About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- tomselleck120 contributionsAmazing coach driverWe had the world’s best bus driver PAUL. What a lovely kind and cheerful man. A joy to be on a long journey with I wasn’t really that taken with the Kildare village it was just ok. I wouldn’t go again. Def would use mc combs agsin. Beautiful clean busesWritten December 1, 2024

- 442danl0 contributionsGreat coach, better driverSchool rugby match in Enniskillen. Paul, the driver, was brilliant - we had to make a detour to A&E and other stops, but nothing was too much trouble. He amde a challenging day much easier.Written November 20, 2024
- 604lilw0 contributionsGreat trip from start to finish! It was great from start to finish. I was a bit worried about the pick up because of the road works but their communication was very good - got call the day before to say meet at Europa and a McComb's rep would be there to direct me where to get the bus. Worked out smoothly. The coach was comfy and was happy to be able to charge my phone all the way down and back. Straight down from 0820 and arrived around 11am. Got the discount card, which was great. Kildare Village was busy-ish but got very busy around 2pm. Got back on the bus at 5pm and in Belfast around 7.45pm. Great trip altogether! Highly recommend!Written November 20, 2024
- AmericaHolidaylover0 contributionsWorth every penny and moreThis trip was very good value for money, stopping off at castles, a whiskey distillery & the spectacular giants causeway. What it should have been called was ‘a game of thrones tour plus the giants causeway’ as it focused on that a lot. Not great for someone who hasn’t watched it, however scenic views along the sea were stunning, beautiful and breathtaking. Our driver Mark was very informative & very patient with people who were late tuning up back to the bus.Written November 18, 2024
- 68yeswantk0 contributionsYou don’t want to miss thisOur guide cum driver was Patrick, he was very understanding funny and polite. He gave us clear explanation and helped us clear our doubts, I would recommend 10/10. If you are on Belfast you shouldn’t miss this Northern Ireland tour. I whole heartedly thank McComb travels for this trip.Written November 18, 2024
- Stay617321618970 contributionsWorth every penny! This was our first Irish trip and McComb's made it memorable. I planned it as a surprise for my wife as she is an avid Game of thrones follower and am glad it lived up to our expectations. The journey was smooth and comfortable and we got enough time and photo opportunities throughout the tour. A big shout to Mr. Patrick who was our guide for the trip. He managed to keep things lively, interesting and funny throughout the trip.Written November 17, 2024
- shaaunmc0 contributionsA thoroughly enjoyable day covering a number of sights high on our tick list. Great value. We were unfortunate with the weather, intermittently drizzling as it did. However our driver/guide Patrick brightened the day and made it memorable. He kept us well informed of the route, timings and things he would tell us about as he was driving, with charm and wit. Quite a job. There were several stops, enough time was allowed at each to see what we wanted. Patrick made plenty of suggestions to help our experience.Written November 16, 2024

- nicki8660 contributionsBeautiful trip and views for GoT fans as well as those who are notPatrick was our guide for the Giants Causeway/game of thrones tour. He was an excellent guide and navigated the difficult thin roads very well with the large tour bus. Viewing points were great and Patrick provided the history of the sites as well as Game of Thrones tidbits for those that are fans. You don’t have to be a fan of the show to enjoy this trip as we visited a few filming locations as well as locations unrelated to GoT and more part of Northern Ireland’s landmarks. Patrick had the tour timed out very well and we got a long amount of time at Giants Causeway which was the highlight of the tour. Take advantage of every bathroom opportunity Patrick mentions as the bus does not have a toilet.Written November 1, 2024

- N5312RJkellyw0 contributionsTop Tour with a Top Guide! What a fantastic trip! Not only was it excellent value for money, it was very informative and full of things to do, without feeling rushed. We had Ray as our bus driver and tour guide and he was just excellent. He was full of knowledge, gave the best tips but also provided humour along the way. Sadly due to no fault of the tour guide, you cannot go down to the rope bridge anymore (National Trust have stopped coaches going there) and the Dark Hedges are slowly dying off / falling down so these stops were slightly disappointing but Ray still provided lots of information and the views are breathtaking. The whole tour felt very relaxed. You see so much without feeling rushed along - someone has carefully thought out stopping times to perfection. We had the Steak and Guinness pie for our lunch stop and it didn't disappoint - delicious and good value. Take a look at the gift shop in the pub too - we found some great little minatures of Basalt vodka and gin in bottles shaped like the Giant's Causeway which were great gifts! The Giant's Causeway didn't disappoint either - breath taking views and again a perfect stop. Do not spend out on the visitor centre - you don't need to as the actual site is free!Written October 31, 2024

We booked on this trip with 48 hr to go as with a further lockdown being threatened we were unsure we would get away. Anyway it did, and trip itself was nice and the driver was very friendly and some lovely villages seen along the way.
I have only given 3 stars as we were given information on the wearing of masks prior to the trip, as a NHS key worker thought great. As the last couple of our party of 13 boarded the small mini-bus and asked if they needed to wear mask, the driver said it is at your discretion.
Myself and my husband were only 2 out of 13 to wear the mask - normally I would have said something but I was unsure how this would have gone down, so Im afraid to say I said nothing.

Despite everything happening in March of 2020, this was one of the best day tours I’ve taken! I was originally on another all-Ireland tour but sadly it was cancelled before I got to make it up to Northern Ireland and the Giants Causeway. I was pleasantly surprised that these tours were still running and it was absolutely worth it! Derek was wonderfully insightful and funny and very understanding of people’s concerns about this uncertain time, even combining both the Giants Causeway and the Game of Thrones tours, considering that many of the visiting areas were closed. Derek, you deserve a well earned break, but I hope you continue running these tours in the future!

