- thomasrM7776PB00Generally underwhelming experienceI purchased a watch here in March 2023. The process in store actually went find, although the watchmaking experience essentially involves picking a case, picking a strap then getting the back engraved if you want it. When finalising the sale I was told the strap wasn't in stock, and would take a few weeks to arrive. Fine I thought, no problem. However, from this point onwards it took a long time to sort everything out, and the customer service on the Kartel side wasn't great, in fact it was practically non-existent. I was initially told it would take a 2 or 3 weeks to come back in stock. After hearing nothing after 3 weeks I called, to be told the same thing again ("a few more weeks"). After a month a manager intervened and told the shop to give me a different strap so I could at least wear the watch I had paid for. Over the next four months numerous deadlines passed, with no updates from Kartel; I was never contacted on their initiative, and every time I had to call them for an update. Each time I was told "a few more weeks". I was eventually guaranteed delivery by a certain date, otherwise I would be provided with a refund. That deadline came and went, and when I called for news (again, they didn't call me, I called them), the manager I had previously spoken to was on holiday and hadn't left any instructions. So nobody had a clue what I was talking about. Eventually in mid-July, four months after the purchase, I received a call from a manager (after prevouisly phoning the shop that day and asking to be contacted) to tell me the strap would arrive imminently - and it finally did a few days later. On that call, I was promised a refund as a gesture of goodwill, but that hasn't materialised, which I suppose reflects the rather loose management they seem to have of customer service as they have no doubt forgotten about that promise. The watch itself is nice. I'm not sure if it's worth the £215 I paid for it, but it has the novelty value of being a Scottish watch. Less than six months later, the same watch costs £265, a price hike of more than 20%. However, it would have cost £175 had I bought it in the autumn of 2021, and even today it is being sold online in the USA (by aristorwatches) for $130! I'd give an extra star to reflect the enthusiasm and friendliness of the staff, but in general the customer service doesn't seem to have developed in line with the company's growth, and what should have been a fun experience has only been a source of hassle.
- 979attilac00The best memory of my 50thAn extremely well designed shop with a warm, welcoming and elegant look! The personalised watch building experience is so unique and clever! Ben is a big asset of this company full knowledge of the brand history providing a fantastic customer service! Combine the tangible experience with a memory that will make it long lasting! THANK YOU FOR MAKING MY 50TH BIRTDAY!
- HospiceNurse7100Excellent service, quality watchesI enjoyed meeting Jordan at Kartel. He patiently helped me select components for two separate watches and worked to make sure I was satisfied. One item needed to be mailed to me after I left, but they gladly did so. I would recommend this unique experience to anyone visiting the area.
- MrMarkJohnstone00Watch Building ExperienceI had been bought a watch building experience by my wife, and I am afraid to admit it, it took me ages to get round to utilising it. My tardiness aside, my visit to the Kartel Showroom in The St James Quarter, Edinburgh, was absolutely spot on! My experience was faultless, from the initial warm welcome given to me by Dale, all the way through to leaving with my new timepiece. I was made to feel part of the Kartel concept, through being introduced to all the options that were available to produce my own bespoke watch. The watch building experience is ‘hands on’ but through being given expert guidance and information, very relaxed, so I felt comfortable in the showroom environment. Needless to say, I am incredibly happy with my new watch and will certainly be back to invest in another at some point in the future. Thank you, and all success Kartel!
- ledgar200300Low keyI am the recipient of six watches and have purchased a pair of Sunglasses. Love the product though , my visit to St Andrews store on Sat 4th December was non eventful my Wife and I found the salesman not interested or sincere not that talkative no discounts or vouchers for future sales or being offered the occasional dram which adds a nice touch to your shopping experience. Sorry Kartel if the shop were busy we would understand. Perhaps you have spolied us in the past .
- ricardomera00Great watches and good pricingHappy after a great experience at this amazing watch shop. Good customer service and will definitely recommend!
- leslienicholasdavidr00Great Watch great experienceI was unable to book the watch building experience as it was fully booked online for today. We popped into the shop anyway and waited whilst the customer before us was dealt with . I knew which watch I wanted from the window and the young man who served me built the watch from new components and chatted to us about Kartel and our visit to Scotland, even offered us a drink. It’s a lovely timepiece and will be a good memory to remind me of St Andrew’s and Kartel when I wear the watch in the future.
- misscj-85600Fantastic!Had a lovely watch building experience here with friends for my birthday, would definitely recommend.
- johndgilmour200Buy onlineI actually brought my watch online so did not actually visit the shop ...but a great looking watch and made in st Andrews Scotland
- T3752FAalison00Brilliant service and watchWalked in to buy a watch and could not be happier with service provided in explaining everything (and more) that I needed to know to buy one. Fantastic customer service and a watch that I am delighted to have. Would recommend to everyone
- P2756YTianw00Brilliant find ........ will return for other visits.Founnd the shop when visiting St Andrews, so glad that I did. Very relaxed atmosphere, and loved the way everything was laid out with all the various watches and the many choices of Straps which allows you to create your own unique timepiece, I was able to have my watch engraved so even more special. also enjoyed the sunglasses that was on offer. I certainly will be back.
- 4_gordon00Watches galore!I went to buy a watch and wanted to compare different models and straps. The polite and helpful young assistant showed me different watch cases and coloured straps and allowed me to compare them on my wrist. I made my selection from the choices available. I am very happy and will definitely consider returning.
- Resort69364100excellent experience!I booked a watch making experience for my brother as a wedding gift. He and his partner had a lovely afternoon and came out with 2 fabulous watches! Thankyou to Kartel. Would definitely recommend this to others. Afterwards we then bought another watch from the gorgeous range available.
- daviedee6400Excellent Product at Excellent PricesWe have now bought 4 watches over the last two years both for ourselves and to give as gifs. Given the "mix and match" options, it is highly unlikely that you will see anyone wearing an identical watch and strap combination to you. The service is polite, personable and knowledgeable. Keep up the good work!
- Alistair50000Birthday TripVisited the shop to review the watches available. Excellent choice, that can be adapted to the style you prefer. Purchased a watch that was engraved with the relevant message. The visit and purchase process was all done in a friendly and business like manner. Very impressed with the products on offer and the purchasing process. Thanks

