About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- 10219May0 contributionsEXCELLENT 3 day ORKNEY TOUR.Our driver was Colin and he stepped in for a sick coworker. As a first time tour guide for Orkney, Colin was informative, funny, courteous, personable and open to suggestions for new or alternate sites. He was a very cautious drive and concerned for our safety. We enjoyed our 3 day Orkney trip with Colin very muchWritten September 15, 2024
- AllysonSQ0 contributionsIs there a better way to spend 3 days? I don't think so.I'm so glad I went on this tour! Lewis and Harris is an amazing, beautiful, wild place to see and being in a small group was for me the best way to do it. Helen took great care of all of us and was incredibly knowledgeable about the island and Scotland. She was entertaining and a very careful driver - the best possible combination. I appreciated being in one place for two nights (Stornoway) and the B&B that Rabbies booked for me was affordable, welcoming, comfortable, and well-located. I highly recommend!Written September 14, 2024
- Gromit19670 contributionsStunning views, worth every penny.I fully recommend this day trip. The views are amazing. You get to see much more than just Loch Ness. The day was made really special by our driver / guide Graeme. He is so passionate about the Highlands and so knowledgeable. We learnt so much and laughed a lot too. I can't praise him enough. Make sure you include the cruise along Loch Ness. Stunning views and very entertaining commentary from a member of the crew. A very good way to fit in a lot of sightseeing in one day.Written September 13, 2024
- tiagoj8130 contributionsVery Almost a 5*. Duncan Was Great!Amazing. Duncan, our tour guide, was highly knowledgeable and demonstrated a clear love of Scotland. He shared his culture and history with all of us, treating us to what felt like an intimate discovery of the Cairns, Culloden, and, of course, the spectacular Glen Affric. The latter was, by far, the highlight of our stay (drawing only with the boat trip across the beautiful Loch Ness itself). The day starts off at a slower, comfortable pace. You get to experience the Cairns before moving on to the historic epicentre, Culloden Battlefield. The history on display here is very interesting and formative. However, the information centre itself was a bit confusing, and the service was slow (20 minutes for a coffee really bites into your leisure/discovery time). We then stop for lunch at the quaint Beauly before heading into the nature-led leg of the tour. Once that starts, it's genuinely heavenly. I've been fortunate to travel quite a bit, especially in the UK, and Glen Affric is easily one of the most beautiful vistas in the country (alongside the likes of Padstow, Fowey via Megavissey, Loch Ness and, I suspect, Glen Coe) This is one of those tours that makes you feel like you understand more of the area you've visited and leaves you nostalgic as soon as it ends.Written September 8, 2024
- gone2bigsur0 contributionsAwesome countrysideAmy was our guide and driver. She is very knowledgeable and I learned so much. Lunch at applecross cafe was amazing. I splurged and had the beef cheeks. The little village of applecross was charming. It was a clear day so you could see Skye and the outer Hebrides.Written September 6, 2024

- Y6997ONmichaelb0 contributionsHighly worthwhile and recommended! This was a wonderful way to see the Highlands and learn a lot about Scotland, its history, culture and people. Our driver/guide Seana was simply superb, ably captaining our comfortable touring van, keeping us entertained with history, tales and engaging conversation about the areas we were seeing and the three days flew by. I most enjoyed the more remote, western side of the peninsula with its pristine beaches, mountain vistas, and of course, many, many sheep. Overall, this was a terrific way to get a feel for the Scotland Highlands in a short period of time. Highly worthwhile and recommended!Written August 24, 2024
- 487annikan0 contributionsWindy and wonderfulExcellent tour with a friendly, knowledgeable guide with the most wonderful accent. Saw everything that was on my list and the weather only added to the atmosphere (-bring an umbrella if you can, though it *will* break from the wind). I much preferred this to a tour by another company I did to Skye, which was underwhelming. But you really felt alive on Orkney, the wind was wonderful. It helped that the bus was a 16 seater, which makes for a much more personal experience. If you are into stone age civilizations this is your playground. Then there is all the other island specific farming etc going on, which is just delightful to witness and if you are lucky you will hear the melodious Orkney accent when listening to locals. Breakfast in our BnB in Kirkwall was great and for dinner we had takeaway which was excellent, and there are supermarkets everywhere, so go get your sustenance there if no spots are available. The restaurants will be full and they do tell you to make reservations, so make sure you do if you want a proper restaurant experience and you will be dropped of there. Accomodation was spread out over town and you were picked up there in the morning. We also made plenty of refreshment stops. It depends on the people in your group, whether a trip is quite successfull, but for the most part the people were getting along and bonding over the course of days. (Even though some people are never happy, or overly excited - which both was quite draining after a while, get it together people....). I would not neccessarily recommend this for children though. You can bring them, but it might be a little much having to sit still for long periods of time, which in turn bugs the other passengers, so think about that. However, I wish all islanders the strength to deal with all the cruiseship bs going on and wish they were not overrun with tourists, which was especially a problem in Kirkwall. We were lucky, and it was fairly quiet but on leaving there were two massive ships coming in which is ridiulous. The poor locals. They were friendly and helpful everywhere, but I would totally understand if some were fed up with the backpacking sardines squished into the little towns.Written August 22, 2024

