- Julie G00Lovely people and so knowledgeableWe discovered Edinburgh Tour Guides during lockdown via the now defunct online platform Heygo. Sam and Martin kept us entertained and sane with their wonderful online tours of Edinburgh and further afield places such as Inverness, Melrose, Dunbar, Falkland (setting for Outlander) etc. They are now streaming tours on YouTube and can be found on Facebook. They also run wonderful in-person tours.
- Rinae H00Loved our tour!We couldn’t have been happier with our tour! Steve was quite knowledgeable and added many personal stories and experiences throughout the day which added to our enjoyment. We were picked up and dropped off at our place of lodging -so convenient! Adequate time was provided at each stop and we never felt rushed even though we saw so many different sites. We definitely recommend using this tour company, and be sure to ask for Steve!
- waterlogged6500Edinburgh tour guides best in their classWe had the pleasure of meeting Steve, our guide, who took us first to the Glencoyne distillery for a tour scotch tasting and then on a tour of sites where Outlander is filmed. He has great knowledge about the series and provided often surprising information about how it is produced. He then took us through the Trossachs for amazing natural scenery. The highlight of our day a visit to Hopetoun House the finest estate house in Scotland and the UK. Touring with Steve is a seamless experience. He kept us on an easy schedule and made the day enjoyable informative and memorable. Hopetoun House is a lavish estate house lovingly kept up by its live-in family, an astounding art collection and wonderful period restoration, Steve was a knowledgeable, pleasant and expert guide. Edinburghtourguides.com provides a professional and pleasant experience.
- L9417ULannk00Take me home to LallybrochMy two Sisters and I were collected from our Hotel at 9.30 by Sam and Steve and off we went to Lallybroch. I can’t tell you how excited I was to go on this Trip. Sam and Steve are fabulous tour guides and lovely people, very knowledgeable and informative. We had an amazing day also visiting Doune Castle, the Kelpies, Blackness Castle and beautiful Culross. We stayed so long in each location as we were really enjoying the tour (not just visiting for the photo opportunity) of which there are so many, but being guided by Sam and Steve and their wealth of knowledge for each location, we ran out of time. Sam and Steve were also pointing out the various landmarks as we were driving along. We loved our Ultimate Outlander Day Tour and will definitely be back to visit some other locations and will be booking Edinburgh Tour Guides to take us. Thank you. Annie Sharon and Christine
- Compass81587100The CastleYou wouldn't know that this castle was an awesome tour just by looking at the outside of it, but when we arrived for our tour, the castle came alive and was like a mini city in itself. The tours throughout the castle itself were fantastic and the various shops were bustling as if it you were back in the time of the castle at the height of early times in Scotland. And if you don't see all of it, it makes you want to come back to catch everything you may have missed. Spectacular is all I can say about this place. Spectacular
- Jdunsmuir495500Culloden Battlefield Well Worth the Visit.Trip to Culloden was with EFGOAHEAD tours. Tour director allowed interested parties to go to Culloden Battlefield and take the tour, in addition to spending a few free hours there. The battlefield guide was great, she covered the history and remaining landmarks. During my free time as i walked around a very strange feeling came over me, the same feeling i had when i visited the Gettysburg Battlefield. It is a place to remember the past, those who died for their causes, and to look to the future with peaceful intentions.
- Lilian W00Free guided walk down the Royal Mile.Joined the free tour at the City Chambers at 2pm during the festival. Lucky to have Victor as our guide and, with just 3 in the party, it was a very informative and joyful slow trek to the castle and then down to Greyfriars. I join this tour every year though usually choose the morning session. As there were 25 people on that session (not sure how many guides they used) then I'm pleased to have waited until later. The guide has been different each year, all are good but I appreciated Victor's depth of knowledge and sense of humour. Stories were approached from angles I'd never considered before. I was particularly shocked by Lady Stair's "fashion accessory" If you are looking for a themed tour Victor is willing to oblige, contact him through the website.
- 35shelleye00Worth the personalized touchThis tour was amazing and super personalized! Robert was an amazing tour guide and walked me through so much of Edinburgh. I totally recommend.
- Michael W00Sam is great!Sam was fantastic! I could not believe anyone could know so much about the city! Her enthusiasm and love of Edinburgh showed throughout the tour. Although it costs more, would recommend a personal tour. You learn so much more
- vap00Customized tour for interests and what we didnt know were interests! What a joy Cam is! Knowledgeable - Fun - a great singer and he is so passionate about his Country. We went for 2 days a couple of years ago and are planning to revisit with my husband in May taking two more tours and again with the 'adventure girls' in July/August. Cant wait!
- DorisNetherlands00Excellent tourguide! Our guide obviously knew a lot about Edinburgh and it's history. She answered many questions we had well. After this guided tour we kind of know the what and how of the town, which made the next few days much easier for us. And we had a good laugh as well! Can totally recommend this!
- Ladybug937300AmazingWe had science John on our tour and he was a wonderful tour guide! He included names of the people in the tour in the stories and gave us a couple laughs. Good man.
- scottfK1375OT00Old town and ghostGood tour our guide Alexander coburn the hangman (Paul) was great and involved the kids who loved it
- Susan H00Really interesting and enjoyableThis is a long tour, but Sam, your guide, is genuinely is so engaging that you completely forget the time as she takes you through Edinburgh's history. We learnt so much and thoroughly enjoyed every minute of the walk. They only do small groups so very intimate and loads of real detail. Definite recommendation
- Trebor301700Great walking tourGreat walking tour really enjoyed learning more about Edinburgh. Sams extremely knowledgable and made the walk very entertaining.

