The tour is amazing and discovering the Highlands is maybe one of the most beautiful things you can do in Europe. Our guide was enthusiastic, competent and very knowledgeable, perhaps a bit too much so. Any time we were driving, except for a few music breaks, there was literally not a single minute of quiet on the bus, as our guide was constantly talking about something. There were lots of interesting information of course, but also a lot of rather unnecessary tangents about long forgotten pop culture, intentionally lame jokes, etc. I'd say that about a third of the info he gave us was like this. Stretched over a 10 hour journey, this becomes quite mentally exhausting and it would have been cool (for all of us probably) to take a breather once in a while and enjoy the scenery.
For some time I thought that it was just me being grumpy or having gotten out of bed wrong, but toward the last hour and the ride back the tourists were hardly engaging with him, so maybe they felt the same.
I have massive respect for the hospitality, enthusiasm and friendly demeanor of all the tour guides I've met in Scotland, but just this one time, less would have been more, I think. Will definitely be back for another Rabbies tour and still absolutely recommend it.

We had a very pleasant trip with our guide Jim Scott! We got a very comprehensive experience covering many of the “must-see’s” of the Scottish high- and lowlands. Jim was an excellent guide, giving us plenty of information about what we saw but he also shared some personal experiences and cracked some hilarious jokes, making the trip feel very familiar and fun! This is a must when visiting Edinburgh. Make sure to ask for Jim Scott if you wanna get the best experience!

We toured around the Scottish highlands with Iain and had a lovely time. He shared lively music along the way and took us to a few extra places when one of the castles was closed. He was a delightful tour guide and the lochs were some of our most memorable scenery. We’ll done Rabbie’s!

I mean it is an excellent one-day trip if you would like to escape from crowded Edinburgh and you just want to enjoy marvelous views. The hill sides were bathed in greenery, the valleys hide the narrow village roads, interspersed with breathtaking lochs and majestic castles from the past. Every trip is made special by its driver, this tour was exceptional as the bus driver was Bruce M, with a great sense of humor and great driving skills. His stories about Scottish history and the music he chose were a nice complement to the stunning views. In addition to dozens of photos taken, you will get memories and emotions from this trip that you will remember for years to come.

Nice driving route with beautiful scenery and the castles were interesting. Some guests on the tour were rude which was a detraction and in party because of them the Argyle Castle visit was rushed and we almost didn't get to eat.

We were on this tour with our friends and family. Unfortunately, everyone in our group was very disappointed with the tour guide, Bruce. From the very beginning, he acted as if he wanted to be somewhere else. He did not follow the schedule sent to us on the reservation email, did not give much information, and half way through the tour he said his microphone stopped working and did not bother to tell ANY information for the rest of the tour. He acted only as a driver and not a tour guide. I can understand that it might be difficult to talk and drive without a microphone but the same attitude continued at stops as well. I will not recommend the tour to anyone at least not with this tour guide. Scotland was lovely, the scenery was nice, but it would have been great to have some more time in Invereray instead of the ample time given for Doune Castle. We did make a small mini bus day tour in York with a different tour, and comparing the experience of an enthusiastic tour guide that was sociable and connected the group, to the experience of staring out of the window trying to google what the two giant horse heads we just passed by was, I must say this tour did not do justice to what Scotland had to offer.

This is not the experience we want any of our guests to have and we're sorry that you felt we did not do justice to Scotland. Please contact us at feedback@rabbies.com so that we can identify your booking and follow up appropriately.

We were so pleased that we chose Rabbie's tours for this excursion to the West Highlands. William was a great driver/guide. Very knowledgeable, friendly and has a good sense of humor. Plenty of time at each stop to explore and take pictures. We were fortunate to have a great weather day, with plenty of sunshine. Doune Castle was worth the admission charge. Our group elected to have a nice lunch at the George Inn in the town of Inverary, while others on the bus chose to explore Inverary Castle. It does make for a long day, but the bus was comfortable and stayed on schedule. Would definitely recommend if you want to get out of the city and into the country.

It is a must to get tour of Edinburgh to see the numerous castles, lochs, and the highlands that this tour merely scratches the surface of. Our guide, Jim Scott was a pleasant and VERY knowledgeable guide who entertained us with stories both humerus and historical as we traveled about from castle to castle. He had good recommendations for food and especially photographs and was kind enough to share some tips as a professional photographer. The tour covers A LOT for only being a day.

Some things just to be aware of (they aren’t bad but I would like to know these things ahead of time)

- you are in the car for a long time
- it’s a long day so leave early to grab coffee and breakfast to start the day off right (the Rabbie’s center has a cafe but there were also a few places right near by)
- wear waterproof clothing and BOOTS as it’s usually raining or wet on this tour and some of the best sites are viewed after trekking through a sheep field
- bring PAPER money for small town purchases as they don’t always have the means to take card (thankfully Jim knew where the bank machines were for the guests on our bus who were out of luck but it’s nice to be prepared)

All in all, great trip and would totally do a Rabbie’s tour again (just wearing boots)
