- chiuwaic202300True beauty of highlandWe joined in a group of 9 including three kinds. The tour arrangement is excellent and the scenes are beautiful. The driver and tour guide Joe is exceptional friendly, caring, knowledgable and professional. I would highly recommend Highland Experience Tour if you want to see the beauty of highland.
- geoffreydavidh00Awesome TourI usually don't write reviews; however, I feel I must for this tour. If you are considering this company and this tour, do it now. It was a wonderful experience. I have taken students on several exceptional tours over the years. On those tours there was a tour guide and a driver. Here there was only the driver, who was also the tour guide, Paul. He did such a great job at being an excellent tour guide while also driving the bus. Paul also gave us great restaurant and whiskey recommendations. One of those whiskeys came home with me; it was so good. He really made the trip fun. Thanks Paul! Now, to the other bits. The bus was comfortable. I was surprised that we had to pick up people from Glasgow. This added more travel time to our trip but it's not a deal breaker. The B&B we stayed at in Inverness was very nice and had a great breakfast (although they didn't have haggis 😒). The pickup point is in Old Town but the drop off is in New Town. If you are not familiar with Edinburgh, then make sure you know where your hotel is relative to the pickup and drop off points. In all, I highly recommend this company, especially if you get Paul.
- Maxine R00Amazing Loch Nestor. We had a fantastic day. Our tour guide Nestor was brilliant he kept us entertained, playing games and chatting with us and playing music. Nestors knowledge of Scotland and its history was second to none. Would recommend.
- alyssasZ4340LM00Great tour, but beware of motion sicknessThis is a great tour, but it is intense!!! It is an all day event, we got there around 745 AM and got back to the city around 930 PM. It is a lot of driving and many of the roads in the highlands are very windy - multiple people on the bus got sick. If you are prone to motion sickness, bring medication and get there early to sit up front. Otherwise, the views were breathtaking and the guide was great.
- 244yukas00Long bus ride with non-optional extra fee to see Loch Ness and Urquhart CastleThe views of the highlands are beautiful, but expect to have only a few minutes to take them in and snap photos. The majority of this trip will be spent viewing the landscape from the bus, so temper your expectations. If your main aim is to see Loch Ness, the extra 27 for the cruise and castle tour is NOT optional. My traveling companions and I thought we could skip the cruise and explore the cute village of Drumnadrochit instead, which was what was advertised as an alternative. BUT we were instead dropped off at a road-side hotel with nothing within walking distance, other than a small pier area and a short walking trail with no view of the Loch. The bus could have dropped us off at Drumnadrochit, which was only a 10 minute drive down the road, but we were basically abandoned on the side of the road for 2 hours. Not worth the price of admission.
- hannak100USE THIS COMPANY- you won't regret it!!!!We did a custom/private 5 day tour with Jamie, and we had an amazing time. Our group consisted of 6 adults and 4 teens, and every single one of us loved the tour and our guide. From the start, my communications with Fraser gave me a good feeling about this company. He was quick to respond, answered my questions thoroughly, and did a great job in helping to create a perfect itinerary for our group. Once we were in Edinburgh and got picked up by Jamie for our tour, that's when the real fun began. I won't mention the sights, because we all know how beautiful Scotland is, but Jamie's helpfulness, willingness to customize the itinerary as we went, and stories helped to make this trip super memorable. We had baggage delay issues, so he was willing to make stops to go shopping, even driving me to laundry machines early one morning well before our scheduled meeting time. There is so much more I can say, but I'll just leave it this- this tour company and our tour guide were amazing, and I wouldn't mind going back! Thank you to the Highland Experience team for making our trip awesome. We will never forget it!!! And am I allowed to say this in the review? Chris is a loser :) (He's another tour guide with this company, and I'm sure he isn't actually a loser, but we had fun going back and forth with it whenever we saw him!)
- JH021200Highlands and Harry PotterHighland Experience Tours … Highly recommended! Saw so much, learnt so much, along with all the stunning scenery it was great to go a little off track to find some hidden gems! Steven B is the best driver guide I’ve come across (I’ve done a few tours too) very engaging, knowledgeable and funny. Felt we’d been away ages not just 2 days. Fabulous !
- Jonathan M00Phenomenal experience! This tour was incredible! The tour is essentially a shuttle bus tour around the Scottish Highlands that includes the 2-hr Jacobite steam train ride, So many wonderful locations, full of Scottish history and lore. The views are mind-blowing and our tour guide (Steven B) did a phenomenal job! His stories and choice of music that accompanied them were fascinating and enjoyable. He’s a gifted story-teller. He had all of us on the shuttle intrigued and excited for each stop. He was also very helpful and accommodating. Absolutely hands-down a great experience! There were several Harry Potter & Outlander fans on our trip and our guide did a great job pointing out some incredible locations on the way that will absolutely delight fans of those series. 100% recommend this 2-day trip and would absolutely sign up for more tours with Steven B. 10/10! Worth every penny!
- Brett S00Trip to Rosslyn Chapel and Sterling Castle was amazingExcellent tour with great sites to see. Comfortable bus, the guide was an excellent historical story teller, and great locations.
- marije w00Great bus tourWe had a great bus tour with a funny bus driver :) A great day where we saw amazingly beautiful nature. There were also enough stops to go to the toilet.
- V5829CGericl003 Day Isle of Skye and Highlands tour.I have been to Scotland 3 times. This was my best tourist experience in Scotland. My driver and guide was Ian. He simply was exceptional. What a fun trip I highly recommend it.
