- Mattk5842560 contributionsTour of Old Town and New Town in EdinburghOur family recently toured the Old Town and New Town in Edinburgh. Gerry was a fantastic guide - leading us through the beautiful City while providing historical and architectural context. I can not recommend Gerry more highly - he is patient, knowledgeable and gregarious. A tour with Edinburgh Walks is not to be missed if you find yourself in the Capital.Written January 8, 2025
- Tboysx40 contributionsThe Tour of All Tours - Really! What a fantastic tour! In a four hour session, we not only received a great overview of the new and old town, but also the historical, cultural, political and day-to-day insights. Gerry is a true local with a charming personality and loads of recommendations. We'll be back!Written January 1, 2025

- jessicalQ2309LQ0 contributionsGreat time! Great Value!Wow! Edinburgh is full of so much to see- so on limited time how do you get a great overview? Gerry! Gerry was informative and fun, covering a wide variety of sights throughout both old and new town. He kept not only my husband and I engaged but also my 3 teen sons. Beyond the actual walk Gerry was helpful before we arrived offering tips and suggestions on places to see and eat. During our walk he also answered questions and helped us sort luggage storage for the next day. It's like having a friend who lives in the location your visiting! The entire family agreed that this was our best tour throughout our 2-week European adventure.Written June 24, 2024

- BetsyBtravelin0 contributionsThe "Old" Brought Into a "New" LightWe thoroughly enjoyed our tour with Gerry. He did a great job of putting the importance of each location in the context of Edinburgh's fascinating history. He offered a perspective that included a necessary dose of humor but also empathy for the lives of Scots from the past; the history can be difficult to wrap one's head around, but he was quite good at drawing an enlightening picture. Gerry's tour is an excellent introduction to Edinburgh.Written April 30, 2024

- H1850SAbobe0 contributionsFANTASTIC TOUR - felt like we were visiting a distant family member! Our group of four (two couples) had a tremendous time on our private walking tour with Gerry , our guide. We booked this walking tour many months prior to the actual tour. Almost immediately after booking the tour, Gerry contacted me and gathered info about our interests, so he could tailor the walking tour to our group. I had several emails back and forth and by the time the tour started and we actually met Gerry in person, I felt like I was talking to, not just an old fashioned pen pal, but a member of my extended family that I had not seen in awhile. Gerry is very personable; throughout our 5+hours together, he continued to adjust our tour based on our interests and needs (including caffeine stops and ultimately lunch!). As a lifelong resident, Gerry is an expert on all topics about Edinburgh; and he is able to communicate this information in a very concise and, at times, entertaining way. He was able to smoothly switch topic as we asked about a wide range of Scotland and UK-related topics. The 5+ hours we spent with Gerry went by quickly and we were disappointed (and somewhat tired….Edinburgh is a very hill city!) when it was time to say Good bye! Great tour!!! Highly recommend it to any visitors to Edinburgh!Written September 4, 2023
- X41MJgracet0 contributionsA Pleasure from Start to Finish! Our guided walk with Gerry was invaluable, fun and incredibly informative. He contacted us beforehand to find out our interests and catered the experience to that. His extensive knowledge of Edinburgh's history, culture and sights gave us real insight into what we saw and did during the walk. He also gave us great restaurant and activity recommendations and provided suggestions on train trips outside of Edinburgh, which we did later in the week and enjoyed thoroughly. He clearly loves Scotland and wants to make sure visitors do as well!Written September 1, 2023
- Karin O0 contributionsFascinating Tour with GerryMy friend and I took our teen daughters to Scotland in June. I had already done two “walks” with Gerry a few years back - the Edinburgh old and new town and to Leith. This time he took us through Old Edinburgh, changing up lots of things. Gerry knows all of the secrets of the city, as well as the terrific history. Also took us to a great scones place. Gerry is hands down the best tour guide I have ever had! You will not be disappointed when you book with Gerry!Written July 22, 2023

Excellent private tour. Our guide Gerry was incredibly knowledgable and gave us a fantastic day in Leith and Edinburgh.
We learnt about history, culture and much more. We are well traveled and have high standards, and we were very happy with our tour guide Gerry.
He even took us to a special bar for a pint of beer at the end.
Highly recommended ;))

Hi Mitsuko,
Thank you very much for this fabulous review.
I am happy to hear that you and Nobu had an enjoyable day in Leith seeking out some history, culture and locations from the Trainspotting book and movie. Leith is a special place to me and it is nice that you had the chance to visit.
Hopefully we will meet again on your travels.
Gerry.

We went on a tour around the area of our office in Leith and it was great to learn so much history that's right under our noses. Gerry was really knowledgeable and very easy to listen to, I can't wait to share all my new fun facts with everyone!

Thanks to you all for a very enjoyable afternoon's walk around the historic Shore area of Leith. From Cromwell to Ned Kelly's Gang we packed in a lot. And the questions were all very pertinent too. We really enjoyed our day.
Thank you for this very kind review. Hopefully we can all get together again soon.