I booked this experience to do with my dad as a special gift for Christmas. We managed to fit it in before the restrictions came into play back in Decemeber. We had such a warm welcome for Dale and the shop dog, lovely little Betty! Dale talked us through the whole process thoroughly and it was fascinating learning about the roots of the brand and watch building. My dad picked out the perfect component combination for himself and we had it engraved with a little note I wrote myself! It is such a special gift that my dad will treasure and the memory of building it together will stick forever. I would definitely recommend this unique experience for anyone looking for something special to do with a loved one. I also came away with a stylish watch that I love!!

I spent a lovely time in the shop at St Andrews hearing about the history of the company and the watches they sell, choosing from a large selection of watches and straps on display and fitting my choices together. I would thoroughly recommend the experience made even more enjoyable by the berries, shortbread and malt whisky which accompanied it. A great way to choose my birthday present!

A great experience. Ben was informative, told the story of watch making in the local area and then helped me to design my own watch. A number of styles, faces, colours and straps allowed me to pick a watch that I wanted. Whilst ‘building it ‘ was perhaps a little over-egging the pudding, I did put the pieces together and helped design my personal engraving - with a lot of help from Ben.
In sum, this was a great hour or so - an ideal present for those folks (like me) who are difficult to buy for. And it was complemented with a bit of millionaire’s shortbread washed down with a fine Aberfeldy!

Just returned from a watch building experience I received as a gift. Could not recommend highly enough. While the voucher said an hour, I spent almost 2 in the company of Ben. Had the fortune of being the only customer that morning, so after an introduction into Kartel, followed by a history of watch making in the area, general chat on watches of all types and then had a great opportunity to look at the whole Kartel range and all the options available. In the end I purchased a Cameron with a black and white lambs wool strap.
An experience for those who love watches or are just looking for something a little different in St Andrews.

Have used Kartel St Andrews a couple of times now. Real welcome as soon as you walk in. Chatty staff but not pushy. Always very helpful.
Lovely interior with everything in its place and good choice without being overwhelming.
I bought quite a lot of goods just before Christmas so was given a small discount, very welcoming at that time of year.
There was chocolates/whisky on counter for customers although I did not partake.
Would recommend highly.

My sister bought me a voucher for Christmas for a watch building experience. So we thought we would make a weekend of it, turns out it was our last weekend away before Lockdown.
The shop itself is very classy and well finished and we felt very well looked after by the guys behind the counter.
There was absolutely no pressure to make a desicipn quickly, we were allowed to try various watch faces with various straps until we found one we loved.
I was also allowed to use the engraving machine and to fit the strap to the watch face myself, so when I get another strap I'll know how to do it myself.
Definitely a worth while experience and I would 100% reccomend it.

A welcoming and friendly environment to have our watch building experience with a drink and nibbles included in the price. Being able to choose the style of watch, straps and the choice engraving at a good price point provides a personal offering which is very much lacking in retail currently. Never felt rushed at any point and with the added bonus of compatibility with other products in shop means you are able to change the watch face or straps so can change the look easily without incurring the full cost of purchasing a brand new watch! Other items such as sunglasses and card wallets are available too again at good price points. Bought numerous experiences now for special occasions and all very well received!

I was given the watch building experience as a Christmas gift and being a watch collector I was over the moon.
The shop itself is beautiful inside and out, and from the moment I entered I was made to feel at home. I was given a coffee before moving onto the single malts. The decisions I faced with regards to watch and bracelet/ strap combinations were a lot harder then I expected. There was plenty to choose from and with my gift card I was able to obtain my ideal watch and not only one strap but two straps. This made the decision that bit easier. I now have a beautiful engraved watch.
This is one of the best presents I've ever had.

I had a great time at the watch building experience just before Christmas. Everything was so professionally done with covid and I felt so at ease! The activity itself is something I’d highly recommend to anyone who likes watches, I know this would be a great gift too. From the offering of food and drinks, to choosing every piece of our watch, we had such a lovely day out! The manager knew his stuff and was on hand to answer any questions we had. Again would highly recommend for something to do in St Andrews/Fife area !

Already a proud owner of 2 Kartel watches (I'm hooked) and seen they now do a watch building lesson, so had to get a piece of that. Couldn't recommend this enough, nice bit of history about Kartel while sipping a single malt :) Made to feel super welcome and walked through each step of the process. There is so much choice and so many combinations it can take an age to decide. But managed to nail it down with the new Knoydart model, which is awesome. Pretty cool being able to work the engraving machine also. Cheers guys!