My mum and I recently took this tour during our trip to Scotland - wow! Sam was super informative, allowed us to take our time and provided us with so many Outlander sites. It was an added bonus to be able to see pictures from filming and close up shots of Catriona and Sam. Absolutely wonderful! Would recommend to any Outlander fan.

Our tour guide, Sam, really knew her stuff, she was definitely NOT just working to a script. She's passionate and knowledgeable about Edinburgh and its history and she knows all there is to know about both the Outlander books and the TV show. And she weaves the two together beautifully. The full package for Outlander fans! She also shows you pictures of the day she was a guest on the Outlander set and watched some iconic scenes being filmed in Edinburgh. It was a really fun tour.

Thank you for taking the time to review the tour. I really enjoyed meeting you all on the Outlander Walking Tour of Edinburgh's Old Town. It was great to spend the time with three lovely fellow fans. 1700's was an interesting time in Edinburgh's History and is one of my favourite periods. Hope to see you again one day.

I had a really special time at the Outlander walking tour in Edinburgh. The weather was very unfortunate that day (super cold and rainy), so I was the only person who wanted to brave the weather, and I was so grateful my wonderful tour guide Sam stuck it out with me. I ended up with an awesome and personalized tour all to myself! I loved the mix of Outlander info (both TV show and book) and Scottish history and was also happy my tour guide was an enthusiastic Outlander fan. It was a really unique and special afternoon and I highly recommend it to any Outlander fan visiting Edinburgh.

I'm so glad you braved the weather with me, not everyone does. I honestly thought I was going to be standing there on my own. I really enjoyed our tour and hope you can come back again one day. Hopefully when it's less cold, wet and windy. It's always a joy to chat with fellow fans about Outlander, the Jacobites and Scotland's history.

Too many personal and unrelated anecdotes for my liking. I was there to hear and see OUTLANDER info ONLY!

Oh dear! OUTLANDER info ONLY.... that would have made the walk between each location very quiet and an uninformative tour. The tour description clearly states "Walk in the footsteps of Jamie and Claire with a fellow Outlander Fan. Hear about Edinburgh in the time of the Jacobite rising and it's aftermath. See the Novel locations and Film locations used in Outlander".... Now it may just be me but I think this description tells you that you will hear about more than just Outlander. Sorry the personal anecdotes about filming etc. was not of interest to you. I think perhaps you booked the wrong tour and in future you should take more time reading the tour description to save future disappointments.

Not only did I get a great tour of Outlander locations, I got the benefit of Josh's love and knowledge of Edinburgh's history and architecture. Josh took the time to show me some really interesting architectural features of buildings that I would not have noticed or seen for myself. I would definitely recommend this walking tour to Outlander fans and anyone interested in Edinburgh.

Josh loves his job and showing people around Edinburgh's Old Town and Royal Mile. Outlander is a great way to talk about the books and filming plus the Jacobites and Edinburgh in the 1700's

We took the tour in early September 2018. Sam was our guide. She was a fan of all things Outlander and had met the actors and Diana several times. She had also been on some of the filming locations. She shared her personal stories and pictures as well as showing us the sites in Edinburgh related to Outlander. She also gave us some history of Edinburgh and of what it was like to live there during the mid 18th century. The group was small so we all had a chance to ask questions and to take pictures. It made for a great afternoon and as a fan myself was one of the best times I had in Scotland.

Hi Sam, i really want to take your walking tour but it does not appear on any of the dates I am visiting (Sept 15 to 17). Is it possible to fit me in if there is a tour available? 😀
