Nice day by Scotland East Coast Kingdom. We checked the village, learned about Scotland's history, and got great thoughts from our guide.

      Best guide= best trip
This tour was the best tour of our trip to UK. We got David as our guide, who is very friendly, knowledgeable and fun guy. David has keen knowledge of Scottish history, culture and heritage. Adam as our bus driver, shows awesome driving skills, safe and experienced driver with very detailed knowledge of local routes, changing road conditions and pasanger & public safety measures. I will surely recommend having a tour with Timberbash Tours Edinburgh. Don't forget to ask for David as your guide.

Wonderful tour of Edinburgh and yacht
This tour was exceptional. David was a great tour guide and Adam did a wonderful job navigating all the narrow streets. Edinburgh Castle is so massive I wish we had more time to explore. The tour of the yacht Britannia was so very interesting. This was just great as a shore excursion. We saw what we wanted to see and at a price much less than the similar ship excursion. And David was cognizant of the fact we needed to return to the ship in plenty of time before the all aboard.

Best Way to Really See Scotland
The ride was comfortable and included enough bathroom and stretching stops along the way. The lunch spots are basic. The tour guide, John was both very informative and knowable about the sites and went above and beyond with answering unrelated questions to the tour. John really had the guests going and cheering along the way. He's an excellent driver when we were diverted for a road closure, he handled an alternate route with a very narrow winding road with great skill. He also pointed our many things beyond the tour description and was very authentic. The add on castle tour and boat ride on the loch are worth paying for.

      Andrew Rules
Andrew was fantastic. Despite the rainy, windy, and cold weather, we were able to see virtually all of the sites and many breathtaking views. Andrew kept us happy, entertained, and informed. We all enjoyed Andrew's music and tales and jokes, and Andrew promoted cameraderie among the travelers. He deserves a 6 out of 5!

A really fun trip visiting the highlands and all the castles
So the day before I visited loch Ness. But this trip took us to the West Highlands and to the castles. One of the castles was the one where Monty Python and the holy Grail was filmed. The council's just a shell and they charge $10 to go inside which I did not do. I did visit the other castles and took pictures of others that we didn't stop at. Lots of information on the tour and the tour guide and I compared information from the tour Guide I had one I visited loch Ness This is a must tour for those who want to see West Highlands

      Excellent customer service
David is the best tour guide in Edinburgh. He cares about customer's convenient. He is also informative, funny, and helpful. Adam drives safely and smoothly during the trip to Glenfinnan Viaduct. Their service is beyond expectation and do really enjoy the trip.

      Avoid
My advice to solo travellers is to avoid Timberbush Tours. Solo travellers are held in a lower regard to couples. I was very much looking forward to my Glencoe and Loch Ness tour and travelled to Scotland specifically to take photos. When I arrived promptly to join the coach, before I boarded I enquired about how busy the coach was. I was told it was a fully booked one. Fair enough. I boarded and found an empty set of two seats and sat in the window seat assuming another solo traveller would board later and take the other seat - a first come first served basis of quality of seating. However some minutes later I got prodded on the arm. The driver said about me moving so a couple could sit together and she told me to sit in an aisle seat. In the first place I don’t appreciate being prodded on the arm by the driver and the other issue is why seeing as the couple arrived later than me were they seen as their experience being of more importance than a solo traveller/as if they were children who wouldn’t cope with being in separate seats despite being on the same coach. If I had arrived after them then no problem. The issue is moving customers who have arrived first so they have a lower quality of experience than a couple who board later. Timberbush discriminates against solo travellers. Having travelled to Scotland specifically for photos I then could not take any photos as it would have been rude to lean over the passenger in the window seat. My experience with Timberbush ruined my trip. I felt so upset the whole day what with the rudeness of being prodded and then being turfed out to a lower quality seat for people who arrived after me. It should be a first come first served policy. I am aware some coach companies have a facility where customers can book particular seats (I don’t know if this facility operates in Scotland). This would be a great idea for Timberbush as customers could pre-select their seats and if a seat that they would prefer is not available they would then have the option to look at different dates instead of having a wasted day/ money. Alternatively solo travellers should be charged a lower rate as their experience is deemed less important to Timberbush. I very much regret selecting to travel with Timberbush.

      Informative, Gorgeous, Well-Timed
Some of the most beautiful views in the world. The timing of the stops and their length was perfect. And we saw more features than expected. The knowledge and history shared was very informative and spanned a large range of topics. Kenny was knowledgeable and funny. He had the stops timed perfectly, provided the perfect sound track, good recommendations for the area, made a point of getting to know everyone and making sure we had a good time.

      Picturesque and Friendly
St. Andrew and the old course are gorgeous. The village was busy but not too crowded and we spent about 3 hours there. I felt we could have used a bit more time there. The villages of fife were picturesque and the locals were friendly. Our guide, Mike was knowledgeable but kept telling us the cool-er things we could've done if we didn't have a coach. He was also a bit hard to understand at times.

