Cancelled without notice
Sep 2019 • Couples
Booked this on the internet through what turned out to be a third party agency. Turned up for the first trip of the day at 10.00 at the start point to be told the trip was cancelled due to a private booking. Both the agency and the operator had my email and phone number and I had a reminder from the agency the day before for the booked trip so there was no excuse for not contacting me. I was told the first trip could be 12.00 or 13.00 they weren't sure. Once I found a manager his first reaction was that as I had booked through an agency it wasn't his problem and I should return later in the day. As this did not fit with my plans I pressured him into either refunding me there and then or providing an immediate alternative. After 10 minutes he persuaded a taxi driver to take us on a tour. The driver, who turned out to be very personable, greeted us with the question "what do you want to see?" As a first time visitor that was rather perplexing - the point of booking the tour bus was to see the city and pick out points to visit - but though not an official tour guide the driver turned out to be a fund of knowledge and very entertaining. I got lucky but if I were to advise future visitors I would say ignore the bus tour and take the Martin MacCrossan walking tour which is excellent, runs many times a day and ends with a free coffee or tea.

A great choice when time is limited.
Sep 2019
Our tour stopped in Derry for about the time it takes to do a Hop-On, Hop-Off with City Sightseeing. Plus it was drizzling, so an enclosed tour was pretty desirable. The bus personnel were very nice and helpful, and free headphones are provided for the multi-language narration.
Derry is an attractive city, but the main draw is history. It was founded as the site of a monastery in 546 AD. The tour addresses the older history and the origin of the misnomer "Londonderry", but they concentrate on the visible history of the city, starting with the early 17th century city walls which are still there. Amazing in size and durability.
The tour spends much time covering the Troubles and Bloody Sunday. Some visible memorials and graffiti exist today because there are still some residual hard feelings, others because the Irish don't try to revise their history. They recognize it and want to make it clear to others that "Sunday, Bloody Sunday" is far more than just a song.
This tour did a great job of showing us the many faces of Derry in a short time. We were very satisfied.

Good introduction to what to see in Belfast
Sep 2019
This was a good introduction to what to see in Belfast, and it was very convenient to hop on and off when something took your fancy. However, the tour finished early evening (5 p.m.) and we were unable to complete it, with no reduction in the price (or advanced warning, so we had to pay for a standard bus back to our hotel).
The outstanding item was definitely Stormont (where the NI parliament meets when it is sitting).

We drove from Belfast to Derry to do the Hop on Hop off Bus Tour. We arrived at 11.20am and found parking easy enough. We went to the Information Centre first to buy tickets for the Hop on Hop off bus tour. They really were not organised. They told us that the next tour was at 12pm and that we can get tickets on the bus. This was confirmed by the Hop on Hop off bus driver outside when we enquired about the next tour. He said he was carrying a private tour at that stage and that the next general public tour would be at 12. So we had a rushed lunch at the shopping centre across the road and reported back to the Information Centre at 11.50am to be told that due to the private tour, the next tour will be 1pm. We were also told that if you take the tour, they do not accept card on the bus (cash only).
We gave up and decided to do our own tour of the sites and research the history later on google. Absolutely messed around by this mob. I am glad I didn't book on line before we went.

Had only a couple of hours, so tour was perfect, an hour in length 7?stops. We saw all we wanted to, although probably didn’t get best value from £12.50 ticket, but that was our choice.

Hop on Hop Off
My husband and I took this bus tour today and thoroughly wasted our money and time. We got off the bus just in time to take the city walls tour that happens every day at 10, noon, two (and maybe another time, I forgot ). We learned so much more on the walking tour. I would not recommend this tour. While we usually like this company and it’s tours, you can walk to everything that’s not under construction yourself if you want to.

Interesting city tour
Jul 2019 • Couples
I enjoyed it very much, especially listening to the history and culture of the place. The tour lasts for an hour during which one learns all about everything interesting and heart wrenching that happened during certain times. The weather was favourable too so we sat at the top. I wish the upper deck back part of the bus wasnt there though so I could take more pictures. :)

A must see,if you havnt already done so.
The views are fantastic and never ending. If you enjoy a social city scene there’s plenty all within walking distance from shops, bars and restaurants.
The historical places, such as ‘The Derry Walls’ and The Cathedral in the towns square is an absolute must if you have a love of architecture.

a great way to get an overview of Derry

We didn't really know much about Derry and decided to do this tour. Excellent and interesting narrative. To some degree the modern history of Derry, the past conflicts there and the peace initiatives being made. I would highly recommend. A comprehensive tour and well worth the time.

We only called into Derry for a quick look but ended up jumping on the bus and doing the tour. Very informative and got a good look around which made us stay a lot longer. Left from the town center where a market was going on which was also great