- tseneka0 contributionsThe most incredible experienceWe absolutely loved this tour. Amy was hands down, the best tour guide on any tour, in any format, in any place I have ever met. She was welcoming and kind and unbelievably knowledgeable. Not just about Scottish history, but history of language, agriculture, pop culture, geology and everything in between. Even details as small as the music in the van - every song was curated for exactly the spot we were in at the moment. I cannot recommend Rabbie's enough. We did a second Rabbie's tour on this trip (Edinburgh to St Andrews), and it was also an excellent experience.Written July 24, 2024
- shreya_10060 contributions3-Day Lewis and Harris Tour - Wonderful ExperienceMy mum and I had an amazing time with Helen during the 3-day Lewis and Harris tour. She was an amazing guide who kept us engaged throughout the trip and is extremely well versed in the knowledge of the region. She knew exactly what bits were coming up at every turn, and informed us of them - either with a background story or historical context - almost in a story format and it was great. As far as the actual locations are concerned, we loved Harris’s rugged rocks and dramatic scenery, with the highlight being the Luskentyre beach. Helen made sure that we got plenty of photos of this beach and others, from amazing viewpoints, and the sunny weather really added to the day. After finished the tour, I’ve been reading up more about the isles as I’m now fascinated to learn more - St. Kilda particularly intrigued me because of how tragic I find that the place had to be abandoned. I will also definitely look up some of Helen’s book recommendations too. We hope to book another trip soon with Helen, maybe this time to Orkney.Written July 14, 2024

If you have the tour with Jim, it's simply the best!! He enjoys with you, able to answer any question (there are no stupid questions!) Professional tour, you stop first at the Invermorjstor bridge ( great views and surroundings) and a toilet stop at Drumnadochrit. Next stop Eilean Donan Castle (29£ family ticket). Great to see, don't miss it! You have an hour in there and if you don't want to visit you have a shop and a nice cafe to sit and wait. Then we crossed to the Skye Isle. That day there was a weather alert for specially heavy winds but Jim took us to the nicest places we've ever been. Partly snowing made beautiful photos! Confy bus, we were 9 and we had time to wander arround an take pictures with no pressure. Jim didn't stop telling us many interesting stories, he was tireless and I thank him for it! He bought us to a brewery (black isle) where we had free samples of the beer and some of us a coffee in the small cafe. We had the pleasure to be with our fantastic driver Jim, listening to typical music and enjoying his stories while it was snowing returning Inverness. We stopped at Eilean Donan Castle again just for toilets and some fantastic photos.

Not for a second I regretted this booked tour with my teens. We all enjoyed. Not only the fantastic spots on this tour, but also the driver. He was incredibly funny, loved to listen to his stories and music along the road tour. Rabbie’s is a fantastic tour operator. And if you think February is not a good month to visit the highlands, think twice.

It was definitely one of our best trips. Our guid&driver, Kevin, a Scottish gentleman, was absolutely a nice person. He was kind, communicative, patient, and knowledgeable. He managed the 12-hour trip so well that we went to every must-see sight. During the trip, Kevin played some music(mostly highland style) to help us submerge ourselves into the Highland context. There were also many jokes and Highland tales to keep the 12hour trip alive. To conclude, I would highly recommend the trip with Kevin.

We enjoyed our tour to the Isle of Skye.
The tour guide, whose name is Helen, made the tour enjoyable with facts and anecdotes about the sites as the tour progresses, we particularly enjoyed the music that was played on the minibus.
The minibus is very comfortable and we covered 275 miles on the day of the tour.
The reason I gave 4 stars and not 5 stars is the amount of time you have to spend travelling on the bus, It wasn’t a problem for us but we are in our 50’s and I wouldn’t recommend it for children.

We chose Rabbie's because we knew it would be a small group but owing to the fact that it was also low season, we had a grand total of 5 people on the tour with Duncan. Duncan was an excellent tour guide, full of stories and laughs. We also enjoyed his musical entertainment (he played the flute on some of the stops) and played relevant Scottish/Skye music. We really enjoyed our day out with Duncan.

