John Mc Kinney, your tour guide is the brother of William Mc Kinney who were one of the 14 civilians shot on Bloody Sunday. Incredible to hear his first hand, personal, yet balanced historical account of the events that took place. The one hour tour is jam packed with incredible info of the events that transpired in the 60s 70s. I’d recommend doing John’s tour and visiting the Museum next to the murals which features a video recorded by John’s brother moments before his death.

Brilliant tour given by John. Very personal and moving experience. The tour is made better because of the personal experiences of the tour guides. You could almost visualise the events as John was describing them.
Would definitely recommend visiting the museum afterwards and was great to get discount for mentioning our tour guide on entry. I would highly recommend this experience when visiting Derry.

If you want an honest, authentic, informative account of the events of Bloody Sunday and the history leading up to this day and past, then this is the tour for you. John is a great guy, who’s passionate about what he speaks. I left the tour with a great understanding of the troubles and would highly recommend this tour to anybody wanting to learn more about this great city.

The walking tour was definetly the highlight of our trip to Derry. Our tour guide had a great deal of knowledge about the troubles and the role the Bogside played in them. Questions were always welcome and our guide really toom his time to set all the wall paintings around Free Derry Corner into a historical context. He also told us about his personal experience which really gave us a deeper understanding of how the troubles affected the people in the Bogside community.

The tour was an excellent one and John McKinney was a superb tour guide. John really told the story in depth as he knew 100% about the troubles himself when they happened. I'd highly recommend to do the tour with John as the tour is well detailed for your one hour walk. Thank you John for being an excellent guide. Many thanks

Together with my son and daughter I had an absolutely brilliant Bogside walking tour yesterday. It was completely made by John our guide for the day who conveyed his knowledge of the area, his personal experiences and the events of Bloody Sunday to us in a very professional way. His sense of humour made what is a very sad story enjoyable and very thought provoking.
By the way John don't forget that Jack Lynch had 5 All Ireland hurling medals playing for Cork.
Thank you very much John and I will be back during the summer with some more of my visitors

This was a terrific tour given by John who lost his own brother on Bloody Sunday. Poignant, informative and really helped contextualise the situation at the time in Derry and how things escalated that particular day. I would recommend this tour to everyone interested in history, human rights and justice.

Our walking tour guided by John this morning was terrific. It was most insightful and informative of the history of the Bloody Sunday massacre and the impact of it which is still very much present in the community to this day. We got a first hand account of the events which unfolded and the on going fight for justice for the families of the victims. Highly recommend this tour for anyone interested in an authentic experience of Derry and it’s people. Thank you John for sharing your experiences and knowledge with us and we wish the very best with everything.

Hi to John who took us on this fantastic tour of the troubles. Great murals also sad. John was a very good story teller and it was very interesting. He had a lot of knowledge and up to the minute information. Being part of the sad and horrific history of the troubles himself and his family made it even more poignant to us. We also as a family suffered a similar horrific history so it was real for us also. It was a fantastic tour and we would highly recommend it to anyone. Thank you John.we enjoyed your company immensely. Hope you are well friend. Derry is a warm friendly inviting city in all it has been through and we loved our time with you all. Cannot wait to visit again soon. Slán go fóill. Vincey and Ann. Garvaghy rd.
