We made all the stops that we wanted, including an extra stop to a whiskey distillery per our request. The restaurant we stopped at for lunch was absolutely delicious and easily catered to my husband‘s celiac disease and gluten and egg intolerances. His recommendations on sites to visit along the way kept the attention of adults and 2 teenagers. Very entertaining and fun adventure. I found Highland tours on google and decided to take the plunge...and was not disappointed. The Mackie brothers were both great hosts and very knowledgable . The tour gives you an opportunity to see a great deal of what is a beautiful country and gave us the to stop at a local whisky distillery. I would recommend Doune Castle, Glencoe and the lochs. What an amazing day! My wife and I had booked a tour of Ireland and Scotland but got COVID while there and missed most of it! Once we were negative and recovered, I found Rowan and Andy and immediately booked a private tour to make up for what we missed. It exceeded all expectations. Rowan picked us up at our hotel and whisked us off on a one day adventure we will remember forever! Doune castle was one of the first stops and I was so psyched to learn that it was where one of my favorite comedies was filmed! Monty Pythons Holy Grail! Not to mention that it has other history…We then took a quick stop at a wonderful small whisky distillery and had some samples and spent too much on single malt to bring back home. We then saw such beautiful landscapes, lochs, fed a “Heeland Coo”, had a delightful meal at a small restaurant then proceeded up to Glencoe where my mind was scrambled by the beauty of the Southwestern Scottish Highlands. This was an amazing experience and Rowan is a consummate professional who was accommodating, genuine, warm,funny, and had great conversational skills. You would be foolish to turn away from booking this! Incidentally, we spoke to the people from our original bus tour that went through the highlands while we were recovering and they didn’t get even a touch of the experience we did.

I wish I could give Andy and Rowan higher than five stars. Andy was our guide and we had the absolute best time with him. It felt like spending the day with an old friend and we were all sad to part ways at the end of the day. Andy went the extra mile (or kilometer) to make every single part of our day tour above and beyond special. We saw some of our favorite Outlander filming locations, had the best fish and chips along the way, spent some breathtaking moments with the Three Sisters (the beautiful mountains in Glencoe) and got to feed our new friend Honey the Highland Coo. Andy also spend some time showing us his favorite spots in Edinburgh so we would know how to best use our time the remainder of the trip. We shared lots of laughs throughout the day and learned about Scottish culture and history along the way. We are already looking forward to our next visit to Scotland, and Andy and Rowan will assuredly be a part of that itinerary too.

This tour was one of the most memorable events of my and my families Scotland trip! Our tour guide Garath was so funny, knowledgeable and charming and did a perfect job pacing our tour. We saw and did everything I had wanted and more and it was like traveling with an old friend minutes after we met. It was a true pleasure to be able to tour in comfort and enjoy the sights as Garath kept us laughing while sharing all of his considerable knowledge about this amazing country. When we come back to visit again (and we will!) this will be the first tour I book. HIGHLY recommend!

Andy was lovely! My partner and I had such a great time riding with him around the highlands. He went above and beyond to make sure we saw all we wanted and truly made our tour a customized, unique experience. We highly recommend Highland Private tours!!

Spending the day with Rowan in the Highlands was fantastic! Our family includes kids 9 to 15 and they enjoyed it as much as we did! The private whiskey tasting a Deaston to a fantastic lunch at Mohr 84 to the Highlands! It was all fabulous. Thank you Rowan for a magical day!

Exceptional tour. Our family of four had a great day in the highlands. Rowan was a fantastic guide and made the day even better than we expected. Every stop was wonderful, from Doune Castle to the Three Sisters. We highly recommend this tour, and we doubly recommend Rowan!

We spent the day with Andy and had a fantastic time! He met us at our hotel and from there we heading toward Glencoe. During the trips he made sure we made some stops to take in the cute Highland Cow, Doune Castle, have a delicious lunch and just take in the beautiful scenery of Scotland. He is extremely knowledgable about the area and we felt 100% comfortable with his driving. Being able to be on our own schedule as opposed to a huge tour bus was really nice. I would highly recommend hiring Andy or his brother for an amazing customized tour.

This was the highlight of my trip! We spent an amazing day with Andy, who is awesome, fun, and knowledgeable. We were traveling with my elderly grandmother, and he was so accommodating and helpful so she could enjoy the trip too. Each stop was fun — my family especially loved doing the audio guided tour of the castle and visiting the highland cows, and our lunch stop was delicious. It was a lot of driving, but it was a pleasure hanging out and chatting with Andy and he is also a great driver. Truly could not recommend this tour enough — thank you so much, Andy, for being so wonderful and for such a memorable day. I am so beyond glad we did this tour!

Simply stunning private trip into the heart of the Scottish Highlands. Andy was a great host with a vast knowledge of everything that Scotland has to offer. Organising a trip in this area isn't easy at all but this tour ticked all the boxes for places we wanted to visit. Having a local answer any of our questions and entertain us along the way was excellent. Also very engaging with our kids which is never easy when travelling. Top tour. Thanks again.

Rowan and his brother are great hosts and tour guides. Our Airbnb host recommended their tours right off the bat when asked if there was an easy way to check out the sites while we were there. My boyfriend and I were extremely happy with our day with them. Definitely would recommend booking a trip with Highland Private Tours to anyone visiting the area!

Hi there,
I’m not the best to answer this since we arrived only a half hour before closing. That was due to my request to spend extra time at Loch Ness and Inverness; no fault of the tour guide.
What I did receive was the educational lecture and some brochures.
However, I believe you can get yours as well as tastings there. The outside grounds and the location are quite photogenic. 😊

It’s a very customized tour. So you can tell your guide what your “must see” items are. He will build the itinerary around that.
Then with the remaining time in your day, your guide will suggest various attractions that will be convenient and interesting.
It’s entirely up to you. 😊
