I had two private tours with Martin. We did an evening shoot and a daytime shoot. Martin is knowledgable with a camera, easy going, and knows the great spots about town to photograph. I use Aperture Tours in every city I visit, as I often travel alone and don't want to always wander about by myself, especially at night.

Having never been to Edinburgh before, I wanted to get the iconic photographs for my collection and blog—Apertures Tours well and truly delivered! Our guide was the super friendly and very knowledgeable, Martin. We started with coffee to get a good understanding of our skills and what we wanted to photograph. Martin tailored our tour based on our discussion; his in-depth knowledge of the city was invaluable. We covered a lot of ground throughout the evening but never felt rushed. Martin was an exemplary photography tour guide and he also gave us some tips on the best place to experience traditional Edinburgh food and drinks. We had an awesome time on our tour with Martin. He helped my daughter who has a strong interest in photographer to learn tips and tricks on how to take great photos. He also was very friendly and knew Edinburgh and its history. It was well worth it!

Martin was excellent. we met in old town Edinburgh and hiked the city taking photo's. Martin taught us how to use different settings for taking out standing photo's. it was much appreciated as we had a little knowledge but he was able to expand our knowledge even further. he was great, had a great personality and helped a lot. you need to take this tour with him. It was a blast. you will not regret working with Martin.

I had an awesome time on my tour with Martin! He really ensured that the experience was customized to my preferences. He very kindly would hold my bag, carry the tripod, pass me my lenses and even held the umbrella over me while it was raining! We had a many discussions about photography in general and he had many tips and great advice to offer. This tour is great for any type of photographer in my opinion, so don’t be shy to sign up. It doesn’t matter what camera you have. As I go through the photos that I took, I’m really happy with what I got. I feel like I was challenged just enough, and my technical skills are being further developed because of this tour. The time flew by so quickly! I’d definitely recommend this tour. It was a great experience!

Booking with Aperture Tours was super easy and one of the best things I did on my recent trip to Scotland. Martin was friendly and a great teacher for my nighttime photography tour. He made me feel comfortable and I'm extremely glad that I booked this tour for my first solo travel abroad. He was a trooper through some pretty cold temperatures and the entire evening was a delight! I booked it earlier on in my trip so that I was able to use a lot of what I learned (including how to use my brand new camera) throughout the rest of my trip. It was also a great experience to get to know the city a little better!

Edinburgh is a beautiful city to visit and has many attractions to photograph. Going out on a tour with Martin was an excellent idea as his knowledge as a photographer and as a local made for a fantastic 3 hours. Aperture make booking these tours straightforward and from meeting Martin to the end of the tour was a complete pleasure. Martin has a gentle but persuasive way of getting the best out of your photography. He is an excellent teacher who combined great patience with wonderful insight. I almost canceled my Edinburgh Night Photo tour because of rain, but I'm so glad I didn't! Martin was an outstanding guide, mentor, umbrella-holder, and all-around good sport as we did our best to make the most of a rainy night on the streets of Edinburgh. Despite the rain (or more likely because of it) I got a few of my favorite images from two weeks in Scotland. I wish I would have had more time to add on a street photography tour to take advantage of Martin's fascinating experience in documentary & street photography.
