commentary on Scottish history!
I would like to apologise again for the way that you felt during your tour and I hope that despite your disappointment you still enjoyed your trip to Scotland,
Best Wishes,

Ryan was a great guide, very knowledgable and clearly extremely passionate about Scotland! The bus left promptly at 8am and we saw most of what the lovely isle has to offer. My only criticism would be that the day is extremely long and it probably could've been cut down by an hour or so rather than killing time along the way. Would've been nice for some downtime on the bus to take in the scenery rather than ongoing commentary but would recommend as great value!

Omg this tour was spectacular and it was All thanks to our wonderful tour guide Tonks. She made the experience amazing. Some how even in the January weather she managed to perfectly time her stops with the snow and rain and the sky was clear for every time we stepped out. She was an experienced tour guide and coach driver and would happily book with Timberbush tours again.

I went on this tour today. It was really beautiful. Drizzled a little here and there so a wee bit foggy, but that didn't dim the beauty of the natural landscapes. Our driver Ryan was excellent, informative and made pit stops very frequently for beautiful scenic quick photoshoots. He made the drive comfortable and fun. One of my personal favourite locations and included in the tour is Kilt Rock. The waterfall there is magnificent. I loved the coloured buildings of Portree too and the fish and chips by the harbour! (Apparently the best!)

A very highly recommended tour if you are in The Highlands or around Scotland. My sister and I were on tour on the 2nd December, with a fabulous weather, touring for the day around the Isle of Skye. Our guide, Ray was excellent. He entertained the group with a lot of stories and with a fantastic Scottish music selection (it is a pity, I can’t find you in Spotify though). He was very lay back however he was very fair and firm re: the use of face mask indoors. He did make our trip very safe, with alcohol gel inside the mini-van to use and good ventilation when travelling.
It is important to support small business and even more in C-19 times. So for everyone around the world, this is the 5* company to use if you are in Scotland. High quality, safe and thinking about the customer and their needs. Thanks Ray and hopefully, I will be able to find the marvellous music.

We had Tonks as our tour guide, and she absolutely made the day. She wasn’t just a tour guide, she was a DJ/storyteller/driver/comedian extraordinaire!
The tour itself felt very complete; there was sightseeing, photo opportunities, stories, good food, and surprise hot chocolate. Overall we loved the tour and look forward to coming back to see Tonks again.

Ray our tourguide greeted us at the Inverness Bus Station early at 7:45. He was very hospitable and was filled with great humor that enlivened our bus trip experience especially since we had gone across the country all day. His storytelling was wonderful! It made me very interested (as if I wasn’t already) about the people of Scotland. Vast and complex, humble and proud, as well as dark and tragic are some adjectives that I might use to describe what he told us of the history. He unabashedly told us the unfiltered history of Scotland that some other tour guides may perhaps shy away from, this we appreciated. He tied in a number of Hollywood movies that helped us relate to the beautiful landscape, sprinkled in his wonderful playlist to truly enhance our experience as we looked outside and imagined the legends, the Vikings, the monarchs and the Jacobite rebellions. It truly shows that Timberbush tours takes extra care in choosing the right tour guides because Ray was completely outstanding! We want to return again someday, perhaps climb a Monroe and experience more of the highlands. We cannot recommend this tour enough for anyone who wants to have an awesome time in Scotland.
Wishing you a very merry Christmas,
Andrew and Sam from Guam.

Luke “Skye-walker” was all you could want in a tour guide to the Isle of Skye. He’s a transplant from London but it is clear that he is so because he truly loves the land and this magical Isle. He made sure that our trip was immersive, including music, stories, history, and actually getting off the bus and experiencing. The music choices were on point, he dressed the part, needs to work on the Scottish accent a bit, lol, but all kidding aside it was a truly enjoyable day. It’s a long day because of the distance between Inverness and Isle of Skye but he made it fly by with quirky quizzes and trivia about Scottish and Skye history, random facts that were fun to learn and overall seems to be obsessed with quality and experience for his clients. Our weather was perfect which helped but even if not, Luke seems to see the rainbow in every situation. And then actual rainbows. And goats. And little lambs. I would whole heartedly recommend, if not insist on requesting him specifically to any of my clients or friends and family who were coming to the area. Isle of Skye is easy to love but Luke is diligent on making it a whole sensory experience, having us pose for pics that will last a lifetime and having the perfect song, joke, story, or added personal touch at just the right time. A thoroughly enjoyable experience! Oh, and of course, don’t forget about the Hairy Coos! That stop alone with his carrots in tow was worth it. Overall, you can’t beat the price, experience, or guide for your day(s) at Isle of Skye. As an accessible travel planner, I look forward to partnering with Luke and the tour company in the future on a variety of different trips with clients of all ages and abilities!

We booked this tour via getyourguide about 24 h before.
Our guide was Luke, who did a great job at making us acquainted with the Scottish nature, it’s people and it‘s history… he was a wonderful entertainer with an awesome taste of music (which he played in between his little speeches and informative stories)….
It seemed as if he genuinely enjoyed being with us.
The time management was good as we had enough time at each stop without feeling rushed.
We were a small group of twelve people in a modern minibus (16 seats).
At first we were a bit hesitant because of the price, but it was worth every penny!
Our guide was Luke, who did a great job at making us acquainted with the Scottish nature, it’s people and it‘s history… he was a wonderful entertainer with an awesome taste of music (which he played in between his little speeches and informative stories)….

Hi there, thank you for our review!
We like to think we offer great value for money, so it's great to hear that you felt the tour was worth every penny. I'm really pleased that a 24 hour before booking turned into such a great experience for you and that you really enjoyed having Luke as your driver-guide for all the reasons you've mentioned! Hopefully we will see you on another tour some day.
All the best,
David

Can we purchase tickets for Eileen Donan Castle on the spot (day of tour), or should I buy them online beforehand?

We bought the ticket at the arrival. There are different kind of tickets, depending on the time you have.
You can buy the ticket for visiting the Castle inside (I cannot Remember the price, maybe 6 or 9£) or only the ticket to go around the Castle and take pictures (3£).
Hi! Is it possible to join the Isle of Skye Explorer Tour later in Portree? Thank you very much in advance :)

Hello, I‘m staying at Kyle of Lochalsh tonight and was wondering if there‘d be a possibility to join your tour tomorrow? I‘d love to pay the full price if you‘d pick me up in Kyle and do the rest of the tour with you from there on. At the evening I‘ll have a room in Inverness. Thank you so much for getting back to me kindest regards

Do you stop and see highland cattle on this tour?

They have right of way and vehicles have to stop for both them and the sheep. The sheep have paint on them which tells them what croft they belong to. I have not seen a farmer but have seen sheep being herded down the road by dogs
I noticed you have an 85min stop at Eilean Donan Castle. The castle is closed in winter. What takes the place of this timeslot?