I booked this on Friday for the coming Sunday and there were 3 other people.
Numbers were limited from 16 to 8 maximum allowing good spacing between people.
This group of 5 made stops off the bus much easier and allowed us to get away on time and possibly do/see more than a full tour might have.
Our tour guide was Emily and she was excellent - very knowledgable, friendly and professional. She kept us educated with the history of areas we stoped at.
The weather in Inverness was bright and sunny, unfortunately not so in Skye. Even though that was the case, we managed to see all the sights that were recommended and even returned to Inverness by 6.30pm, with a drop off nearer our hotel than the bus stop.
Even with our masks on, the tour was comfortable and enjoyable. I would definitely use Rabbies again.

In August 2022, we took an 8hr. tour of the Isle of Skye, out of Inverness, with Rabbie
Bus Tours. Ann and I, longtime friends since youth (proudly aged 81 and 78), from
the USA, were on a 2wk Wales and Scotland tour, ending with bucket-list tickets to
The Royal Tattoo. Our Rabbie driver was Graham, and he had us at his very
brogue-y hello. Amongst many helpful friendly people along the way, we found
Graham no exception. His lovely accent enhanced his knowledge of
Hebrides lore and history, with interesting yarns, creating a "buddy" energy, genuine
and warm. Your rowan tree is my mountain ash, Graham, a favorite. He was mindful
of his tour people staying at safe distances, and an impressive driver maneuvering
Skye's scenic, winding, hilly roads. We needed that dopamine triggered in our brain, thanks. Glad we met ye, Graham. hope you pursue your art someday.

I originally had the tour booked the day after but due to cancellations I asked the tour guide if I could join that day's tour instead. He kindly offered and arranged an extra place on the tour for me and I am very grateful for that. I think it was Paul that led the tour that day. He rearranged the stops in a flexible way so that we could get the best views and photos from the trip! He was very knowledgable about Scottish history and culture and I learnt a lot from the trip. He was willing to answer any questions as well.
The scenery was magnificent and I definitely recommend this tour.

So glad I booked this tour - it's an amazing and easy way to see some of Skye from the convenience of being based in Inverness. The 16 seater bus is modern, is comfortable and has USB charging. I enjoyed all the amazing scenery on the route toward Skye (loch Ness, Eilan Donan Castle, Glen Shiel for example) and there were plenty stops and opportunities for photos. Skye is such a beautiful place. What made the tour extra special was our friendly driver Jim. He has a great sense of humour and a fantastic knowledge of Scottish history ( I learned a lot even though I'm Scottish myself) - oh and he has a good music playlist to listen to on the journey back to Inverness! It's a long day but so worth it. I highly recommend Rabbies for their professionalism and range of tours on offer, all very reasonably priced. I will definitely book another tour sometime!

Wow what an experience! A massive thank you to Kev for being such a fantastic guide and for providing us with a thoroughly enjoyable day. This was certainly and by far the highlight of our trip to the Highlands. The weather was delightful, the scenery spectacular and we lucked out on a kilted Highlander as our guide. Kev was marvellous. He told us incredible stories, put on a lovely playlist which only heightened the overall fantastic atmosphere of the trip and made sure that every part of our trip was fascinating and comfortable. One of the best tours I've ever been on with a truly incredible guide.
P.S. Thank you to Kev for answering all of my boyfriend's incessant questions on Scottish clans, kilts and salmon fishing.

Hi, can we not strictly follow the routes tightly, and go through less destinations?
Written December 9, 2021
Why would you want to do this. This tour gets such good reviews for a reason. We found the driver flexible in terms of lengths of time at each destination and there was general consensus amongst our tour which was really agreeing with the drivers recommendations based on the options given. It is a long day from 8.30 to around 7.30pm.

Apologies for the delay in responding - only just seen your message. If you haven't already been, below is the "blurb" from Rabbies Tours (who we went with)
"Our buses are not wheelchair accessible, however we have large luggage compartments which may easily take a folding wheelchair or walking frame. Our staff are not able to offer physical assistance when boarding or disembarking from the buses or at any point during the tour. Guests should be comfortable getting on and off the bus on their own or with the assistance of a travelling companion.
Entry and exit from the mini-coaches is via the front left passenger door. There are three steps up into the coach – each 150mm in height. There are grab handles on both sides, the step edges are clearly marked and the treads are non-slip."
Hope this helps, and if you haven't been yet - enjoy!
