We visited Edinburgh in October 2021 our main priority was the Rabbi’s outlander tour and a little site seeing in the city.
What a great tour we had we visited so many places on the day and it all ran very smoothly indeed. So much History and knowledge gained from this trip. The trip was a good price and the mini bus that we was toured in was lovely and comfortable. Our Driver was really informative and friendly the only downside was he wasn’t Scottish and didn’t wear a kilt, he was Australian but he did have a twang of Scot that was cute he also made up for it because he was such a nice guy and new his stuff. After a long chilly day we had a whiskey at a bar near the drop off point that our driver kindly recommended.

Had an awesome tour with Jim Scott! We saw a bunch of Outlander locations and Jim has watched the series so he knew how to describe things so fans would recognize them even if they were unfamiliar with Scotland. He also helped everyone get great shots at some of the memorable places.

I've spent several months in Scotland over the past few years and have been on 2 multi-day Rabbie's tours in the past, but Jim shared lots of new info and I thoroughly enjoyed the tour. He took the time to connect with everyone on the bus and on the long drive back to Edinburgh got everyone to sing their national anthems, which was hilarious and great fun (never going to forget us all belting out "500 Miles" at the end).

One highlight was his personal guided tour around Culross (all those steps!) so we could see the herb garden from the show and Geillis' house. He also gave great recommendations on where to eat and shop in the various towns we stopped in.

Highly recommended, even if you're not an Outlander fan!

I loved the tour of the three Castles that was used for the Outlander tv show, it was very interesting and we enjoyed the new sights and being there walking around them. The tour guide on our outing was super funny and always entertained us with music, jokes, some talk about the show, and interesting info about their true history.

The weather was good at first then it rained so I didn't get pics of the last stop of the small town they filmed in, we did a walk around a bit, and got very soaked so that end of the tour was a bummer, but can’t blame anything but the rain for whisky next day, lol!
One thing for sure is the rain is very similar to my hometown in Vancouver, the only difference in rain really is we have a more tropical rain, flooding rain and the rain there in Edinburgh is more ice burgs slamming you in the face windy rain.
I definitely recommend to use Rabbies for your tours in Scotland, you won’t be disappointed.

So first I want to say, our tour guide William was absolutely phenomenal. If I were rating this based on him alone It would be 10/5. Far surpassed all expectations. He was witty, humorous, and provided a wonderful experience.

That being said I think Rabbies needs to make some changes. “Lallybroch” is closed until April1st, they close every winter. So why it’s advertised as opening “mid-March” is confusing. On top of that two of the other locations are also closed/under restorations. While this information is in the description, it’s buried and travelers should be well more aware of all the closures. It really left extremely limited attractions for us to view.

Secondly, this trip has a TON of walking, and not only is it not wheelchair accessible, I would not recommend it for anyone mobility challenged. Most of the areas we got to get out and see had uneven cobblestone and even I almost fell over my feet. At one of the stops there was a steep, long include to walk up to actually get to see some of the filming locations and while it isn’t required, it’s one of the few things we could see. As a heavyset individual I found this trip to be a bit more exhausting than the others. According to my watch it was about 4 miles of walking altogether, so including the attractions and the two blocks to lunch, but still something that should probably be mentioned.

So overall, I found our guide to be the absolute saving grace of this trip. He was fantastic and truly tried to help us get a real feel for the places we were going to see, and gave great recommendations of places to eat, and things we could go see that had nothing to do with outlander, but really made the trip worth it. Without those recommendations it definitely would’ve been a bust.

I think you need to read the description extremely carefully, as most of our tour also missed that there were so many closures. 3/5 places closed. While I wouldn’t do this tour again for the Outlander experience, the attractions we did see outside of that would’ve made a great trip.

Thank you for your feedback and we're sorry that some of the entrance information has caused confusion. Many attractions opening dates are unfortunately still to be confirmed this season and we can only apologise for the lack of clarity. Midhope/Lallybroch have now confirmed their exact opening date to be 21st March. Our guides are always a key part of the Rabbie's tour experience and we're delighted to hear that William made a good impression and made this tour worthwhile.

We had an amazing day! Visited the surrounding villages of Edinburgh, Outlander film locations and castles. Jim Scott, our guide has kept up the energy by telling us stories of Edinburgh, the Scottish language and the local myth of Kelpies and mermaids. With his great sense of humeur he even managed us to sing our national hymns in the bus:-) He was also kind to take of our group several photos ( he is a pro
Photographer). All and all we had a wonderful experience, definitely worth to try!

Had a great full day on this tour as we visited various castles and palaces that were featured as locations in the Outlander TV series. I guess we visited in the 'low season' because we were more or less the only people at each of the sites, which gave ample time and opportunity to soak in the atmosphere and take some great photos! Three of the sites had entrance fees (adding up to around 20 pounds and there is a 10% discount when mentioning the tour company) and each had their own character and atmosphere, which was great.

Our driver Liz was great. She is passionate about Outlander and Scotland and shared many anecdotes, historical notes and trivia in between the sites. There was adequate time for a nice lunch and we also had wonderful scones and tea at Culross. The whole day lasted around 8 hours and we enjoyed every moment. Overall, I highly recommend this tour not only for Outlander fans but also those who would want to get a taste of Scottish history.

Our guide Gillian was kind and patient enough to wait for us when our car made us late. Luckily, we were able to visit a place that was previously closed and she threw in Scottish history details amongst the Outlander stories which was greatly appreciated since my family and I have never been here. We also enlightened her with Outlander facts she wasn't aware of and she joked around with us and told personal stories too.

I don’t do a lot of tours, but I’m in Edinburgh without a car, and decided to take Rabbie’s Outlander tour. I’ve read the books and have seen the first 2-3 seasons of the show, so I thought it would be interesting. It was, but very fun as well! Stephan, our guide, was funny and informative. Due to Covid and tourism being down, there were only 3 of us on the bus, me and an older couple from England. We stopped at 4 castles plus the charming village of Culross, which was Crainsmuir in the show. We learned a lot of history, particularly of the Jacobite era, which the English folks said they hadn’t learned much about in school. If you’re a fan of the books and/or show, I highly recommend this tour!

What a wonderful tour to experience as my first one in Scotland and with Rabbie’s. I was lucky to do this tour with Jim Divine as our tour guide. He drove us around filming locations while telling history of Scottish people, royalty and what has led to the fascinating and at times sad history captured in the Outlander series. I would recommend this tour even to people who are not fans of the show as you visit amazing Scottish castles and towns along the way. If you end up with Jim as your tour guide, great adventures are guaranteed!

We had a wonderful Outlander tour thanks to Jim. We had both die-hard and more casual Outlander fans in our group and Jim made it fun and interesting for us all. He obviously loves the show and knows just what us fans were hoping to see. We also enjoyed his extra stories and history lessons of the area. Highly recommended for fans of the show and their friends who are open to a lovely tour of some beautiful countryside and castles.