Great way to explore the Highlands if you don’t have a lot of time!
Definitely well worth it! We have visited the Highlands before but now that we were bringing family with us only for a few days, we decided to do this tour so we could visit as much as possible. Wendy was very knowledgeable offering a variety of information with good sense of humour that could satisfy everyone. Jamie was a very good driver and it was nice to see how polite he was with the rest of road users. Strongly recommended!!

Holy Island: We didn’t get to do this part of the tour because of the tides. Understandably this was outside of the control of the company, who did a good job of notifying us of this change ahead of time. Unfortunately they had failed to adequately explain the changes to their staff, which delayed our departure. The alternate stop was Bamburgh castle, where we were told our entrance would be half price because of the itinerary change. But when we arrived there was no such offer and we ended up having to pay full price for an hour visit to a site that needed a minimum of 2 hours to cover.

Alnwick Castle: When we arrived, we were told the castle and gardens were not to be missed and advised to purchase the combo tickets, which we did. Then we were told we only had two hours to visit, but the reality is you can barely see one or the other (castle or gardens) in that time frame, and certainly not both. The castle itself is simply amazing with tons of activities beyond the usual museum type displays, and the gardens are spectacular. You could easily spend an entire day here. We would have rather skipped Bamburgh and had more time at this stop.

The Kingdom of Northumbria: We aren’t sure how this factors into the tour, or why it’s in the title? There were no other stops made, which there wouldn’t have been time for anyway, and other than a brief mention at the border there wasn’t much information given about it.

Our guide was kind and professional and a good driver but appeared flustered from the start due to the change in itinerary. Usually with a tour like this there are stories and bits of history given about various sites along the way but our guide, who seemed very knowledgeable, didn’t share a lot. The driving distance for this tour is quite far for a day trip – we spent more time total in the bus than visiting the sites.

Overall, I wish we had skipped this tour. I had really wanted to see Holy Island so when that part was cancelled we should have just asked for a refund and taken a regular bus or train down on our own to visit Alnwick. This option would have been far more enjoyable and affordable.

Thank you for your feedback. I'm sorry to hear that you felt that our Holy Island, Alnwick Castle & The Kingdom was a disappointing tour. We thank you for your feedback and to hear that you felt like the time could have been better managed on your tour. We try to be very careful with timings as we don't want to be out for too long, as that would be too tiring for both you and our guides. We do state this tour is a one-day experience that takes the scenic coastal route south into the Medieval Kingdom of Northumbria in North-East England, Visit the Holy Island* of Lindisfarne and explore the medieval market town of Alnwick and its castle. We do state clearly in on our website and the booking site that due to tide times on current dates this tour will not be visiting Holy Island, or this tour might run in reverse due to tide times. We apologize if you felt you were misled by the tour description. We've taken on your feedback about the driver-guide format and about the rest areas/activities available on the tour. Thank you again for sharing valuable feedback with us. Best wishes, Amy

The tour guide David is terrible. We arrived the car park of Alnwick Castle at the meeting time and saw the coach door closed already. When we waved at him and asked him to let us in, he looked puzzled (obviously he didn't remember our faces, although it's a small group of people). Luckily, the driver Ben recognized us and we are allowed to come back to the coach. Counting the number of passengers at the coach before moving to another stops is extremely basic requirement of a tour guide.
Furthermore, Ben is not good at storytelling (compared to other guides in the same company). He simply memorizes the info and read them at certain locations. Don't feel his passion about the job at all and that's probably why he's struggling to connect with us.
The allocated timing at Holy Island is too short. We can only visit the castle and miss the Priory. The tour didn't stop at Flodden Field.
I won't recommend my friends to join this tour and risk being left at Alnwick or Holy Island.

Dear U7878CCcarolc, Thank you for sharing your feedback on your Holy Island, Alnwick Castle and the Kingdom of Northumbria tour. Please accept my apologies for the confusion at the Alnwick Castle car park. It is standard practice for our driver-guides to do a head count before leaving any location. I am happy to hear, however, that you were successfully able to re-join the tour. Thank you as well, for sharing your feedback about your driver-guide Ben's style of guiding. I am sorry to hear that you didn't connect to his style of guiding. I hope you had a wonderful time exploring Alnwick and Holy Island. Best wishes, Jodie

On the overall it was a good trip, but the amount of time we had to visit everything was way too little. 1h at Holy Island (more likely 45min) is really nothing. I barely had time to see the priory - which was my main interest - and the castle because if you also want to walk towards it you have to rush everything, which is not really the point of a day tour I guess.
Then, when we arrived at Alnwick castle, we have been informed that if you want to see the castle AND the gardens it will require a special ticket; and also, again, if you just visit the castle the amount of time is alright (2h30/3h), but if you also want to see the gardens, then, again, you have to hurry up a lot.
The little village (20/30min) to take a break was a good idea though.
Our bus driver was amazing! :-) Timberbush Tours have the greatest storytellers!
I recommend this tour if you don't mind seeing things without taking your time, because it's still a very beautiful tour. But if you want to take your time, then I would recommend you to go with another company or by yourself.