- X173WTcp00Great tour but safety concernsI recently took the Isle of Skye tour with Highland Experience, and for the most part, the journey was memorable. The sights were breathtaking, and the itinerary was well-paced, ensuring we got to see the best of what the Isle has to offer. However, I do have a significant concern that I believe should be addressed for the safety and assurance of future travelers. During one of our stops at a pub, I noticed our driver and tour guide, Amanda, sipping from a cup of whisky. Given the notoriously narrow and challenging roads of the Highlands, combined with the responsibility of ensuring the safety of a group of over 20 people, I found this behavior to be quite alarming and irresponsible. It's important for drivers, especially of large tour groups, to maintain professionalism and prioritize safety at all times. I genuinely hope that Highland Experience addresses this and ensures that such an incident doesn't recur. It's essential to ensure the safety and trust of travelers who are placing their well-being in the hands of the tour company.
- vn76900Highlights of Scotland in a day with an excellent guideThe Highlands, Loch Ness and Glen Coe day tour led by Mr. John was amazing! Mr. John was a wealth of information and has a great sense of humor! The Stories of the Highlands and the music made the tour a great experience. The tour was conducted very efficiently and punctually and covered most of the major sights.
- 665serar00Just take the tour! And insist Brodie be the one to take you!I took the 2-Day Outlander Tour from Edinburgh, and the trip started more perfectly than I could have possibly planned, with the bus serendipitously waiting right outside my hostel next to St Giles Cathedral! I cannot fault a single moment along the way, aside from my already-pre-empted motion sickness which I was ready to suffer for this amazing opportunity, and trust me! It’s worth it! Our tour Guide was Brodie, and such a great guide he was! This was my first time geeking out on a television/book themed tour and Brodie, although having admitted he had not seen Outlander when first called to do these tours, had since delved enthusiastically into the show. He was a wealth of knowledge, not only when it came to the film locations themselves, but even the odd scenes you may, yourself, have overlooked or even forgotten such as the intro over looking the entrance to Glen Coe, an absolutely spectacular sight at which we stopped for photos… but of course these don’t do the scene justice at all! You have to go there yourself… there’s just no other way! Brodie was truly the best sport… particularly in that he brought “Jamie” out for the ladies to take that most sought after Voyager (Book 3/ Season 3) cover photo at Clava Cairns! He also shared with us all the hallmarks of a more general Scottish Highlands explorer tour, telling well-time historical stories relevant to the various land forms, locations and lochs along the road. So we did not miss out on other “versions” of a tour to the Highlands. While many Scots had not seen Outlander and some even gave a slight roll of the eyes when I mentioned I was going on this tour… Brodie was not one of those Scots, he was immersed in the Outlander experience with us, even adding some of the Outlander Soundtrack to his music selection! All of which just added to the whole feel of it! I’m not ashamed to admit, despite that entire soundtrack being my regular work-a-day playlist… it gave me goosebumps to listen to it while actually driving through the unspeakably beautiful, brilliantly green and mysteriously misty Scottish scenery! Most importantly, every visit and stop on this tour was adequately paced and extremely well planned. I do implore you to stick to the time intervals given, as it not only makes the guide’s life easier but it makes for just the right amount of time to be spent at all locations, which is a win for everyone! While we all stayed at different guest houses in Inverness, there was incessant chatter and arguing the next morning over whose guest house and breakfast buffet was the best! So in fact this is the one thing I have to say was terrible about the trip! - You only get one short evening and one fleeting morning in these beautiful, warm and homely guesthouses! I had to force myself to leave just to see a bit of Inverness that night, but my guest house was just so wonderful, I didn’t want to leave! I have no doubt that Highland Experience tours has only the best guest houses in the Highlands in the their connections - although after my highlands experience I also suspect that the notion of a poorly-reviewed guest house in the Highlands just simply does not exist. From the moment I was greeted at the door by the owner, to the moment I stepped out the next morning, I felt the full veil of “Highlander courtesy” envelope me… and you can tell it comes naturally. It’s that special something that luxury brand hotels could only dream of offering. Look! If you are an Outlander fan, just take the tour. And if you’ve never watched Outlander… just watch it and take the tour! If you have no interest in Outlander but you love history… JUST TAKE THE TOUR! Despite everything in the world being so expensive at the moment, this tour is so so so reasonably priced for everything you get, and the entry to some of the sites is completely up to you, but is well worth the small cost in each case. And if nothing else… you will get a taster of the Highlands and you can then pick and choose where you want to return to and spend more time! Anyway! The moral of my long-winded review is… just take the tour with Brodie and Highland Experience Tours. What the heck… call them up and insist Brodie be your guide and I can guarantee the rest will take care of itself! Thank you Brodie, and everyone at Highland Experience Tours who helped make this dream a reality for me! Travel Tip #1: If you are planning to visit such places as Edinburgh Castle, Stirling Castle, Craigmillar Castle, etc. in addition to this tour, invest in the Historic Scotland Explorer pass… it’s one price with free entry to an enormous number of places, including all of the main castles on this tour! (except Midhope Castle) Travel Tip #2: Do your research before coming to Edinburgh, there are some Outlander locations that are not on this tour, but well within your reach to visit in and around Edinburgh such as Bakehouse close (the exterior for Jamie’s print house) right off the Holyrood end of Royal Mile and Craigmillar castle (the location for Ardsmuir Prison) which was just a 12min bus ride along route 49 from South Bridge, followed by a 10min picturesque walk up a grassy hill over which the castle comes into view… almost as if you were approaching it during medieval times!
- C3447XOpaulj00Highland Tour 2023We took the 3-day trip to the Highlands from Edinburgh. Our guide Maj was the best, he knew so much about the history and the culture. We had lots of breaks and stops along the way. The bus was cozy and comfy. Id recommend this tour 100%.

