Great tour which isn’t all about Derry girls. Loved it, Book on it!
Great little walking tour that not only covered Derry girls but touched on history of Derry which I found extremely interesting. Our tour guide was so lovely. He had obviously watched Derry girls a lot of times as he really knew his stuff lol Didn’t just talk at you, he asked us questions about our lives, quizzed me on Derry girls as we went round & was more than happy to answer any questions both about the show or history of Derry as we went round. Definitely would recommend this tour. Really enjoyed it. Thankyou 😁

Derry Girls Tour with Angela - Our tour with Angela was brilliant! Lots of laughs and great craic. Visiting the familiar locations, the history, insights and stories really brought the series alive. We got so much more from the tour than expected, lots of extra details, social observations, insider knowledge and an awareness of the 'lived experience' for those in Derry at the time the series is set and also the changes since. Angela is well known around Derry having been a student from the school made famous by the Derry Girls series and also being a teacher we found that Angela was frequently waved to and acknowledged by the locals. Our experience was very authentic. This tour with Angela comes highly recommended by all of us. Thank you Angela and all our best wishes ox

Look no further - Here is THE Derry Tour to take
Here's a shout out for a fab walking tour of Derry. Gleann Doherty and his colleagues provide a variety of options to choose from. We wanted a bit of the history of Bloody Sunday as well as locations for the Derry Girls (TV Show). Gleann was spot on with just the right amount of each (even had a few extra insights on the TV show). Strongly recommend. He does Derry and Donegal tours. Also, read the website to see his personal connection to Bloody Sunday. I agree with their website - The Best!

A tour not to be missed!
This review is WAY overdue, but better late than never. Our tour guide, Gleann, was fantastic. He did a wonderful job of blending Irish history with the highlights of the show. I'm not sure if it was the day or if this is typical, but my partner and I had a private tour. We had an opportunity to ask tons of questions about cultural references in the show, Northern Ireland, and about the Derry community. We truly enjoyed our experience and, when visiting Ireland again, would take other tours with Gleann. We'd even be happy to take this same one again! 10/10 would recommend :-)

This tour opened our eyes to the history of Derry while we visited Derry Girls filming locations!
Our local tour guide was very knowledgeable about the Derry Girls series and took us to various filming locations. She also explained the context of what was happening historically in Derry at the time and how they related to each of the locations. Derry as a town has a very interesting history and I definitely recommend this tour if you love the show but also if you want to learn more about the town!

Derry Walking tour of Bloody Sunday in Bogside region of Derry
My goodness this walking tour of Bloody Sunday in the Bogside region of Derry was one I won’t soon forget. It was educational and sobering, but yet humorous at the same time thanks to Gleann (the owner) and it was so heartwarming to meet him. We our grateful to have had 2 hours with Gleann sharing his very personal history of such a tragedy. This tour is an absolute must.

      Best tour we've ever had!
Gleann Doherty is incredible. We will be going back to Derry again and we are will request Gleann Doherty as a guide if possible. Gleann is the real deal. An expert. And one helluva great human being. It was both an honor and privilege to be in his company.

      Brilliant tour with Gleann
Can't praise Gleann highly enough - for his walking tour of Derry successfully blending history, politics and of course Derry Girls seamlessly together. Great way to get to know the city, and to get your bearings. It was the highlight of our brilliant first trip to Derry, especially for our 14 year old daughter. Thanks again!

This tour comes highly recommended if you are planning on visiting Derry. Our tour guide, Gleann, was excellent in explaining the events that took place in the Bogside in 1972 and showing us all the different murals there explaining each event behind them as well. Needless to say it was at times very emotional and highly evocative, especially the day after the tour when we heard the news of John Hume's death.

Go raibh míle maith agat a Ghleann agus slán go fóill.

Excellent private walking tour with Lára

    765644073

We booked this tour to enhance our own knowledge of Derry's history, and also to make sure our 3 children (aged 11 - 14) had a better knowledge and insight of how life in the six counties used to be. Lára was an excellent guide, everyone really enjoyed the tour and we all learned so much. Dont miss the opportunity to visit the Free Derry Museum when you're in the area. I can't recommend this tour enough, and look forward to another tour the next time we visit Derry.
The wee bit of unexpected music at the end of the tour made my day!
Thank you again Lára from the Campbell family.

*** please note *** I tried to book here but received a message that there was no availability, I then contacted the company directlty via their own website and filled out an enquiry form (derryguidedtours.com) Gleann contacted me immediately to confirm availability for our preferred date and arranged a suitable time. I would highly recommend contacting Derry Guided Tours directly to arrange tours.

If you are coming to Derry, and want to take a tour, take this one. Our guide Gleann was very informative and highly knowledgeable on the history of his City from its founding in 1603 (and before), right up to the modern day. Taking in the City Walls, and Derry Girls locations, we were then guided around Free Derry, the Murals, and the Bogside area, for a comprehensive and very personal tour of the history that lead to the Civil Rights protests, the 'Troubles', and then the Good Friday Agreement.
Unfortunately, due to Covid restrictions, we were unable to visit some of Gleanns Museum, pub and music recommendations on this occasion, but hopefully we will be able to on our next visit.

Gleann was an amazing tour guide of the Bogside Murals. He was so knowledgeable and told us about the events leading up to and of Bloody Sunday in an engaging way, and encouraged us to ask him questions that we had as we went along. It was so touching how he spoke of his late father and his own experiences of growing up in Derry. I really felt that we learnt so much and it set the scene perfectly for us to spend some time in the Free Derry Museum. Thank goodness for people like Gleann who so candidly talk about the history of Northern Ireland and give an insight of how we can move forward.

Our guide Gleann was warm and personable. He is very knowledgeable about the history of his city, and as a native of Derry city he can provide an intimate insight into the real experiences of the local community during the conflict in the North of Ireland. We would highly recommend this tour, it is an important part of irish history in Derry.

Had a walking tour with our guide John, he was absolutely excellent. He was so knowledgable about everything, and no question of ours went unanswered. He spoke about everything that happened with sensitivity but also brought some humour into the tour. He was very personable, and gave us much more time than we had booked, it was a super way to begin our staycation and I would definitely recommend to anyone that is visiting Derry. 5 stars!

A very moving an informative tour of the Bogside and Murals. Gleann was incredibly passionate and knowledgeable of the area and events that took place in the Bogside and particularly on Bloody Sunday.
The tour and stories of the murals were very interesting and have a great insight into life on the outskirts of Derry. We were able to understand how Catholics would have been treated in the area. Although it’s a very powerful and moving tour, Gleann provided moments of humour that demonstrated life had to keep going through The Troubles. Really enjoyable tour!
