A fun and full day through Scotland
I spent the holidays in Glasgow and this was a perfect day excursion through the highlands, Loch Ness, Ben Nevis, Pitlochry and Loch Lomond. Mr Forrest, the tour guide and bus driver, was both very knowledgeable and had a good sense of humor. The photo provided was from an impromptu 5-10 minute stop by Loch Lochy with the low clouds. Mr. Forrest even provided a good single malt recommendation. If you have a free day, I highly recommend.

    Great taste of the highlands!
Wonderful tour led by driver/guide Marc B. He was knowledgeable and engaging which made the tour feel worthwhile. I loved all his fun facts and learnt so much about the towns we stopped in and passed through. He was able to be flexible with our group which was great as we even got to see some highland cows, despite it being winter! Would definitely recommend Timberbush and would gladly take another of their tours.

    Definitely a must!
It is a long day (and it can be tiring), but if you don’t have a car and want to see the most breathtaking sights in Scotland, this is the tour for you. Every place we visited was absolutely stunning and captivating. Anthony, our driver/guide was funny, knowledgeable, and witty. He kept us laughing throughout the journey and shared fascinating commentary about Scottish history. I would 100% recommend this tour!

    Wonderful tour of the area
Like any tour, it’s only as good as the guide and ours, Stuart, was fantastic. We had a small group of 12 on the tour in a van that fit 16, which really personalized the experience. I know they have bigger fleets so maybe call and ask the size of the bus before booking if this matters to you. We did the Loch Lomond/Stirling Castle tour and he gave relevant history about the area, fun facts and played some great Scottish songs between talking. It was raining torrentially and extremely windy and he maneuvered the small winding roads tremendously well. Nobody wanted to do the boat tour due to the weather so we stopped in Luss instead. This was my favorite part of the tour as we still got to see Loch Lomond but also walk a quaint little village which I throughly enjoyed. It is worth asking to include this stop on the tour vs the boat if everyone agrees. We had to skip Aberfoyle due to severe flooding up to our thighs but he let us take photos at a smaller spot little bit up the road which was great and the drive through the Trossachs is stunning and plenty of time at each stop. Stirling castle is an additional cost ~£16 per person, but I thought it worth it. A fantastic trip and great driver/guide!

Marc was an amazing guide! He had thought of every detail and ensured that we were having a great time. A highlight of the trip was seeing the highland cows, even though, Marc mentioned that it may be difficult to see given the winter season. Marc was prepared for this moment with carrots for us to feed them. Highly recommend!

I made a last minute booking, made a week in advance just before the Easter break for myself and best friend to go on a 3 day Isle of Skye tour with either twin or 2 singles. The first operator we tried said only double bed available, so went with Timberbush and am extremely happy with the decision.
The bus was tidy and spacious fitting 11 of us into the 16 seat bus, driven and guided by one of those tour guides that just is brilliant at their job. Shelby quickly warmed to us as we drove out of Glasgow, leading us on an incredible journey, giving the best taste test of the Scottish highlands and Isle of Skye one can manage in 3 days. Needless to say, thanks to this tour, I will be back, for many more trips.
Thanks to the team for organising last minute accommodation and making the whole process easy. And thanks to Shelby, a wonderful, energetic and caring guide!
This trip was a last minute change of plans for my best friends 40th that we ended up having clear skies on the road through Glen Coe to celebrate. It could not of been a better trip. I'm also glad the rain and wind came to create some wonderful weather for taking photos, giving me an idea of what to expect.
Also, Shelby even hand drew on a map, the route we took, and where we stopped, the Scottish Music played which just made the whole trip so unique. Probably the best part about it was there was no feeling like we were being rushed, yes we had to keep moving, but every where next was just as amazing, that this is just a taster of what you can experience. Don't expect to spend all day somewhere, but log the favourite places to come back to another time, there is so much to see and Shelby knew so much!

This was an amazing trip for my wife and I. We got to see so many sites, and due to the beautiful weather and flexibility & knowledge of our guide Graham, we got to see more sites than was even on the itinerary. Some of the incredible sites included Eilean Donan Castle, Old Man of Storr, multiple waterfalls, Fairy Glen, Kilt Rock, Quirang, serious great views of the mountain & lake scenery, rivers, bridges, and more. All along the way Graham was full of facts, figures, history, legend, stories, and even music that he played while we were driving in the bus. The bus was very comfortable and safe, and we felt the timing of the stops really made the trip all the more amazing.
I'd totally recommend Timberbush as well as Graham !

