About the operator
- Tintyb00Enjoyable and recommendedAlly kept us engaged throughout the two tour segments. She has a great sense of humor! The pace is comfortable but does involve quite a bit of walking and a flight of steep stairs. We really enjoyed the tour with her. My only suggestion would be for her (or any other guide) to carry a stick/flag to help everyone to be together in a crowded street. Overall a great experience!
- iarinai202000Spooky and funnyIt was a really good experience. Our guide, Ally, made us feel amazing and brought us into the spooky mood.
- Explorer2252936919400Great Tour - informative and fun!We really enjoyed the tour. They did a great job of each story along the walk getting more and more intense - so by the time you're listening to the last story, you're more susceptible to having 'an experience.' I really respected the opportunities that our guide offered to the group to leave if they needed to without judgement and to ensure there would be no judgement from anyone in the group. It actually made us feel more comfortable. Loved the stories and very worth doing!
- gemmarS6450OW00Eerily enjoyable tourIve done this tour before once and a night tour and loved it so I wanted to bring my kids who have never been. My daughter (10 yrs) loved it, my youngest (7) was a little bit scared he said but he was fine going round, he just held my hand. We met by a tourist info booth/ telephone box at Lawnmarket/the royal mile and took a little bit of different walk to the vaults due to the royal mile being so busy with the fringe, there was a steep road to walk down but it was fine for us. Paige our tour guide was great, came across as very friendly and was enjoyable to listen to. This one isn't a ghost tour but paranormal activities are mentioned and the setting just makes the tales more eerie compared to a walking tour outside. The underground streets and vaults are fairly spacious so you don't feel claustraphopic and are quite dark and damp in places, lit by emergency lights. I do wish the tour was a little cheaper at nearly £60 for the 3 of us for an hour but I do recommend it as a unique interesting addition to your visit to edinburgh.
- Ian-Down-Under00Head down the gurgler!Very simple set of tunnels, chambers and vaults running underneath the city centre. Interesting to learn the history behind them and to be able to see some examples of them chambers fitted out. The guide lady we had was very colourful and lively when presenting the history - good fun. Plenty of walking around, up and down. Make darn sure your shoes are waterproof if it is raining on the day, certainly a bit of water seeps into the chambers creating slush, little rivers and mud lakes, which simply adds to the character of the place!
- T2753XRleslies00Good tourReally enjoyed the tour. Great information and stories about Edinburgh history in addition to seeing the super creepy vaults.
- Heather D0010/10 experienceMy tour guide Ally was both hilarious and extremely knowledgeable, the tour itself was brilliant and very insightful! I would recommend it to anyone visiting Edinburgh
- 68vedranj00Excellent experience! Our tour guide Ally was extraordinary! She told us many interesting stories which were amazing. She was really passionate about the tour and we really liked that. I would rate the tour 10/10 and recommend it to anyone.
- lunal24400Underground must doNot only are the undergrounds insanely cool (and a little clammy) - we were fortunate enough to be guided by Paige who was absolutely lovely. We very much appreciated the stories, creeps, and the humor she managed to combine into her narrative of past-Edinburgh. Can only recommend it!
- 198sarain00Terrifying but delightful. Our tour guide Stew was amazing. He was always keen to make sure that our group was all with him, but he also was sure to interact with all of us and make jokes and tell us the history of Edinburgh as we were walking. He was very attentive to the needs of everyone while on the tour, but he also balanced this out with spooking us half to death when it was appropriate! He was an absolutely fascinating person to listen to and a pleasure to talk to after the tour was over for any additional information, questions we had, or stories to tell. Overall, a wonderful and spooky experience!
- springa12300Great TourOur tour guide, Ally, was fantastic! Tons of fascinating information and sights that you’d never see touring the town on your own.
- SSD_xl00An interesting tourWe had a nice time walking around the cemetery and the vaults. Our guide, Jordan, was very entertaining and fun. The cemetery part was better. I think I was expecting something a little more scary and a little less talk. But all in all, I recommend the activity!
- alansH4219OB00Unseen Parts of EdinburghWell orginised, Tour Guide was very good and knowledgeable. Tour Guide was clear when talking and made sure everybody was involved. Make sure not to wear sandals, quite a few puddles.
- po202300BRICK ROOM TOURGuide left without us even though we were at the meeting place. Managed to get onto next tour thanks to girl at the site. Found the tour a bit boring as only thing we saw was inside of brick rooms which all looked the same. Guide, Sid tried to make it entertaining but wouldn’t recommend.
- U1003ABimranm00Excellent Tour!Great tour! James was excellent, and gave us a really measured and spooky tour that was very fun. The history, including that of how the tour came to be, was quite interesting, and we really enjoyed the way we navigated the space and moved through the vaults.