Hi SectumSempra0912, Thank you for sharing your feedback on our Holy Island, Alnwick Castle & The Kingdom of Northumbria from Edinburgh. I'm glad to hear that it was a good trip for you overall, and sorry to hear you felt there wasn't enough time at the locations. As you can imagine, with it being such a long day we are only able to allocate a certain amount of time for each attraction. It's lovely to hear that you enjoyed your guides storytelling and that you had a good time overall on tour. Best wishes, Jodie

I did the Holy Island, etc. tour with Connor as the driver/guide. Tropical Storm Babette had just blown into the UK so there was lot of wind and rain to contend with. :) But Connor did an excellent job! His music playlist was great (I loved that he played a lot of Dire Straits) and he definitely knew the history of the region. The Holy Island was fantastic and on a nice day, an hour there would not be long enough. I loved the Priory and the views of the castle. Alnwick Castle and its village were very interesting. The castle is quite majestic and its State Rooms are full of history. The gardens are also lovely, although by that point we were in a total downpour so I didn't spend as much time in them as I would have liked. I would highly recommend this tour, rain or shine.

Extremely disproportionate time usage. The shuttles at the island aren’t there anymore and we only had an hour before we had to leave, so we had to pick between seeing the castle or the monastery. We also had to pay the entrance fee for all attractions. I didn’t get to see either because it was a twenty minute walk to the castle, and by the time I got there, it was time to head back. One of the passengers was late coming back to the bus and the driver threatened to leave her there (she misunderstood what time we were leaving and probably wanted to actually see both the main attractions like advertised.) When we left 20 minutes late, we went to Alnwick Castle and we had THREE hours there. The driver said if we get bored, we can walk around the town. Why did I pay almost $80 plus entrance fees to be “bored”? We easily could have spent an hour and a half there and been done. After this, we went to Chillingham Castle and were told we’re just stopping by. Why? The time usage made no sense at all. Why couldn’t we have spent more time on the Holy Island? If the organizers knew there was no shuttle, why would they make the schedule the same amount of time as if the shuttles were still working? Total waste of time and money. If you can find a way to Beal, join the Pioneer Walk group that goes across barefoot. Hopefully they won’t threaten to leave you stranded because you want to see the advertised attractions 🫤

Dear landongopnik, Thank you very much for your feedback. We are sorry to hear that the tour did not meet your expectations. Due to the time it takes to get to the castle we do not advise our passengers to visit the castle, but rather to visit the Priory. We do allocate the majority of time on this tour to Alnwick as there is so much to see there: Alnwick Castle, Alnwick Gardens and the town itself. All are beautiful and very interesting. We advise clearly before booking that attractions aren't included in our prices and we certainly do not threaten our customers. We do however have to advise people to be back on time as it delays the tour for everyone else if they're not. We are also limited on Holy Island by tide times and would not want the whole group to get stuck there for the night. Again, we apologise that the tour wasn't to your liking. Kind regards, Lisa

We absolutely loved this tour with Paul Henderson as our guide! He was so knowledgeable while also incredibly entertaining and funny. The tour itself was wonderful and we loved every stop. What we loved just as much were the rides on the bus between locations. Paul played Scottish (or English) music for us in between his recounts of the history. Seriously awesome! We loved how proud he is to be Scottish and couldn’t have asked for a better tour or guide.

The meeting place was easy to find and the driver and guide were incredible! The driver was able to get around with no problems and the guide was a professional bard. She was able to give alot of information on the history of Scotland and the places we were going. I had a really great time visiting Alnwick Castle and Holy Island.

We took 2 tours with Timberbush Tours. We took Holy Island, Alnwick Castle & Kingdom of Northumbria with driver Andrew T and Rosslyn Chapel, Scottish Borders & Abbotsford house with Donald. While both drivers were knowledgeable on each tour our favorite was Donald T. He was much more fun and engaging with us. Both tours were great locations to visit. Keep in mind you will still need to pay to enter each specific chapel or Castle location but still worth the trip. Would definitely do it again

Hi there, thank you for your review! I'm so glad to hear that you really enjoyed both of your tours and that you found both of your guides to be really knowledgeable. Those tours both cover some great locations and it's interesting to go down south rather than heading up north! Hopefully we will see you on some other tours soon! Best wishes, David

Amazing tour conducted professionally by our tour guide and driver Neil. This man is wonderful, loves his job, truly informed about this tour and very knowledgeable. My day went exceptionally brilliantly and all my expectations fully met. I highly recommend Timberbush Tours and if you are lucky, be in the company of Neil. I’m already thinking about booking my next tour with them. Thank you!!

Amazing place. 1st of all I have to state 99% of people should not and probably will not be able to walk all the way to this island! Even when the tide is out, it is deep in parts, has sinking sand and has at times, tics & bugs which latch onto your dogs. Use the Causeway - by car; or bus provided. This is very picturesque. Has a castle and very old & beautiful church with some ruins. Plenty of walking around the island with plenty cafés & restaurants. There are amenities (small shops) and plenty gift shops. We didn't get a signal on our phone at the large carpark so make sure you have change - if you can't use a Parking App. You must be aware of the moving tide times - which vary daily!! A must see.