I just did this trip one week ago. It was terrific, and especially if you are a solo traveler as I am. The bus accommodates about 9 passengers comfortably, but can hold up to 10. Our driver was Brian Steele, a very interesting, knowledgeable young man with a great wit and good countenance. He made the trip enjoyable for all of us regardless of our ages. I would ask for him again if I return for another visit to Scotland.
I had the option of booking my own accommodations in Portree, which I did. The tour company suggested making dining reservations but did not give an approximate arrival time, so I didn't do this. Big mistake. I recommend that future passengers book dinner reservations for 7pm. I was lucky that my hotel had a restaurant where hotel guests could eat, otherwise my choice would have been a Japanese restaurant or a Chinese takeaway. That was the ONLY negative of the tour. Everything else was great! See my other review under Timberbush Tours.

Dear islwmn2022, Thank you for your review. I'm pleased to hear that you had a great three-day adventure on your Isle of Skye, The Highlands and Loch Ness with Brian Steele who was interesting and knowledgeable. It’s always lovely to hear positive feedback about our drivers! We love that we were able to share the beauty of the Isle of Skye with you, it really is something special! Thank you for your valuable feedback. We have taken this. This year we made a list of restaurants sending this in advance so everyone could know about the limited dining options a book a table. We hope to see you again sometime soon so we can help you experience more of the magic of Scotland. All the best, Aleix

I’m writing this while traveling back to Glasgow on a Citylink bus I hired this morning….the 2nd day of the Isle of Skye tour I paid for yesterday. I realize the weather was overcast/raining some then BUT I know other Tour guides STOP for photos regardless & leave it up to passengers whether to get out. I’d hurt my knee & wouldn’t have been able to walk much & was going to stay in Portree taking my time sightseeing (dark when we arrived). But last night after we’d been dropped at our hotels I realized I needed (important) things from my bag (on bus) so I texted the Guide & evidently that was asking too much. He finally said he’d meet me in the square in 5….it was raining harder but I walked/limped as fast as I could so as not to aggravate. Found him sitting in bus while I was getting soaked. He took bag out (roller type but heavy) and I proceeded UPHILL with it. A young man stopped me & said to let him help, got it to hotel and asked if I wanted it brought in….I thought he worked for them! The people at Tongadale Hotel were awesome also. A young waitress carried my bag upstairs before I could stop her! So there were 2 people being considerate without it being their ‘place’ to do so. To me, that & being told the Itenerary was ‘ outdated and probably from the summer’ (the reason we didn’t make some stops) along with loud music being played half of the way, it all set the tone for how the next few days would be, so I went online and booked a bus to Glasgow. I’m actually getting beautiful pictures from my window so the money spent on the Expensive Tour isn’t entirely wasted…..I’m trying to ‘making lemonade’! 😊.
The Highlands/Skye area were the Main places I wanted to visit while in Scotland….and it didn’t happen, at least not the way I envisioned it. The other passengers were all of a culture I’m familiar with and will not question anything much less complain. I do feel bad for them today.

Hi Melody, I’ve had a look on our coach tracking system and can see that the driver did stop at most of the scheduled stops on day one of the tour with enough time for people to get on and off the coach. After speaking to the driver-guide on the tour it’s clear to me that he went above and beyond what he needed to do on this occasion. You asked for your luggage to be kept on the coach, then changed your mind (due to realising you left something important in there) and asked the driver-guide to take your luggage to you during his rest time. After a long day of driving he suggested that, if you were comfortable with it, he could take the smaller bag to you instead of your larger luggage that was heavy. He then sent you a message saying he could meet you at Somerled Square, which you agreed to. As the road your hotel was situated on is a one-way road he could not get any closer to your hotel. Our driver-guides are entitled to rest time outside of the tour hours, Kenny went above and beyond this to organise getting your luggage to you. There are some parts of the itinerary that may not be suitable in the dark, or attractions that may close in the winter. This is what our driver-guide would have been trying to explain. Had you contacted us directly we would have been able to help you and sort it all in house. I hope you got to see some of Skye despite choosing not to take the second day of our tour as it is beautiful. Best Wishes, Jodie

The trip in general is well planned. Despite my last minute booking, Timberbush was able to accommodate me and help me with booking the accommodation. My guide, Kenny, was extremely helpful and punctual the whole trip. He's got a whole playlist going on, and an unchallenged knowledge and passion for Scottish history, which he spent hours filling us with (I might have fallen asleep at some parts though, sorry Kenny! ;> )

Despite the unprecedented technical issues with our bus that caused significant delays during the last day, Kenny was integral in keeping our spirits up and ensuring that we were able to hit our bucket lists (albeit a shorter time spent). I highly recommend travelling with Timberbush when looking for travel around the Scottish Highlands and I look forward to traveling with Timberbush again.

