We enjoyed our tour to the Isle of Skye.
The tour guide, whose name is Helen, made the tour enjoyable with facts and anecdotes about the sites as the tour progresses, we particularly enjoyed the music that was played on the minibus.
The minibus is very comfortable and we covered 275 miles on the day of the tour.
The reason I gave 4 stars and not 5 stars is the amount of time you have to spend travelling on the bus, It wasn’t a problem for us but we are in our 50’s and I wouldn’t recommend it for children.

In August 2022, we took an 8hr. tour of the Isle of Skye, out of Inverness, with Rabbie
Bus Tours. Ann and I, longtime friends since youth (proudly aged 81 and 78), from
the USA, were on a 2wk Wales and Scotland tour, ending with bucket-list tickets to
The Royal Tattoo. Our Rabbie driver was Graham, and he had us at his very
brogue-y hello. Amongst many helpful friendly people along the way, we found
Graham no exception. His lovely accent enhanced his knowledge of
Hebrides lore and history, with interesting yarns, creating a "buddy" energy, genuine
and warm. Your rowan tree is my mountain ash, Graham, a favorite. He was mindful
of his tour people staying at safe distances, and an impressive driver maneuvering
Skye's scenic, winding, hilly roads. We needed that dopamine triggered in our brain, thanks. Glad we met ye, Graham. hope you pursue your art someday.
Happy trails to you, in your beautiful piece of the planet. Kathy S.

Skye day trip with Paul as our guide. Firstly we have to highlight Paul. A brilliant guide, his knowledge was incredible. Story telling on point and music brilliant. Particularly loved the folklore myths and legends, really helps you understand the culture and history of the Highlands.

We can't fault the tour. Each stop had just the right amount of time. Plenty of toilet breaks too. Paul suggested free and paid things to do at each stop. We would recommend paying the £10 fee to enter Eilean donan Castle when you arrive - it is stunningly beautiful.
We took a packed lunch and although there was places to eat at Portree this worked best for us.

To get the most of the day just immerse yourself in the experience, the history, legends and scenery. You won't regret it. 12 hours flies by.

Helen is a phenomenal human being (and tour guide). Her Skye day trip from Inverness is a 12-hour minibus tour that visits all the best spots on Skye and along the route. She somehow managed to do two jobs simultaneously: that of the driver and the tour guide. In my experience those are typically two separate jobs. Even more impressively, she managed to do a better job at both together than most tours I have been one where they are separate people!

There is a lot of driving, but the scenery is beautiful. She has an incredible wealth of knowledge about the history, the culture and even the geography of the area. The speakers in the van were crisp and went all the way to the back of the van, which meant that everyone could hear her clearly. She is a brilliant storyteller and has a good sense of humour. All of these combined (together with her lovely accent) kept us engaged all day and made it easy and enjoyable to take in all the information.

With some stories Helen went above and beyond her professional duty as a tour guide, she did even more than just inform and entertain us, she... moved us. She went beyond the facts and figures and showed… heart. Especially when talking about the Highland life; what was, what is and what could’ve been.

But don’t worry, she doesn’t talk all day! She played plenty of carefully selected local songs (each of them with a relevant story attached) that allowed you to relax and focus on the scenery.

There are toilet breaks nearly every hour. Some of the breaks also allow you to buy quick snacks. If you are a fussy eater then you might want to bring your own food. The lunch stop, Portree, is mostly seafood, burgers and sandwiches with one small supermarket.

The trip was perfectly planned, clearly the results of many years of experience. We left from Inverness bus station, which is the easiest place to get to in Inverness. She had our names on a list, so we didn’t need to show any tickets. The tour stops for just the right amount of time at each stop. Helen always clearly announced at what time everyone should be back in the bus. At every stop she pointed out the top attractions, both the famous ones as well as her local secret gems. She also gave very clear directions on how to walk there from the bus, which was handy since most of the trip did not have internet service.

Helen is also a great driver. I get car sick fairly easily. But despite some of the curvy roads on the trip, with Helen’s driving I didn’t feel sick once!

Overall, I would very highly recommend Rabbie’s day tour of Skye with Helen. This is probably the best 12 hours you can spend in the Highlands. I have never been on the Timberbush tour, but I can’t imagine how it could be better than this one.

I highly recommend Rabbie's tours if you have only one day to visit the Isle of Skye. Our tour guide, Gregor, was brilliant! Throughout the trip, he shared interesting facts about Scottish history and culture and even put on music for us, which made the trip better. Even when the weather didn't allow us to watch one of the stops (Old Man of Storr), he proposed an alternative (Fairy Glen) that complemented the trip beautifully.

I'm not the tour taking type, so I went in to this with some trepidation, but ended up thoroughly enjoying the trip. Kev did a great job explaining the history of the areas we passed at just the right level, and was happy to take follow questions. And maybe more importantly on some of the narrow, twisty, high roads, Kev always kept a steady hand on the wheel so it was easy to relax and enjoy the views and the history lessons he imparted. Top notch job. Also key was having only 16 people along, which make loading and unloading as we went from stop to stop a breeze. Kev was also very good at communicating what to do at each stop, when to be back, etc., as well as handling any questions that came up, be they administrative or questions about the land or the history surrounding it. Lots of little anecdotes you'd never find in a guide book.

I originally had the tour booked the day after but due to cancellations I asked the tour guide if I could join that day's tour instead. He kindly offered and arranged an extra place on the tour for me and I am very grateful for that. I think it was Paul that led the tour that day. He rearranged the stops in a flexible way so that we could get the best views and photos from the trip! He was very knowledgable about Scottish history and culture and I learnt a lot from the trip. He was willing to answer any questions as well.
The scenery was magnificent and I definitely recommend this tour.

It poured rain all day so visibility was low. I would have liked the guide to tell us more about the place and things about the highlands as we ended up on the bus for a long time due to the rain. I didn’t like that we had no choice but to pay 10 GBP to visit the castle. That was my first tour with Rabbie. Other tours don’t impose a one hour wait to visit inside a castle so in retrospect I wouldn’t do this tour again because I rather see the landscape and hear the his/stories from the guide. The tour was shortened by 90 minutes. The guide didn’t seem to have any alternatives. The company should have offered to tour us elsewhere since we paid for a 12 hour tour.

Such an amazing day tour to the Isle of Skye! Our tour guide Stewart was awesome, telling great stories and making sure everyone was comfortable the entire time. He truly went out of his way to make sure that we got the full Skye experience, and that everyone saw everything they were hoping to see. We made so many great stops that it hardly felt like we spent much time in the coach at all. Would highly recommend to anyone looking to do a day tour out of Inverness.

We got lucky with weather but our best piece of luck was Helen the guide. Her enthusiasm is contagious, her cheerfulness too. She plied us with history in a gentle way for those of us not knowledgeable about the different sights. I enjoyed the music she included in the commentary, really is a beautiful addition and I think demonstrates how much she enjoys what she does. Bravo Helen.
