We really appreciated the historical / bog side tour that we took with Gleann’s colleague, Angela. She was incredibly well-prepared, personable, and able to answer all our questions. The fact that she grew up in this very area provided an added layer of emotion to an already very moving tour of this particular area of Derry. I highly recommend this tour if you’re interested in learning more about the complicated history of Derry. (Added bonus: she gave us an excellent lunch recommendation too).

Just finished the walking tour of the Bogside and the murals. Angela our guide showed excellent knowledge and commitment to the tour sharing with us her experience of growing up through the troubles. Chatty and welcoming interacting with local people and making us feel welcome and included when chatting. We were fortunate to have her as our guide and any future tourists will be fortunate to secure her services.

The tour was very educational and the guide was more then happy to answer any questions me and my friend. Had it was good to find out the backstory behind many of the conflicts most famous murals and why people hold them so close to their hearts.

Here's a shout out for a fab walking tour of Derry. Gleann Doherty and his colleagues provide a variety of options to choose from. We wanted a bit of the history of Bloody Sunday as well as locations for the Derry Girls (TV Show). Gleann was spot on with just the right amount of each (even had a few extra insights on the TV show). Strongly recommend. He does Derry and Donegal tours. Angela gave us a very detailed tour of the murals in the Bogside, especially emotive as she grew up in this area during The Troubles and so had a lot of personal stories to tell, really adding to the experience. Although she had one persuasion, she was very respectful that not everybody would feel the way she did about Northern Ireland and its place in the UK, which was welcomed. Our tour lasted for two hours and was very fascinating. The meeting point at the Tower Museum was easy to find and communication between us and the tour operator was great. Highly recommended, a great way to learn about the history of Derry and the Bogside and see some of its most famous murals and reminders of The Troubles.

My goodness this walking tour of Bloody Sunday in the Bogside region of Derry was one I won’t soon forget. It was educational and sobering, but yet humorous at the same time thanks to Gleann (the owner) and it was so heartwarming to meet him. We our grateful to have had 2 hours with Gleann sharing his very personal history of such a tragedy. This tour is an absolute must.

Excellent, informative and personal. Noel was a wealth of knowledge having lived it. Great perspective. We all came away with greater understanding.

First morning no hot buffet breakfast but cold buffet and cereals available. The waitress informed us about this but said we could order from the a la carte breakfast menu which we did- my friend had the 2 duck egg omelette with ham. I asked for a smaller one duck egg omelette with cheese and tomato which was equally delicious. On our second morning full hot buffet available which was superb. Service was excellent. Disliked · There was nothing I could really fault. Front desk staff were excellent. Spacious room. The hotel opened last year and you have to walk over the Peace Bridge to get to the main walled city but that wasn't an issue. I was allowed to use the Spa area but didn't have time to book a treatment. Maybe one issue we were in room 128 and it was a bit of a pain to get there going through several doors where you either needed your key card or had to press a button to progress,

I would highly recommend this tour with Gleann. He was extremely knowledgeable. The experience is very moving. There is a great deal of history in the area.

Our guide Gleann was warm and personable. He is very knowledgeable about the history of his city, and as a native of Derry city he can provide an intimate insight into the real experiences of the local community during the conflict in the North of Ireland. We would highly recommend this tour, it is an important part of irish history in Derry.

The tour guide had shown us a true side of Derry. I was amazed by the passion and the knowledge the guide had. I would strongly recommend this truthful and mesmerising tour !

A must if you’re in Derry. Our guide, Gleann Doherty, is an expert on the city’s history and will tailor your tour to your interests/based on your questions. His content knowledge spans hundreds of years and is more than comfortable talking about Derry today. I learned a ton and had a blast!

The BEST tour! We had a private tour on Saturday with Angela as our guide through the bogside and city walls and we could have walked with her and listened and talked for hours and hours. So special to have a local guide, the tour was so amazing and educational. We could not recommend this tour enough, a must if you are visiting Derry. GRMA

It was a rainy day but fortunately stayed dry enough for our 90 minute tour around the walls. Gleann was a great guide and knew his city. Pointed out both old and not so old features as we walked the mile around the city wall. Definitely worth the time and effort spent. However, beware it is a fairly long walk with lots of steps and steep slopes. If you have walking issues this may not be suitable. Check before you book.