Hi there, thank you for your review! I'm so glad to hear you had a great experience on tour with us and with Kenny as your driver-guide. I'm sure he won't be offended that you fell asleep, the 3 days on Skye can be pretty action packed and the coaches are very comfortable - it's bound to happen eventually! I'm sorry to hear that there were some issues on your last day but it's great that Kenny was able to ensure you still had a great time. We look forward to seeing you again as well! We spent 2 full weeks in Scotland and had mapped out our own tours of Glasgow, Edinburgh, Stirling, Perth, and Falkirk. With three days left, we decided to book the 3-day tour of Isle of Skye and the Highlands. Allowing somebody else to drive, narrate, and point out the highlights and history of our scenery was AMAZING! Our tour guide, Martin, was great! From pickup to dropoff, we were at ease and comfortable on the bus. He made sure we had opportunities for pictures, snacks, and restrooms. We booked our overnight accommodations through the travel company, and our host home in Portree was just perfect! I would recommend you book reservations for dinner in Portree. During the summer months, every restaurant was fully booked except for Chinese and Indian cuisine. We had delicious Chinese as the result, but definitely try to book ahead of your arrival. The scenery in Portree, in the Quiraing, at Kilt Rock, and at the Old Man of Storr was absolutely stunning! There were times we had to remind ourselves we were in Scotland because the landscapes looked like scenes from Hawaii!! Some of our seemingly impromptu stops seemed to just add to the character of this journey. We have already recommended this tour to several friends that are going to Scotland. This was well worth the money.

THIS TOUR WAS FABULOUS! Our guide, Stevie (or Steve) was kind, knowledgeable and very funny. He did a fantastic job teaching us about the history, geology, and culture of our surroundings. He did this with contagious humor and interest and showed an evident love of his job. This tour satisfied all our adventurous cravings, we tried local food (as per our guides suggestions) hiked gorgeous mountain trails (my favorite was the fairy pools), and walked around small villages of Portree and St. Augustus. The accommodation was fantastic - lovely, clean, spacious, and had complementary breakfast options. For the three day tour, days 1 and 3 had quite a bit of driving, though it was broken up by scenic stops for photos and food. Be prepared to be sitting for a while admiring the spectacular view of mountains, lakes, streams, cows, farms and more around you. I highly recommend this tour as a great way to explore the Isle of Sky, Highlands, and Loch Ness if you don’t have the time to walk it all yourself!

As an independent solo traveller , this is one of the few tours I have joined since on the road years ago  . It turned out to be a very good experience.

Timberbush tour is a well organized tour company- they keep me informed from hotel booking to the amended departure date. They offered the fair price with many options for the hotel and restaurant recommendations.

Most importantly the tour guide / driver gentleman called Euan is fantastic , Clearly shows that he is well prepared and fulfilled the entire trip with his rich insight knowledge , clear speaking and  enthusiastic polite manner . He shows true caring to us  by playing  the selected folks songs, even the story of the famous myth of  Inverness monster .  I have learnt so much during the 3 days tour . Thank you Euan!

Highland is an amazing place . I highly recommend it.

This tour was amazing. Andrew.J our tour guide was really well prepared and a lot of fun. You know a good guide when you can actually feel that he loves the place he's living and working from the heart. And the stories of Scotland during the long travels whilst on the road were also great. Obviously going to Skye in the winter season is a gamble because of short daylight and unintended weather like sudden snow but the view of it all with snowy scenary made it even more great than I would have imagined. Skye was a beautiful Isle and if able would love to just book this tour again at a different or even just to look it up for all ffour seasons it was fantastic.

I went on the 3 day isle of sky trip and it was fantastic. Our guide Neil was the best guide we could have hoped for. Seriously 10/10 guide! He was super knowledgeable, friendly, patient and accommodating and also really funny! The weather was pretty rainy on the full day in Skye but Neil still made it work and we all still had a really fun time. Would 1000% recommend!