Thank you for an amazing tour to the Giants Causeway! Constant engagement and amazing commentary from Paul kept the small mini coach thoroughly entertained and laughing at his anecdotes.
I would highly recommend this tour, as it is great value for money and the constant breaks and stops helped break up the journey. The opportunity to keep refreshed, with food and comfort breaks were appreciated and the opportunity to have lunch at a lovely pub (if needed) perfect!

Booked this trip as it came recommended and it surely did not disappoint! Very engaging and also uniquely interesting stops. The journey was well paced and commentary throughout from our driver Derek was outstanding. He really pulled the group together and made the journey between stops entertaining with good insights and interesting facts and the occasional bad joke, however all in all a very good trip and would definitely recommend to anyone!

Myself and my friend really enjoyed the Giant's Causeway Day Trip from Belfast. We were blessed with the weather on the day, the sun was shining and it was beautiful out. The itinerary differed slightly as some of the spots were still closed off to visitors due to Covid-19 restrictions, but the company made up for it would other stop off points which were amazing. I would definitely recommend this Day Trip and Patrick our driver/guide kept everyone on the coach amused with his 'funny' jokes throughout the day :)

A big thank you to McCombs travel and a shout out to patrick our driver and guild. I highly recommend this company very professional, but patrick was the star of the day with his vast knowledge and witty jokes.
He really made the tour, i came to ireland for 4 days after recently being made redundant because of Covid 19 and i tell you i completely forgot i had lost my job i was loving every bit of this tour and i do believe McCombs and patrick had a big part to play.
Such a fun filled day in the sun travling all over the costal roads of beautiful northern ireland Also the coach was spotless, hand sanitizer provied and everyone wore a mask wirhout complaints. It was a shame the carrick-a- rede rope bridge was closed because of covid 19 but still the day was fun and the game of thrones locations are awesome if you are a fan, because patrick is a big fan... very passionate driver and guild. McCombs should be proud to have a driver / guild like that.
Ps... i hope you get that retirement home in ( the one with 7 houses built into the rocks, which i cant remember the name of, port bracken? ) ...
Thanks

I had a great time during my trip! As it is off season, we travelled in a smaller very comfortable van with only about 8 people. The day was well-paced and I had a great lunch at Fullerton Arms!
We had enough time on the bridge and to explore the Giant’s Causeway. Overall, it was easy to book and our driver was waiting promptly at the pickup spot. Although this is not a GOT tour, I learned quite a bit and saw some relevant places.
I was very glad that I went on this trip outside the busy season as I heard it can get very crowded during the summer which is something to consider. Fully recommend Mccombs!

Paul gave us such an informative tour today and we couldn’t have asked for a better (or funnier) coach/tour guide!
The itinerary implied that we would begin our trip at the Giant’s Causeway but that actually happened towards the end of the tour instead but we appreciated the build up to the visit. It also helped having access to toilets every 15-30 minutes.
Paul was great at sharing interesting historical facts about Northern Ireland and including Game of Throne references here and there too.
All in all, we highly recommend everyone to take this trip especially if the they’re only visiting for a few days like we are and want to visit as many sights as possible. Thanks again Paul and McCombs!

This was my second time being on a tour with this company; this time I brought a friend.
Our driver, Stephen, was also the driver on the bus all those years ago.
I read comments before booking the tour, although I had no doubts we would have a good time.
Get on this tour if you are prepared to hear from a local, someone who will give facts about life in Northern Ireland - not someone who got info from a book or the internet.
I agree with McCombs management: speaking over the driver is an absolute lack of respect to the other passengers who are enjoying being on the bus hearing the driver.
Stephen is brillant, positive, respectful, funny, strict but fair; careful and put people at ease.
Drivers are looking after a group of 60 people and it is a legal requirement for them to keep everyone together and on time to return safely to the City.
Some of the locations were still close to not fault of McCombs or even their control. You have to remember that they do not own the places we visit on the tour.
I would however say that McCombs has a responsibility to inform passengers of the amendments on the tour prior to getting on the bus - if they decide not to join after that, it’s their lost.
We were told of the changes prior to departure, still had an amazing time; and my friend was delightful of the value for money this day out was.
Thank you to McCombs for arranging a stop at the Fullerton for lunch

Just back from a great tour of the Giant's Causeway, Rope Bridge, Bushmills and all else possible. Our driver Derek made sure we saw everything possible without seeming rushed. He also provided hilarious entertainment with a series of increasingly dodgy jokes as well as some interesting history and insights into Northern Ireland's past. Highly recommended.

Stops at Carrickfergus Castle, Carnlough, Cushenden Caves, pub for lunch, Giants causeway, a castle nearby, Bushmills distillery and the Dark Hedges xx

At the end of the tour you can get off the coach at the city hall in the centre of town or the tour company offices on Donegall road where the tour leaves from in the morning.

It is a full day but the journey is broken up nicely. Max journey time was approx 30mins - there are lots of stops - refreshments and toilets. Plus it is a circular route so you don't go over the same ground on the way back. Definitely recommend.

HI, I would like to do a tour on the 24th of march, but the first train from Dublin to Belfast will arrive at 9.45. Is possible to a have a tour that starts at 10?
Written March 13, 2023
I agree with Peter C on this, you’d need to find a tour company that leaves later. Sorry can’t help.
Written March 14, 2023
There is a rain prediction for the day I want to book a trip. Will there still be a tour in case of rain or will it be postponed ?
Written November 13, 2022
I would check with the specific tour company you are looking to book with regarding their policies regarding the weather. When we left Belfast the skies were overcast and we encountered some rain but then the skies cleared and we had perfect weather for the rest of the tour.

No, from what we heard they don’t allow tour buses on it now and you have to reserve a car spot to go over it.
