Wow, just wow! Ray was an outstanding tour guide who took us on a wonderful trip from Inverness and all around Skye. He was knowledgeable, funny and kept everyone entertained despite the weather.

It was quite cold, windy and rainy but this only created a more dramatic backdrop to the stunning highland countryside - “ever changing but constantly beautiful.” said Ray. The minibus was cosy and warm throughout the trip but do wear waterproofs and walking shoes if you are going in the winter for when exploring the various stops.

The course of the tour is made up of a series of stops over 12 hours. The stops were a chance for us to stretch our legs and take in breathtaking scenery. Ray’s stories, facts and tips gave each location context and allowed us to make the best of them.

I would highly recommend this tour for anyone looking for something more intimate and personal as the group size is small. That, and anyone who loves history and storytelling!

Hello, It's lovely to hear that you such a good time on our Isle of Skye & Eilean Donan Castle tour with our driver-guide Ray. The Scottish weather can be inconsistent, but we agree with Ray that it's "ever changing but constantly beautiful". I'll pass this feedback on to Ray as I'm sure he'll love to read it. We hope to welcome you back on tour with us soon.

It was cold, it was due to rain, it was early on the 29th December but we all headed off with Ray, our guide, for a trip round all the pretty points between Inverness and Skye. The Highlands are such a beautiful place that the weather really doesn't matter. The super frosty start meant Urquhart Castle and Loch Ness were shown at their Wintry best and the trip to Skye was a never ending sequence of oohs and aahs at the spectacular scenery. Eilean Donan Castle (tourist Mecca), although shut and shrouded in drizzle was, as ever, stunning and Skye gave us misty mystery all day.

Ray, our guide, was brilliant, regaling us with stories, history, every cliche bit of Scottish music and some very good not-so-cliche too. He kept us all masked and Covid safe, all awake, all laughing and all interested with his passion for the country and culture shining through. It was a long day for us but even longer for him in sometimes treacherous driving conditions but his energy never waned so well done that man. There were plenty of pee stops, even more photo stops and the keen eyed among us even saw a wildcat in deepest darkest somewhere on the way.

The only down side was Portree where we were left to fend for ourselves for lunch. It was absolutely tipping down and so many places were either full or closed. Perhaps an arranged lunch booking may be better. Oh, and on the trip home the bus got uncomfortably hot and stuffy, with condensation drips landing regularly from the skylight above my head.

All in all a fantastic day with a great guide and some of the best scenery anywhere in the world. Thank you.

I've passed your comments about the lunch stop on to management for future tours. We're so glad you had a goo time and we hope to see you on tour with us again very soon.

This minibus trip was the best touristy thing I have done in Scotland. Our guide was Ray, who was excellent. He is a friendly, extremely knowledgeable guide who was also a skilled and safe driver. ( I normally do not like being driven but this was fine). We had lots of breaks and opportunities to be outside the coach too. We saw some truly breathtaking sites on the journey. I had been on Skye about 20 years ago and as the driver at the time, did not realise how much we had missed out on until this trip. The trip took the full 12 hours as advertised and there was never a boring minute, although we were tired by the time we got back to our hotel. Ray gave us interesting historical, geological and contextual information to bring our experience even more to life. He chose atmospheric music carefully to make the experience even better. The day of the trip was a little misty and occasional showery rain, but this did not detract from the experience and if anything made it pretty ethereal at times. You can take a picnic if you prefer, but there was also ample opportunity to buy refreshments along the way. If I go back to Inverness I would for sure do this again or buy a seat on one of the other Timberbush tours. I really feel it was good value for money to get such an incredible experience and access to such breathtaking scenery. It was relaxing and inspiring.

A very highly recommended tour if you are in The Highlands or around Scotland. My sister and I were on tour on the 2nd December, with a fabulous weather, touring for the day around the Isle of Skye. Our guide, Ray was excellent. He entertained the group with a lot of stories and with a fantastic Scottish music selection (it is a pity, I can’t find you in Spotify though). He was very lay back however he was very fair and firm re: the use of face mask indoors. He did make our trip very safe, with alcohol gel inside the mini-van to use and good ventilation when travelling.
It is important to support small business and even more in C-19 times. So for everyone around the world, this is the 5* company to use if you are in Scotland. High quality, safe and thinking about the customer and their needs. Thanks Ray and hopefully, I will be able to find the marvellous music.

