      Very interesting Black Cab tour!
Our Black Cab tour guide - Sean - was great! His first hand recollection of growing up in those troubled times was fascinating, as well as the historical info he provided on the conflict.

      A powerful experience
This tour was incredibly informative and moving. Our driver took us to many of the sites affected by “The Troubles.” We did indeed have time to get out of his vehicle to have a walk-around and to look at the various murals. We were on a tight schedule, and after the tour, he dropped us off directly at the Titanic Museum. All in all, a terrific experience.

      Black taxi tour with Ricky
Driver, Ricky, was extremely knowledgeable. I learned an awful lot from him and now have a better perspective on the history of the area and the issues they are still struggling with there.

Gives you a better understanding of the Conflic
Didn't know quite what to expect; the tour was good but it was very depressing on the history of the conflict between the Catholics and Presbyterians We did tour the areas and saw the murals on the walls; the fences between the areas and the gates that close at night. While interesting, it was dismall. Our driver gave a good history and had great information to share about the conflict and the current state of affairs

One of the best tours we have ever taken! David was an amazing tour guide and told us lots of personal stories about growing up in Belfast during the Troubles. He answered all our questions and was very knowledgeable about Belfast’s history and also about current events. I highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Belfast.

Fine as it is, but could be so much more
I have mixed feelings about this tour. If there were an option to rate it 3.5, I would choose that, but there isn’t so I’m choosing 3. I agree with all the other reviews that it was a great opportunity to see a fascinating history up close. It did help me to put some pieces together. Particularly seeing the Divis Flats which is featured prominently in the film ‘71. (Great film, by the way.) Our driver didn’t stop to let us out at any of the murals or the peace wall. Only later did I realize that other tours have had the experience of getting out and interacting with the murals. It could be because we had a bit of miscommunication and the tour guide was not at the location he was supposed to be at (simply because he was forced to circle the city center which took a few minutes, not his fault), so we started about 10-15 minutes late. My biggest wish for the tour would be that the guides would be informed about how peace was achieved. Who were the people, especially everyday women, who worked every day to build relationships with each other towards peace? By complete happenstance I had just heard a talk by Avila Kilmurray the previous week, in the States. She and other women worked for years to organize together and build trust across lines. So I was primed to hear information about how Catholic and Protestant women worked together towards peace, including slipping out through gates to meet with each other and get to know each other. To learn about each other’s commonalities and common desire for peace. I explicitly asked about women’s roles and the guide did not have an answer. So I was left feeling like the tour was a bit of a fetishization of the Troubles, instead of a lesson about how we can do the much harder thing - which is to learn to trust each other again. Belfast could offer some helpful insights that could give us hope for the war in Gaza, but this tour didn’t provide those insights.