Amazing tour facilitated by our tourguide Dinah (I don’t know the spelling but the short hair lady). Eventhough it was raining very hard she managed to hype everyone’s spirit and give the spooky vibes. Underground tour in the vaults was brilliant! Exciting enough to anticipate what’s next on the tour’s itinerary

This Tuesday we were met by the fabulous queen Ewan who managed to constantly challenge boundaries and people’s sense of self. It was a great way to create a setting and confront the visitors with the idea of the gruesome realities of the poor and persecuted inhabitants of past Edinburgh.
The fact that he continuously strengthened the idea that our way of life is not something to take for granted supported the stories (true or not matters not).
Ewan did amazing! Great personality!

Worth every second. Fraser was our tour guide who was extremely knowledgeable with what he spoke about. Making jokes along the way, he made it such an enjoyable experience with all round laughs but with a real insight into what life in Edinburgh used to be like and the stories and tales about the experiences people have had in the vaults and what life used to be like for people living in them and using them. Would definitely recommend to anyone interested in purchasing tickets. Would be great to go back again and take friends/family so they can also experience the slight fear, but listen to the vast information on past experiences and life in Edinburgh and in the underground vaults.

Our guide Frasier did a great job showing us a little around the city and a thorough tour of the vaults. He was very enthusiastic and at points everyone was so quiet listening it was slightly eerie. As a non-believer in paranormal and ghosts I still found myself a too be a bit scared just from the time and atmosphere of our guide and the group.

We really enjoyed our tour, Andrew our guide made it. His story telling ability kept us enthralled, scared and entertained. Mixed in with his great sense of humor he kept us laughing for the rest of the tour.

I was originally booked on the 9PM Underground walking tour but the other guests didn't show up so it was just me and the guide (Anna I believe) who explained she couldn't take me in there with just the two of us, which I perfectly understand from a safety point of view so she kindly moved me to the 10PM Terror tour instead.
The torture exhibition although interesting to look at was only about four cabinets in a small room, but still seeing actual torture tools that had been used on people was unique.
The tour itself is fairly short in distance covered as it really only covers about four adjacent chambers along a 200m corridor, so anyone expecting a labyrinthian tour of Edinburgh may come away disappointed. Our guide (Tuesday) was very knowledgeable and pleasant and as someone who wears hearing aids to help boost my poor hearing I appreciated the volume used when speaking. I personally didn't experience anything paranormal but then I'm quite sceptical in that area.
It was a good way to spend the evening and to see something unique and at a reasonable price, so well worth doing.

Our tour guide Fraser (aka Daddy) was absolutely hilarious and very knowledgeable about Edinburgh and the spots we visited on our tour. He told us the history and stories of these places, with some humour added in to lighten the mood.
Our favourite part of the tour was the vaults, very spooky and we both experienced the paranormal! being touched, whispered to, overwhelming feelings of anger and a feeling of being choked in a certain room, right before Fraser told us about people being choked in there- to name a few!
Would definitely recommend this tour! This is our second vaults tour with this company and both have been absolutely amazing. Thank you for having us!

We did the terror walking tour tonight and really enjoyed it. Darren was a fantastic guide and we felt really engaged with every word he said. In his delivery of the tour he incorporated a good mix of knowledge, comedy and some scares along the way which kept us on our toes! Would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for things to do in Edinburgh, it was brilliant!
