Had another great tour with Rabbie's -- this time to St. Andrews. There are a couple of stop along the way, which breaks up the short drive. The town of Ann Struthers didn't offer much, but Falkland was a major highlight because I recognized it...More

Hi, Elvgal. I know what you mean when you're weighing your limited time in the city - you don't want to invest the most part of one day unless it will really feel worth your time and interest. My friend and I LOATHE golf, which I saw was one of the features of the tour, but we wanted to see the coast and the villages and some of the more northern country, so we did sign up for the tour and we just loved it. The guide, as you read, is great, but I'm sure that all of the Rabbie's guides are tops or they wouldn't be with the company. It's a very professional operation. Lots of fun. Lovely buses. Very comfortable. When the tour arrived in St. Andrews, there is the option for those who are golf freaks to spend a couple of hours at the local club, but I think that most of the people in our group opted to just explore the small city of St. Andrews, have lunch, coffee, browse the book shops. The visit to the Falkland Castle is really great history and a fun experience. That's the last highlight of the tour before heading home. I recommend the tour if you feel that you want to see some of the country north of Edinburgh. Golf was NOT a big deal on this tour. Don't let that discourage you. It was more of a lure for golf lovers, I think. But the tour has little to do with golf, thank the temple gods. IF the weather is cold and raining, I would not go. It would spoil the fun of wandering around St. Andres, I think.
