A nice and surprising tour along the cemetery. Lots of interesting stories and little tidbits. The guide was an enthusiastic and great storyteller with a good dash of humour.

Highly informative & cute mysterious stories!
The Greyfriar graveyard tour was so interesting. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and had a fun sense of humour. Learning the story of Bobby was cute as well. Highly recommend!

Funny, informative, personal - a delight!
This tour was one of our absolute favorite parts of visiting Edinburgh. We had heard some of the more famous stories already, but Robin led us on a tour of the everyfolk buried in the Kirkyard in a tour-de-force of both Scottish daily life and tombstone design. We had many out-loud laughs on a very wet Edinburgh afternoon. You should do this! You will not regret it.

    Wonderful history of Greyfriars
We took the Greyfriars Kirkyard tour and enjoyed it immensely. We learned a lot of history and lore about the city, Scotland, and the cemetery itself. Our guide was very knowledgeable and friendly!

    Fantastic Tour
My daughter and I were looking for a smaller tour where we could ask questions / interact with the host and not get lost in a crowd . We had a great time with the small group we were in and learned so many interesting facts that were delivered with passion and humour . What a great host - I would definitely recommend booking!

    Interesting and funny
We had a very pleasant visite with Robin Mitchell. He is a very passionate and funny man. We learned and laughed during the tour of the Greyfriars Kirkyard which is not an easy mix in a cemetery. Thank you very much for such an interesting and lovely time.

    Perfect tour of greyfriars
Amazing tour, booked to be part of a group but we ended up as a private tour. The guide was incredible, knowledgeable and adapted the tour to our interests. Although the weather was freezing, our guide kept us engaged and interested as we toured the greyfriars cemetery. Big shout out to his cousin David for all the research he does! Would recommend to a friend a million times over, even ended on a poem in the style of Mcgonnagal!

Can highly recommend this tour. Very entertaining from the outset. Great to learn some of the gruesome history of Edinburgh in a fun way. The guides interacted very well with the whole group with the obvious ‘can I have a volunteer please’ meeting with stony silence so someone was an unlucky victim. A must for anyone visiting the city. Great value for money especially as you receive a Witchery Tales booklet included in the price.

Had a fun time and learned a lot. The guide wasn't just informative but funny as well. The little skits put on by the "ghosts" to help explain the past were hilarious and entertaining. The content was obviously sometimes gore-filled but there were plenty of kids in attendance who acted as volunteers to demonstrate certain aspects of the past and they all seemed to really enjoy it all regardless. We ran late and arrived just as the guide was doing a "final call" along with another group of people but it wasn't an issue. Very friendly guides!

The Ghost and Gore Tour is truly delightful. Led by the deceased Sir Clapperton and a host of rapscallion characters, the tour is all at once amusing, rather frightening, interesting, and a non-strenuous walk. Sir Clapperton and his associates clearly know Scotland, Edinburgh, and the most arcane facts of both. The combination of early November sunset and dark shadows cast in the alleyways and courtyards of the neighborhood make for a truly creepy excursion.

If you are looking to book a walking tour of Edinburgh then without doubt this is the best one the city offers!!! This was not only informative and interesting hearing about the gristly stories of the city, but the guides are so entertaining and bring the whole thing to life. We couldn’t recommend this tour any more - it’s absolutely fantastic and brilliant value for money!
There was only my boyfriend and I on this tour and we were treated like royalty. We had such a laugh with the guides and felt like we could ask questions that interested us and get to know all about the fascinating history of Edinburgh. We loved it, and would recommend to anyone. Thank you so much :)

We booked this tour as a last minute thing to do on our trip to Edinburgh, and I’m so glad we did. Clapperton and his accomplice were hilarious, and had adapted the tour well to make it current and relevant. The walk covers a short distance but allows you to see parts of the city that I’ve been walking past for years. If you have time to spare - DO THIS TOUR!

As above. I attended with my partner; we’re both early thirties but it was very clear that this tour appeals well to all ages.

Our group was led by an older gentleman - sorry; a ghost - whom I understand has been delivering these tours since the eighties. And it showed. The whole thing was just a masterclass in making people feel comfortable, keeping people engaged and making people laugh. It was pure entertainment i.e. ‘good clean fun’, and really funny. It was also insanely good value for the ticket price.

Our guide was joined throughout the tour by a supporting ‘cast’ of further characters who each appeared as if from nowhere at the various ‘stop’ locations throughout the Old Town. The guide and his companions were in full costume (they drew a lot of laughs for simply appearing at the start of the event - the sense of theatre amidst the historic city was great) and they together delivered the tour with buckets of passion, energy and charisma. The gusto and commitment of the supporting ‘cast’ in particular was worthy of an Oscar.

More than anything, Cadies & Witchery Tours were clearly putting a lot of effort into bringing the story i.e. the history to life for us as the audience. It’s extremely clear that our tour was delivered from a perspective of real love for the history and for sharing that interest with others.

I cannot recommend this experience enough.

Having been on a few ghost walks around Edinburgh, I can honestly say, the Witchery Ghost & Gore Tour has honestly been the best. The live actors were highly impressive with their knowledge of the city; put on a fantastic show; stayed true to character and made the experience fun for everyone on the tour. Can’t thank Mr Clapperton and his colleague enough for a really fun night. I highly recommend this to anyone looking to partake in a ghost walk around Edinburgh when you visit.

With my friends getting an earlier train home from Edinburgh after our week exploring the Fringe, I was looking for something to keep me entertained until my coach home. Having checked on the Tesco Clubcard website to use up some of my vouchers, I came upon this tour. Why not check it out? I am extremely glad I did. Edinburgh is the perfect place for a ghost and gore tour, with so many stories to be told. Mr Claperton and his 'glamorous' assistant took us through the streets of Old Town, telling us some of these stories with superb knowledge and humour. You could tell they genuinely enjoy their jobs and bounced off each other really well, getting us involved when we were needed. The only challenge of the tour was navigating through the packed Fringe crowds, however, we managed it and made it to some of the quieter areas. I was very happy the tour ran slighter longer than the 90 minutes I was expecting, and cannot recommend it highly enough. If you want to learn more about some of the stories of Edinburgh and its people, with some fun and scares thrown in, this is the tour for you!

Went last night on this tour and it was so good we barely noticed the torrential rain! The hosts were funny, knowledgeable and kept us hooked for almost 90 mins. Was sad to finish the tour it was so good. Suitable for all ages but remember to bring all weather clothing!

Not to be missed: the perfect walking tour of atmospheric Edinburgh at night, and really great value for money. Entertaining for all the family, and very funny indeed, with highly imaginative characters met along the way, and a gentlemanly host whose patter is natural, yet highly professional and genial - just the right amount of information, humour and historical intrigue. We were all utterly engaged throughout.
