      Funny AND Brilliant
This tour is so worth doing; we expected to have fun and learn more about a show we love, and got even more than we expected. We didn’t expect our guide Angela to connect the show to so much history, both of Derry and current day. Angela is brilliant and hilarious; the tour was such a gift! We’ll be watching the series again with Angela narrating in our brains.

      Bloody Sunday Tour
Took Bloody Sunday Tour October 15, 2024. Our tour guide Michael was excellent. He personally knew many of the people affected by this tragedy. We toured the Bogside and walked along the protest route. Imperative tour for anyone interested in The Troubles in Northern Ireland. Highly recommend Michael as a Tour guide.

      Wonderful, moving tour of Derry
We really appreciated the historical / bog side tour that we took with Gleann’s colleague, Angela. She was incredibly well-prepared, personable, and able to answer all our questions. The fact that she grew up in this very area provided an added layer of emotion to an already very moving tour of this particular area of Derry. I highly recommend this tour if you’re interested in learning more about the complicated history of Derry. (Added bonus: she gave us an excellent lunch recommendation too).

We loved this Derry Girls Tour!
Angela was an amazing tour guide- she is extremely knowledgeable about the Derry Girls show, which we love - bringing us to many places where the scenes were filmed along with educating us about the charming city of Derry and its history and what it was like for her growing up here in The Troubles. We had an excellent tour - one of the highlights of our trip to Ireland.

Great tour which isn’t all about Derry girls. Loved it, Book on it!
Great little walking tour that not only covered Derry girls but touched on history of Derry which I found extremely interesting. Our tour guide was so lovely. He had obviously watched Derry girls a lot of times as he really knew his stuff lol Didn’t just talk at you, he asked us questions about our lives, quizzed me on Derry girls as we went round & was more than happy to answer any questions both about the show or history of Derry as we went round. Definitely would recommend this tour. Really enjoyed it. Thankyou 😁

      Bogside walking tour
Just finished the walking tour of the Bogside and the murals. Angela our guide showed excellent knowledge and commitment to the tour sharing with us her experience of growing up through the troubles. Chatty and welcoming interacting with local people and making us feel welcome and included when chatting. We were fortunate to have her as our guide and any future tourists will be fortunate to secure her services.

      Merry in Derry
Derry Girls Tour with Angela - Our tour with Angela was brilliant! Lots of laughs and great craic. Visiting the familiar locations, the history, insights and stories really brought the series alive. We got so much more from the tour than expected, lots of extra details, social observations, insider knowledge and an awareness of the 'lived experience' for those in Derry at the time the series is set and also the changes since. Angela is well known around Derry having been a student from the school made famous by the Derry Girls series and also being a teacher we found that Angela was frequently waved to and acknowledged by the locals. Our experience was very authentic. This tour with Angela comes highly recommended by all of us. Thank you Angela and all our best wishes ox

Look no further - Here is THE Derry Tour to take
Here's a shout out for a fab walking tour of Derry. Gleann Doherty and his colleagues provide a variety of options to choose from. We wanted a bit of the history of Bloody Sunday as well as locations for the Derry Girls (TV Show). Gleann was spot on with just the right amount of each (even had a few extra insights on the TV show). Strongly recommend. He does Derry and Donegal tours. Also, read the website to see his personal connection to Bloody Sunday. I agree with their website - The Best!

Excellent detailed tour of Derry and the Bogside and its most famous murals! Well worth doing!
Angela gave us a very detailed tour of the murals in the Bogside, especially emotive as she grew up in this area during The Troubles and so had a lot of personal stories to tell, really adding to the experience. Although she had one persuasion, she was very respectful that not everybody would feel the way she did about Northern Ireland and its place in the UK, which was welcomed. Our tour lasted for two hours and was very fascinating. The meeting point at the Tower Museum was easy to find and communication between us and the tour operator was great. Highly recommended, a great way to learn about the history of Derry and the Bogside and see some of its most famous murals and reminders of The Troubles.

As a family of 5 (3 kids of 16, 11 and 9) we took a private tour with our guide Adrian and he was excellent. He gave us a history of the walls before bringing us to the murals on the Bogside. He was great with the kids, constantly referring to them and keeping them interested. His knowledge was first class and as a local he gave us a real feel for the events of Bloody Sunday. We only booked that morning and even that was effortless and easily managed. Overall highly recommended.

Gleann is a fantastic tour guide. As someone who didn’t have a lot of background with the history of Northern Ireland, he was very clear and great at making you understand what went on. Incredibly interesting. A fantastic wee tour, i’d recommend to anyone visiting! Thanks so much!! X

Started our walking tour around the city walls with a very informative presentation of the history of not only Derry but Ireland and the historical events that helped shape the country.found the guide to be incredible with boundless knowledge and experience of the local area and an obvious passion to help tourists understand its dark political history. We continued on to the bog side and were staggered by the depth of first hand experience and knowledge being presented to us. Our guide had a personal connection but was professional about how he presented the information leaving us pondering the information for days .
Would recommend this tour as an absolute necessity. Insist on having Gleann Doherty as your guide .
If you read this ...THANKYOU Gleann and our thoughts have been with you. We were the group of 6 aussies you in March the day before the results of the inquiry were being released. We tailored our day the next day to ensure we were near a tv at 11am to hear the results...and were thinking of you and your family .
    Xx

We booked the tour of the Bogside and murals but our wonderful guide, Angela, gave us a tour of the walls too. Very informative tour. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable. Just one negative thing to point out, nothing to do with the tour as such. I had really been looking forward to seeing the You Are Now Entering Free Derry mural. This is an iconic mural and I was really looking forward to seeing it close up and getting a photograph. However, when we got there the mural had been defaced (not an exaggeration) by pro-Palestinian graffiti. Apparently this graffiti was put on the mural by a political 'artist' of some renown. Personally I do not think it is appropriate to be drawing a lazy comparison between the Troubles in Northern Ireland and the present conflict in the middle east. Secondly, the people of Derry should realise that this graffiti is extremely offensive to people from Israel or those of a Jewish persuasion. Free Derry corner is an iconic mural which I believe should be kept as original as possible and not be used for making statements in relation to foreign conflicts which have little or no relevance to Derry's own fascinating history.

Thank you fornyour review of your tour and glad to heaar you enjoyed it. People do have different views on Free Derry Corner. Whether it should be used as a wall of protest or left as an iconic image political and cultural struggle. There are different political opinions on different conflicts around the world and everyone should have the right to express them. Grma

Before I arrived in Derry, I had never even heard the phrase "Bloody Sunday". I was aware in a general sense that there was lots of conflict between Protestants who wanted to be part of the UK and Catholics who wanted independence, but no more than that. Gleann, our tour guide, was able to tell us about all the historical events, but also made it personal. His father was killed on Bloody Sunday, and both of them have their faces on a monument.

It's hard to think about tragic events in history as actual things that happened to actual people. But walking around, seeing where everything happened, seeing murals and faces, it triggered really strong emotions in me. If you want a sense of history while in Derry, I can't recommend this tour highly enough.