Perfect trip to St Andrews with a few side visits. Had plenty of time to walk from one end of town to the other as well as do some shopping. Rory provided some great back stories on Scottish history.

Al was a fantastic driver! He was knowledgeable and professional and also hilarious! The tour itself was great and nice and relaxed. Beautiful views of the Scottish countryside. Al made an extra special stop at Eile Beach for photos. Anstruther was adorable. Saint Andrews was beautiful and the cathedral and castle were amazing. Falkland and the palace were lovely also. Would highly recommend this tour! (Rabbie’s).

Rob was by far the best tour guide of all of my Scotland tours. He was courteous, enthusiastic, and a superb storyteller. He made sure to point out all of the local attractions and provided recommendations for the best fish and chips and gelato. Overall it was a great day touring the fishing villages and seeing the coastline.

My wife and I visited Scotland and spent much of our time walking around the city, but we decided to take a one day tour to St. Andrews via coach. It was a 16 passenger with only 8 people on board. Our driver Stephen J. was very informative and fun for the entire trip.

While most of the stops on the tour were amazing and we did have some great food, we felt the description of the tour was misleading. The main reason why we chose this tour was to see St. Andrews. We ended up spending about five minutes parked on the green and then 2 1/2 hours in the town of Falkland. This town was certainly beautiful however when we arrived we were asked to buy tickets to the palace and gardens which we did not know was not included in the ticket. We spent 12 pounds on tickets and it closed 45 minutes after our arrival we didn’t even get to see it after taking a bathroom break, this was very disappointing. We felt quite mislead on this tour. The bus was also uncomfortably hot and tight. John was quite nice but had to read off of a paper at times to share information. I would not recommend this tour especially if St. Andrews is important to you.

Hi Carly,
Thank you for taking the time to review your tour.
I am sorry you did not enjoy your time on tour with us. We do advertise that all entrance fees are optional extras and we try to be as clear as possible with this so apologises if you did not read this at the time of booking. You spend approximately 2.5-3 hours in St Andrews on this tour, apologies if you did not find this to be long enough, however we do also have customers going on the tour primarily to visit Falkland so we also have to spend a decent amount of time here.
If you were looking to spend the entire day in St Andrews perhaps we could have offered you a more appropriate tour.
Kind Regards,
Fiona
