          HIGHLY recommend Alice
We were a group of eight who absolutely loved our tour with Alice! She was very lively, had a great grasp of all the history of the area, and knew so many hidden gems to direct us to. Her storytelling was exceptional and vivid, and I would highly recommend her!

          Not a food tour
Firstly, the description for this tour is completely inaccurate. It is not a food tour, it is a history tour with some food squeezed in. Alec was very knowledgeable about the history and was nice enough, but had very little inspiration about food. It was an hour into our tour before we even had a tasting. Instead of stopping at a variety of spots with explanations on the origin and gastronomy, we stopped at 3 places…we had expected 10 separate tastings, including a whiskey, since our meeting place was at a whiskey shop; however, we did not get 10 tastings, we got 7-haggis, 5 different pies and deep fried black pudding). The first of haggis was actually good and we started to feel that the tour may be more promising after all, even if late in the game. Unfortunately we didn’t have another tasting for a bit at the second stop, where he selected a bunch of different hand pies to try…like 5 different hand pies. Very heavy and little difference between them. Our last stop was at a place where we were encouraged to eat deep fried pizza. It was so disappointing as we had just had the most amazing food tour in Dublin. We had hoped for salmon, cheese, haggis and other delicacies Scotland may be know for. I do a food tour everywhere I go and this was the most disappointing and the most expensive to be frank. (For $450 Canadian we got maybe $70 worth in food but a 2.5 hour history lesson). The worst part is that my husband and I got sick from the food. We were both up all night ill. So disappointing and frustrating as we had limited time in Edinburgh and this took a big chunk of it, then ruined our night and next day. My recommendation is this not be advertised as a food tour…take the food out of it and keep it as a history tour. Mostly, change your description as it is very misleading.

          Scottish history with a flare
Terrific experience with Svend-Erik who was super knowledgeable about all things Scotland (at least to us) from a very complicated history with details to keep us all engaged to fun facts about the castle itself. He was very attuned to our interests and adjusted the pace to suit our needs. I'm sure we could have learned much more with extra time but the 2 hrs was really just right--as my brain felt full at that point and I was ready for a rest!

Fabulous start to an amazig city!
We only had an hour and a half tour booked with Alec, which he extended an extra 15 minutes......yet the wealth of information that was intriguing, enlightening, and comical in that brief time was so extensive and interesting that I wrote probably my longest ever Facebook post describing our experience. If you have only a short time, Alec will give you a jam packed experience. We were only there for one day as a cruise ship port, but Alec showed us such a taste of Edinburgh's rich history and colored past that it is the one port we want to return to and spend a week....and when we do we'll book Alec again and do a much longer tour!

          Pleased with Laura
Laura was excellent and knowledgeable with a strong passion for her country. Easy to understand (I’m mostly hard of hearing). She was very pleasant. On time and professional, we were very pleased.

          Engaging tour
Alec met us punctually and in a friendly approachable manner . His walk and tour was engaging and informative with plentiful snippets of things you would have to dig deep into history books to find . Would happily recommend Alec to anyone wishing for a tour in Edinburgh

          BEST Tour Guide EVER!
We spent the day in Edinburgh with Alice. She is amazing! Her ability to keep us captivated with her incredible storytelling was fantastic! We had 4 in our group and we all said the same thing! I have been on so many tours over the years and I must say that Alice was my favorite! Don’t miss out - book with Alice! She is clearly a professional! Thanks so much for a great day Alice!

An excellent experience and great use of time.
There was a bit of a glitch with (dbl) booking through Tripadvisor/Viator - but resolved overnight. Svend-Eric my guide was excellent. Interesting content, very knowledgable and exactly what I was hoping for. It is a walking tour - that wasn't entirely obvious on the Tripadvisor site.

          Wonderful introduction to Edinburgh!
We spent an afternoon with Alec getting an introduction to Edinburgh. Within 20 minutes of starting, we knew it was gonna be an amazing tour. Alec had a wonderful mix of history, culture and personal stories. You could feel his love for his city. We were entranced with both the city and Alec and left knowing we have to come back to Edinburgh and would love to spend more time with Alec exploring the country. Recommend 10/10!!

Absolutely worth the money — Laura was fantastic!
We had a 9:30am tour and were set up with Laura who is very local to Edinburgh, and was fantastic as a guide. She had so much knowledge on the castle and shared so much history, and being in a more intimate tour of just her, my husband and me, and not part of a 20+ person herded tour, was so great. Highly recommend!

          Castle Tour with Monica
I recently visited Scotland and the first thing I did when I got off the plane was take a tour of Edinburgh Castle with Monica. She is wonderful. I got a comprehensive history of the castle and Scotland’s people. There were so many interesting details. She gave me enough time to explore and answered all my questions. It was like visiting a friend who took me around her city. Monica is super friendly and funny. We talked a lot about the castle as well as other subjects. I felt super comfortable even when traveling solo. This was a highlight of visiting Edinburgh and I was really happy. I also appreciated Monica’s travel tidbits to enhance my experience in Edinburgh. I would highly recommend this tour and Monica to everyone.

          Alice the Fantastic Storyteller!
What a fantastic experience with Alice with our 3 hour tour of the Royal Mile in Edinburgh. It was myself and my husband, in our 60's. We met up at a historic coffee shop and the adventure began. We had messaged with her prior to the trip so we knew what to expect. Always a good plan. We could not have chosen a better guide. Alice was able to take us to some key landmarks and lesser known ones and shared history and stories that we would never have known if we had just decided to "wing it" and wander about. It was like going about town with an old friend. We really loved the experience. Don't be a dummy tourist. Book with Alice. It's worth it and the memory will be priceless.

My mother and I spent 11 hours (round trip via car from Edinburgh) touring the highlands with Justin and it exceeded our expectations! He was knowledgeable, engaging, and tailored the experience especially according to our interests. He also knew the best spot to stop for delicious scones and tea along the way! I would highly recommend Justin to anyone who wants an extra special private tour.

Because of unexpected last-minute changes in plans, my wife and I
found ourselves with some down time in Edinburgh. Even though our
request for a tour came at the last minute, Monica fit us into her
schedule. She was great all the way through a long but extremely
worthwhile tour through the Highlands and Loch Ness. Her knowledge of
history, geography, culture, current events, and many other areas was
impressive. We never ran out of things to talk about. And she has a
great personality. She immediately put us at ease. Her main goal was
making sure we got what we expected out of the tour; she was not
handcuffed to a predetermined script. The memories will last us a
lifetime. We're so glad that she was able to accommodate our late
request. And the next time we plan to visit Edinburgh again, we will
certainly book her for another tour. Strongly recommended!!

This was a truly wonderful tour. We are glad to have booked this.Despite the length of the tour, our guide, Mandy had her prepared itinerary. She took us to enjoy the highlands, with a side tour of Stirling Castle and Duck Bay Marina, and opportunities for pictures. What made this tour more memorable was the care and preparation Mandy took. She had little bags for me and my husband and my 2 boys, which were filled with snacks, coloring books and a nice little present. She made sure we stopped for a quick coffee break, and a nice lunch overlooking Loch Lomond. Because the weather started out rainy and foggy, she was constantly checking the wether report to make sure we didn't venture into unsafe territories. This is definitely a good
choice, rain or shine. Mandy was very informative and a great conversationalist!