Ray our tourguide greeted us at the Inverness Bus Station early at 7:45. He was very hospitable and was filled with great humor that enlivened our bus trip experience especially since we had gone across the country all day. His storytelling was wonderful! It made me very interested (as if I wasn’t already) about the people of Scotland. Vast and complex, humble and proud, as well as dark and tragic are some adjectives that I might use to describe what he told us of the history. He unabashedly told us the unfiltered history of Scotland that some other tour guides may perhaps shy away from, this we appreciated. He tied in a number of Hollywood movies that helped us relate to the beautiful landscape, sprinkled in his wonderful playlist to truly enhance our experience as we looked outside and imagined the legends, the Vikings, the monarchs and the Jacobite rebellions. It truly shows that Timberbush tours takes extra care in choosing the right tour guides because Ray was completely outstanding! We want to return again someday, perhaps climb a Monroe and experience more of the highlands. We cannot recommend this tour enough for anyone who wants to have an awesome time in Scotland.

Wishing you a very merry Christmas,

Andrew and Sam from Guam.

What made this tour absolutely worth every penny were the amazing tour guide (Marita), comfortable tour bus and the fact that you don't have to drive and you sit back, relax and enjoy the breathtaking scenery while listening to all the amazing facts and stories that Marita has up her sleeve about each and every place you pace through.
You cannot enjoy the route this trip takes if you are driving yourself and you need a tour guide like Marita to take you to places that you would not go to yourself because you would have no idea those places exist!
Marita made this trip extremely enjoyable and memorable. Her going the extra mile and stopping at places that are not on the usual route made it worth every penny! Nothing was too much to ask of her. She is extremely knowledgeable about all the places and answers any questions you have about the places you visit. She gives you enough time to go and take pictures and enjoy the scenes while you are at it. Nothing seemed to have been rushed and she made everyone feel at ease.
I would highly recommend this tour to anyone wishing to visit isle of skye, especially if you are planning on going there for a single day. You won't miss out on anything with this tour.
Thank you Marita and Timberbush for organising such an amazing tour.

This is an amazing tour, our tour guide Ray was amazing, a real storyteller and very informative on the history of Scotland. A great guy and Scottish Viking. It was a roller coaster ride of emotions as he retold stories from the past mixed with the music selection and the beauty and mystery of the highland views. There were a few moments that the hairs on my body were standing on end. The Isle of Sky was like driving through a movie set it was so beautiful. The weather wasn't great on our tour as it was November but I dont think it matters, the Isle of Sky's beauty shines through in any weather. I actually think it was more dramatic with all the myst and low clouds and the autumn colours.

This tour is a must for any one visiting the Highlands.

We really enjoyed this tour with our driver/guide Ryan. He obviously loves the area and has a great deal of local knowledge and historical facts.. We chose not to do the inside tour of Eilean Donan Castle so can't comment on that. There are plenty of stops for photo opportunities, and Ryan explained all about each place. Unfortunately it rained heavily towards the end of the tour but this only added to the drama of the landscape. We had 75 minutes for lunch in Portree but could have done with a little longer because by the time we had been served and eaten in the restaurant there wasn't much time to see much else of the town/harbour. That's my only slight criticism.

All in all it was a great day and Ryan was a great guide.

One last thing is that it's a long day and we couldn't find anywhere to eat when we got back at 8pm. sSo my advice it to make sure you book a table somewhere beforehand.

The coach for a 12 hour trip was way too small, extremely cramped and uncomfortable.
Would have preferred less stops and more time at the castle and Portree.
Would recommend to complete your own tour in your own vehicle.
Our driver was very friendly.

Dear Kate, I'm very sorry to hear you didn't enjoy your tour as much as you had hoped. I've taken a look and your tour did depart on a 19 seat mini-coach which wasn't fully booked. I'm sorry you found it to be uncomfortable; the seats are industry standard, but I have passed on your feedback to our operations team. Many customers take this tour to stop at various places throughout the route to Skye, I'm sorry you didn't appreciate these stops. I do hope that despite this, you enjoyed seeing more of the Highlands. Best wishes, Amy

Ryan was a great guide, very knowledgable and clearly extremely passionate about Scotland! The bus left promptly at 8am and we saw most of what the lovely isle has to offer. My only criticism would be that the day is extremely long and it probably could've been cut down by an hour or so rather than killing time along the way. Would've been nice for some downtime on the bus to take in the scenery rather than ongoing commentary but would recommend as great value!
